Oh dear. You know Monty Python and the Holy Grail's "Get on with it!"? That's how I felt in that first story. It's not so much the lack of hobby but dude, all that purple prose and pointless padding. I'm sorry to be negative, but man that was a pretty pretentious submission. :/ They're usually so good as well. Back to normal service in the next one hopefully.

One of the worst experiances i had at a GW store was last year, being told my Repentia models were on the wrong sized bases so i could not play with them. Funny thing was one year ago i bought the Repentia as the first warhammer models i had purchased in 14 years, and i put them on 32mm bases becuse they were what came in the box. I thought this was normal but was then told they were meant to be on 28mm bases. But the store employee would not listen to my story despite me having bought the Repentia from that store. This was a product error and i was punished and have still to this day not been able to play them in casual games at the store, i put so much work into them so did not want to cut them off the bases. completly made me sour towards the warhammer stuff and now i just watch other gaming and lore videos and do not buy the models anymore.

Do you still get involved with other brands or other parts of the hobby? I gave up on GW ages ago but still print/paint/build/play a ton of games too and I could not recommend it more! It's great. GW sucks ass for soooo so many reasons like this crap and they don't deserve your time and money but I can promise that it isn't as bad outside of GW.

My gosh, wtf kind of pizza place/neighborhood was this!? What a bunch of characters! I know it wasn't exactly hobby, but I still loved the story and hearing your reaction to it, North. So glad I discovered this channel as it's been going great with building and painting my undead.

Can you put timestamps for each story? I want to hear the wrong model story not pizza story

I'm pretty sure there's been guys who have been jailed when the girl had a fake ID still. Just don't participate in degeneracy and you don't have to worry about it.

It is a legal defence in the UK, but only if they're over 13. If they're under 13 and give a fake ID, it doesnt matter, jail. Also if you meet a girl in a bar that has ID checking on the door its reasonable to assume that they are "of age", as they are assumed to be over 18 (in the UK) to be in the bar and therefore legal, but again ,only if they're over 13. But definitely, avoid bar whores and its amazing how many rape accusations you don't get! XD)

In a casual game, ask your opponent. Most people won’t care so long as you’re clear about the wargear and model it’s representing. In a tournament setting, you’d need to clear it with the TO beforehand. The model would also need to either be accurate to the rough size and silhouette of a VenDread, or you’d need an actual VenDread on hand for measuring and line of sight purposes.

For context: Dominos in those days was so bad they had a national marketing campaign apologizing for the quality when they changed their recipes

How do I send you a story

The thing with competitive play is that it requires 2 ingredients. The first and most obvious is the ability to power gsme, understand the game and use units to your advantage. The last ingredient and the one many people seem to forget is having decent sportsmanship.

Having worked in a few chain restaurants while I was in college, I can attest that every one had at least a few characters like this. These are the types of people preparing that $50 meal you ordered.

As an artist we LIVE for descriptions like these especially for ‘Run-Dal’ lol, might just draw the dude

16:20 in, if you think someone is underage in a club (18+ venue) should you not quietly tell the bouncer? Verify through them? NGL having been someone who looks young for their age (I still get ID these days occasionally) I don't want to show my ID to random people in a bar or club just because they think I look young: I'd rather show it once to the bouncer or official staff and have them vouch for me, that way I can keep my exact d.o.b & last/middle name secret if I want.

I went through a phase when I was younger were I had more money than sense pre marriage and mortgage and I was running Tau,Dark Angels and Chaos Armies, Imperial Knights if I wanted it I bought it and The one thing I'll never forget in a main GW shop is going in one day and trying to purchase a Sisters Of Battle Army and it was cast sisters not the plastic set that later came out this was the old school cast metal immolator and cast metal sisters and the guy at the store literally trying to talk me out of buying £150 worth of figures and buy Horus Heresy instead lol anyway I went ahead and ordered the SOB figures they got sent to me and I realised I wasn't a good enough painter to paint metal and ended up putting them on ebay anyway lol but I'll never forget the fact for the first time in history a GW employee tried to talk me out of buying anything and he said they weren't popular and were getting phased out of the lore and like two years later they got the plastic sets and big lore push 😂. I appreciate we're all only human though and he did try and do me a solid.

I'm curious in how said people got away with the scam considering that most places nowadays have cctv in shops to prevent theft.

Now hold on, i think the passion of 40k is what YOU make of it, not of what the event your playing is. I go to plenty of RTTs / ITC events (3-5 game events) that are considered "tournaments" and people are amazing, hell people bring fairly narrative or flavorfull lists. And ive met some seriously wonderful highly competitive players bringing new and old players of 40k into these events, and we all have an absolute blast. The hobby is what you make of it. I love a good crusade and also tournament pack games. I dont think its right to insult either side of the hobby or call the way they play "wrong"

When it comes to "official" it gets a bit fishy for the Land Raider. Obviously the old school plastic kit is cool, as are the version (and recuts) of the version that came out since 2001, plus I'd accept the Horus Heresy version if reasonably equipped. Did you know that in between the two Land Raider kits, around 1999-2000, GW sold an "official Land Raider conversion kit" that consisted of RT era Rhino hull, Leman Russ tracks, and various metal bits? I'd argue that that also counts as "official", as it was literally sold by GW as a Land Raider. They also had an old-school papercraft template in a White Dwarf which arguably could count. To make matters even more tricky, the company (really old days here) specifically said to use an Emhar WWI tank with GW bits to make a Land Raider. Now, is that one "official"?

You're going to keep getting your feelings hurt as long as you continue to put yourself in competitive games with this idiotic expectation that you get to dictate exactly how competitively everyone else is allowed to play. Everything isn't all about you.

It wouldn't be because scrubs like you get some kind of power fantasy out of appointing yourself to tell everyone else how to play, would it? (That's rhetorical; we both know that's why) The funny thing is when an actually fair and skill based game like Guild Ball or Infinity 3ed comes out people just like you bitch to the devs to change it because a 100% skill based game means that you lose 100% of your games. (And, of course, everything is all about you)

YES! as a 30 year casual player, I'm not a fan of how the game seems to cater to the competitive basement dwellers.
