Hockey Yoga Transformed My Skating

Спорт

What would happen if I did Hockey Yoga for 33 days straight? Could I transform my skating? Would I lose my explosiveness? I took the challenge to find out.
I ran through 3 tests before the challenge and then completed 20+ minutes of hockey yoga for 33 days straight and re-tested. Watch the video to see the crazy results! I knew yoga was great for hockey players, but this challenge showed just how powerful it can be for someone who is tight or immobile.
If you want to get started with our Hockey Yoga sessions make sure you download the Hockey Training TV app.

*Great points... I still believe in Yoga and Ballet for hockey as other sports... Never liked it when I was a player, but of course, now I see why my coaches made us do it as a coach myself.*

I didn’t realize hockey yoga was a thing. I wonder if there’s a form yoga for every sport. Or even random tasks like putting away the dishes yoga. Good stuff.

Most of the time for hockey we call it mobility routine for hockey... more appealing for kids.

there is no question that yoga/stretching for sure makes you a better skater. more fluid, quicker on the ice and faster. and less soreness the next day

I'm gonna try this. I bet it makes you feel so loose and good. My mom tried to push me to learn yoga, said it would benefit me in hockey. I laughed. Oh how wrong I was. Listen to your parents kids

The word Yoga is sanskrit for the linking back to the source, i.e.=mind to body connection. Using the breath we teach our self to make the mind body connection with all our movements through the physical world. Everything is yoga. When you are crouched down, under the kitchen sink, cranking a pipe wrench and remember to breath deeply and fully, despite the cramped conditions. That is Yoga. Specifically; Plumbing Yoga.

Is it ok to do this 33 days challenge during the in-season? Or is it better to wait in the off-season?

Yup, although I would slightly alter it and on game days only do like a 5 minute routine in the morning instead of a full 20 minute session.

I know hockey is quite expensive but would it be possible for an 18 year old to go to a higher league or is it too late? I’ve never played before but I really wanted to would it still be worth it?

I’ve binge watched every video and I’ve set up a makeshift area in my garage while using a stick that’s my roommates and is also way too small but that’s about all when it comes to experience

It's never too late. You'll have an uphill battle but the worst that could happen is that you get to enjoy the best sport in the world and you'll be able to play in the adult leagues when your regular "career" is finished!

if you can handle getting chirped for a game, can you do a POV vid of you at beer league where you point out common mistakes/go over gamesense that some of us may need/want refreshers on? ive noticed you guys focus a lot on the fundies and fitness which is fantastic, its helped a lot of us, but i think itd be cool if you dove more into actually playing the game
