So in a way, I disagree with you exile that you should auto-lose if tabled, the idea that you can still win on objectives makes it feel more like a narrative war - where loss of troops isn’t necessarily loss of battle

Games don't end just because you're tabled unless you choose to surrender - a judge won't immediately decide for you that you've lost because of how the game looks, so it's up to your own judgement about whether or not you should surrender. There's always more ways to win than just overwhelming your opponent, but that depends on just how tactical or lucky you are against the odds.

I went to a store years ago. One of the guys working there was running a side business painting peoples armies. He would do it using his brother as a front. This guy came in who was a lawyer. They sold him power game list armies. They assembled and painted the armies on the side. This guy spent thousands on models and getting them painted. The brothers and the lawyer dominated the store games. I played all 3 of them at different times. They were highly competitive and not to much fun to play against. I came into the store one day and was going to play a guy and the store manager said I had to play one of them. I said there is 2 tables they can play each other. I was going to play against the the guy I was with. The manager said no they don`t want to play each other. I said whats the point they have won so many times. He said to bad they are next up. The store games almost went away except when one of the 3 hero`s kicked the crap out of a newbe.

8:37 there’s a lady on KZread who wears older style clothing (including corsets) and she makes most of her own clothes, but according to her, corsets weren’t like what you see in S&M stuff/Sisters of Battle (and they’re wearing stylized power armor, they could Kool Aide man through rockcrete while singing hymns about how they’re going to burn you-why doesn’t anybody write about that!?) and they were more like what a modern back brace would be in that it helped support and distribute the weight of all the heavy clothes the person was wearing. And common women weren’t wrenching it down super tight, because they had to work in their clothes. The crazy shit (as always) was done by the rich high-riders.

It sounds awfully obnoxious in that store. The worst thing is that the guy obviously cheated, and throwing opponent's models should have got him immediately banned. Also, I disagree with you, war is about taking objectives, troops are disposable, achieving objectives is what win wars. Therefore if a player is just there to curbstomp the opponent and loses on points that is no surprise, because they aren't playing the game. Really late to the game here: Im just recently getting back into the hobby, the last time i played was nearly 20 years ago. I understand the "not liking losing the game even though you tabled your opponent" but i feel this is a good thing in the recently edition. Its easy to build an army that is just designed to kill, then play every single game like a team death match. Regardless of the missions, strategies or tactics...you just play your army the same way, try to kill kill kill and win win win. Now however, you cant just play TDM every game, you MUST think strategic and capture objective and score points. You are forced to think of the objectives other than just throwing dice and killing models.

Some just get off on having their stories told, some people like the attention, hell obviously from your original post you know there is such a popular genre of it that it's spawned it's own meme about " then everyone started clapping". Maybe I'm being to much of an asshole pointing this out but I think it damages the true stories of accomplishments that happened when these stories get too much traction, though some people don't care if it's the truth or not as long as a story is well crafted. I think the eye roll moment for me was the cringe inducing part where the gal starts holding up fingers to proclaim victory, people do odd shit but that's a little overboard, and the swift whit dick jokes reek of someone who hasn't spent much time around an actual female in their lives. sure girls have a sense of humor but 99.999999% of them don't let go with those kinds of quips unless they are in a comfortable position and sure as hell not about a customer in a place of employment, who wants to be fired that bad? Ditto to the actual manager making a quip about a customers weight in a store, c'mon how likely is a manager gonna do that to someone who spends money in that store? I could buy them politely telling the dude off, maybe even threatening a ban if insults were uttered again, but humiliation to a paying customer? Naaaah. I wasn't gonna comment but screw it. This story is obviously bullshit, or if there is any truth in it at all it's obviously over dramatized. How many times do we see this same exact story before we realize it's a Disney made for TV special repackaged in another form to tell a story to the audience. Let's point out the similarities shall we? 1. It's always always always an outlier to the core demographic in these tails. If the core is straight white males you can bet it's damn well gonna be the plucky girl, gay guy, lesbian, different race, etc. 2. This hero is always gifted with the skill to totally humiliate their opponents ( except the big bad which we will get to). 3. They are not only pro's at the exact skill they need to take out the toxic villain they also have the damnedest ability to say just the right thing at the right time . 4. Increasingly toxic villains on the way to the big bad to ramp up tension 5. Incredible epic massive explosive show down, I'll give the dude credit though he actually differed from the path slightly with the game having to continue which usually doesn't happen but is not completely unheard of. 6. Backtracking a bit but the cringe as fuck gimmick of holding up the fingers as each opponent falls to the heros talent. 7. When all hope seems lost the win is secured through some random thing everyone just happened to forget. 8. The thunderous applause as everyone stands up and claps for the brave courageous outlier hero who beats the mean ol' bullies . I'm not ragging on anyone that likes these stories but come on man you are obviously an intelligent individual who knows a fairy story from the truth

The closest thing I got to a "then everyone clapped" ending IRL was when I timed perfectly against a hot nerd girl. Not made up, seriously, she did have both brains and looks, but her attitude was the one of a Diva that couldn't be put down. It was in class, after all of us, normies and misfits didn't understand what to do in an exercise. She called us on being lazy bums while I had the Reese Wilkinson reaction a night before ("I don't get it, I don't get it, I don't get it... Stupid, stupid, stupid..." Then berate myself, cried a little and do arm exercises and dry runs). So after she was told to do another two exercises next day and explain them to the rest of the class. Me as a reformed problem child and now permanent misfit at school, put my 110% focus on her, not a hard thing to do since she was hot, but then she said "I didn't do the second exercise..." And I hit her hard by saying "Because she is a lazy bums!" None clapped but the reaction on their faces told me everything, I was the hero to save them.

Don't worry the story is bs anyhow. As a woman would you risk your employment to embarrass a customer by making fun of the size of his manhood in front of a whole store? I doubt it. The whole thing reeks to me of someone who hasn't spent 5 minutes around an actual gal in his life

Hard disagree about tabling being an automatic loss Everyone loves the story of the heroes who literally give it all to achieve the greater victory. If I kept you from dominating for 4 turns, achieving the Pyrrhic victory, having taken more primary and/or secondary points, then I made the nessisary trades to win despite loss of units. Nothing is more "Warhammer" than treating your people as chaff, to satisfy the ends.

Thinking the point of the game is to kill all of your opponents is a poor understanding of war. Just ask American commanders of the Vietnam war why they eventually lost to Vietnam. I'm sorry but, winning on points, is the whole point.

I have not won many 40k games when you tally up points (as we always did even back in 5th, 6th and 7th) but I have a stupidly high Kill/Death ratio with like, my crisis teams-I’ve killed every primarch I’ve faced and haven’t been impressed by them, they seem like a points sink. I kinda wish they did a more…general army buffing thing, 40k Guilliman is pretty close but I mean like, Mortarion makes the Deathguard even more resistant to moral (so you might could take larger squads if you wanted) because the Deathguard didn’t give a crap like the Iron Warriors. And Magnus should basically be like a D&D bard where he makes the sorcerers better casters (though I think the Ksons have that anyways in their legion trait…) First Primarch I’m getting is Angron. I really wished that Sanguiness was better looking (the official model) I don’t like the pose, and there’s another one that a guy around here uses as his Sanguinor and it’s *awesome* wings up, a winged helm, big spear, sword on his hip and his base is him stepping on a blood thirsters neck. I’m not a blood angels player or fan, vampires squick me out, but Sanguinius is probably one of my favorite Primarchs.

Only parts that seem off to me is bits of the final game but that could just be how the story was given to exile. I’ve met these guys before I know the type, sadly though as a large goth guy in the 2000’s who likes leather jackets and now has a beard I do worry about mistaken identity somewhat. Lol (folks normally give me a free pass when they realise they can’t smell me across a room) ;)

The biggest problem is most people play SM and have very average teams. So I bring SM models I have that might be good against me for them to borrow and try
