After years of twoset Viola jokes, it is still nice to see it is a respected instrument

@@javierquiles953 I've been thinking about making a strong video directed at TwoSet and their viola jokes. I teach at a school and many of my violin students have been offered viola but turned it down because (and I quote) they "don't want to be made fun of" and "don't want to risk getting bullied by being told they play a sh*t instrument". I think that that's really sad, and of course the viola jokes have been around since before TwoSet had formed, but due to their constant jokes and disses of the viola they now have followers that jump at any chance to join in and make fun of the viola/violists and it's that that I have a problem with. My violin students aren't afraid of being bullied by TwoSet directly, they're afraid of that small pocket in the social media community that joins in with the jokes and so they want to preemptively NOT start playing the viola in order to avoid possible bullying. As a teacher of many years I know all too well that I personally (especially as a violist) can take a joke but young children usually can't. They don't get sarcasm. They take insults very deeply. They instead thrive from praise, and so by seeing only jokes and put-downs from TwoSet regarding the viola, the instrument is now not an option for them. Children shouldn't take social media so seriously but unfortunately they just do, we're in that sort of world. I guess my request to TwoSet would be: please don't make so many jokes about the viola OR at least share the playful insults about certain instruments around evenly. Lastly, I must share that one of my viola students (aged 8) has decided to drop music entirely and switch to sports because she couldn't deal with all the negative comments about the viola, particularly coming from TwoSet and the comments section in their videos. In the decision to give up viola, my student blames TwoSet and the people in the comments section that help "spread" negativity. Sorry for the ramble/the novel I have written. This topic is just very important for me to write about and bring to light.

@@liamnevilleviolist1809 i would love to see that video and see two set react to it. They’re my favorite youtubers and i know they’d 100% change if they saw they where taking music away from children.
Viola is an awesome instrument ❤️
Two set fans be like:👁️👄👁️
Seriously, anyone who dares to joke about this BEAUTIFUL instrument should be ashamed...

This is really inspiring me to get back to playing viola
Vuelvo a escuchar este concierto y me refirmo en que Cristina es una excelente violista .Este instrumento es uno de mis preferidos aunque frecuentemente se le relega a un papel secundario.
Viola is such an amazing instrument!
I just fell in love when I’ve heard this one, as a violinist I can say, that viola is beautiful instrument 😍🎻

I wonder why classical era composers made such beautiful viola concertos 🥺✨ and they seems to care about the best sound range of viola omg thank youu composers! Beautiful performance, btw! Bravo ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️😻
My viola teacher is making me learn this at the moment, so excited!!! 🎉
Your sound in viola is amazing
Brava
This performance is so bright and joyful it makes me want to play this piece for my next recital. So good!
Best concerto I have ever played on the Viola so far and it's a really beautiful piece
Sounds so amazing, I love the sound of the viola!
viola has such a rich tone and i adore it
I had forgotten the sound of a viola and how it has a deeper tone than the violin. So graceful and lovely like a miniature cello you play on the shoulder.
Admirable interpretación. Como violista sé que es un instrumento difícil de tocar y más aún de que suene así de bien y sobre todo de solista. Calurosos aplausos!
What lovely musicianship and an excellent performance!
I came here from the reddit post.. I really love this video

Cristina y Patricia thank YOU for playing/posting this great performance! I have heard that this can be a difficult piece (I wouldn’t know personally, i play violin), and the tone and sound on the viola is beautiful!
Young and extremely talented Cristina played with verve this beautiful piece by this rarely heard composer who wrote that lovely Serenade from the String Quartet Op. 3 No.4(the second Movement Andante Cantabile which is erroneously attributed to Haydn. Cristina is in command, and eminently so. I have heard other versions too. We need to hear more of lovely Cristina. Joseph Titus.
Brava! Such a beautiful performance. For future performances, please consider adding a bassoon to the basso continuo section. As with so many works of that period (around 1786) such as concertos and symphonies by Haydn and Mozart, it was common practice to write only "basso continuo" (or even only "basso") in the score, and when wind instruments were in the orchestra (such as the common pairing of 2 oboes and 2 horns), it was taken for granted that bassoons would also be part of the orchestra. Nikolas Harnoncourt is one of the few conductors in modern times who included bassoons with the winds in such cases. I would love to hear this piece done that way too :-)

Did you ever play the full concerto? If so can you link a recording if there is one. And great performance love the phrasing and open sound must have taken a lot of practice to get there.
Splendid playing and colour! What cadenza edition did you use?
Respect I decided to just branch out and see what viola has to offer… it’s nice sounds really good… correction she sounds really good
You're so amazing. I hope at some point I can play violin as well as the level you've mastered viola (they're twins haha). What would you advise as good exercises to build up with the speed we play? So, like to play as fast as you just did, whats the first step to build that skill? I'm pretty advanced but I'm stuck on being accessible all over my instrument. I really hope to build these skills so I can audition to a symphony. Great work.
The Hilary Hahn of viola
Congratulation for your exibition! Can I ask you what kind of cadenz ddi you play. There are lot of kind at petrucci, but I can't find yours. I have a autition in January and I'm studing Hoffmeister. Gould yoù help me with that part. Thanky and good luck! Marry Christmas!
