The route from Stenungsund over the large islands of Tjörn and Orust are very scenic and goes over several long bridges. Along the way there are scenic ocean views, beaches and nice sites. Stenungsund is easily accessible by commuter train (taking bikes), 40 minutes from Gothenburg.
In the centre of Orust is a runestone from about year 800 close to an older grave field from the early Iron Age.
