I've started to draw especially animals and plants. It's a learning curve.I enjoy using charcoal pencils. I make mistakes but continue to try. My mistakes make me laugh which is a great thing to do. Yoga has always been my life long hobby. Never think you are too old to try something different.

I have learned to crochet and it calms my mind!!! I crochet while I'm watching television. I am making scarves for the homeless next Winter. I should have a lot crocheted by Winter. I love to make seasonal wreaths! I love to bake cakes. Everyone loves to receive a cake out of the blue! There was a lady in Atlanta, Ga. who was called "The Cake Lady". She made pound cakes and took them to the local fire department, to sick friends, or just for someone's birthday. I would like to be known as that!

I taught myself how to paint in acrylics at the age of 55! I will turn 60 this summer and now find myself conducting paint parties from time to time for family (free of course...lol). Along the way I have become somewhat of a jewelry designer and have sold many of my creations. I would make myself something, send one to my sister and before I knew it, everyone in her office was asking for several of my products (bracelets, necklaces, earrings, decorated mirrors). Just the other day, I told my husband that there is so much I want to learn....I don't know if the next 50 yrs will be enough. I am having a ball!

I’ve been playing drums since I was 8. I joined a Scottish Pipe band and enjoy it very much, and I draw using the cartoon characters I created when I was 10. Crafting with clay and drawing animals and flowers is also calming. This is a great thing to bring up and remind us all what we love to do or at least used to do.

When I was in my early twenties I saved money out of every paycheck in hopes to make it to art school. Well, life happened and I never made it. Here it is over 40 years later and I've retired, so now I have time and I'm doing art every day! I write something too every day. And I love photography too! It has changed my outlook on life from feeling exhausted by life's challenges to feeling free to create and enjoy the freedom to be me. I don't have a vlog or anything, but who knows what the future will bring, right? Love to you!

When I was 22 I took a couple of art classes. Had to take drawing & design before paint class. Then I got married & dropped out of college. I went back 35 years later. I loved college and learned to paint, finally !!! Now I paint all the time. It.s never too late to go back to school. And if you are 60, I think you can go for free-but you won't get degree. Check it out !!!

Thank you Margaret for so much inspiration I have recently retired! I was given arts and craft supplies, an enormous pots and pans collection, teas, and pumpkin spice cookies! And a gift card for groceries! With so much time on my hands, I have been baking cookies, swimming, and making beads out of catalogue paper! The paper craft is just to relax, because I went through a serious year and a half of senior abuse! Also journaling is helpful!

I’m 70… I have or have had so many interests. Over time I find I’m satisfied to do something I’m interested in for a few years or a season then move on to another new interest. Travel is my number ONE interest, I write my life stories, I read almost all topics, study Biblical history and Silver Sneakers Exercise and walking are a few things I’m currently doing. I have served 14 years as an Ombudsman…an advocate for nursing home residents. Since 2004 I’ve been a Master Gardener. I putter around with flowers, plants and vegetables in pots. I’m interested in the future doing more envelope and card making also painting rocks and canvases. I volunteer driving older people to appointments, serving under privileged people meals at a local church supported establishment and going on Medical and Disaster Mission trips.

Hi Margaret. I have done many hobbies like painting, quilting, crocheting, gardening. I even made masks for people who couldn’t get any early on in the pandemic. Right now my main hobby is raising and training my 8 month old cockatiel named Pete. I am teaching him to whistle songs and to talk. He keeps me busy along with my two 13 year old dogs and a 73 year old husband because he’s like having a child. LOL

Hi Margaret, I couldn’t agree more about this video. It’s truly important for people our age to have hobbies because these allow us to sharpen our mind, stay healthy, and relief stress. This also allows us to tap into any talents we posses that we might not know about. More importantly having hobbies is a great way to combat loneliness, since we get to connect more with people who have similar interests here in Reviving Mind’s programs.

I am trying to adjust to not working full time (I volunteer now) and kids living in another state, also my husband continues to work and business travel....so I find myself alone. Oh dear..well I was an Occupational therapist (retired) and continue to give advise on just about anything to my friends and my children’s friends. So I took some of my own. In some class I remember the teacher stating that to completely retire from the 40 hour a week career/job, you need to have 30 activities that you can engage in. Well I tried and I couldn’t come up with 30, not even 10! So started my journey. Encouraged by my wonderful daughter to use social media as my outlet and share the discovery with my friends and anyone else who needs ideas and a smile. So I actually created a pie chart (I have so much paper, crayons and colored pencils left over from my kids school projects- remember those? Ha) and started posting on Instagram. I would like to start a blog and am learning the technical side of it now. Oh dear, couldn’t I just talk into a mic and have it magically appear? My 60’s will be my curious years, because I never had the time to indulge myself. If you’d like to follow me I’m at, instagram.com/dancelong100 And I’m working on setting up my blog with the help of my wonderful daughter. I’m calling it Thirty Pieces Of Pie.

Where are the 68 things to do? I am 64, disabled after losing my job, close family, husband, friends, pets & with no children! I would love to travel but am financially & physically burdened. I am extremely bored with TV/internet entertainment. I am full of pain - dealing with all arthritic conditions, muscle, nerve & eye damage. I spent my life as an over-achiever. cross stitch and knitting are my passions. Designing them is even more. I've always wanted to be an entrepaneur but I don't know where to start as knitting takes alot of time and money for quality yarn. I've thought about teaching knitting or cross stitch. I majored in music and had 5 scholarships but changed to a nursing major after first quarter. I hope to get more into playing piano again. Music is so healing to me. I would love to travel but no money right now. Sewing is another thing I want to get into. I have the space and table, but need lighting. So many things I love to do. It's ineresting because my morning Bible reading was Ecclesiastes which really reflects what we do with life. Basically enjjoying life otherwise anything else is meaningless it says.

Hello Jennifer. I do basic knitting and it has served me well. But recently I went to a local yarn shop (yes, you are right, good yarn costs a fortune) to enquire about private lessons on stranded (multicolour) knitting. The shop assistant told me she charges $35.00 per hour for private lessons. So, I am planning to take a few lessons with her. I am in Canada, so I don't know what you could charge where you are (USA?) As for lighting, I was really surprised a few months ago when I came across a chrome angle arm light in Walmart--for sitting on a table. It does not look cheap or flimsy and has a sturdy weighted bottom (something like myself!). Anyway, it was less than $40.00. You could always substitute the regular light bulb with an LED daylight bulb or something like that. Good luck! Hope to see some of your creations posted.

yes Janet I've been in nursing for 36 years. I became a nurse practitioner 25 years ago. I think my career is almost to an end. I have had many opportunities to help people in looking back and feel so appreciative of the chances to do so. Helpinng others really helps ourselves and takes our minds off our own problems.

I have knittedsoooo much since a car accident in January and I think it is part of my therapy. I have not tried stranded or fair isle knitting yet. I do design some colorwork though. So you are a lovely lady, but I would have loved to hear you a little better. I have my computers volume on high, and could barely hear you.
