If it was on MY side of the doorframe, it got tossed. Eventually, he was asked to leave. It took me three days to clean out that room, and he never came back to finish it, so I took it over to HIS house and dumped it on his yard. Never looked back. I watch these videos to remind me of what COULD HAVE HAPPENED, but DIDN'T, because I took CONTROL of the situation. @@Ginasgusa Yah, l unfortunately had the same situation. The family l stayed with this past winter, had lead me to think I was getting a good deal because the rent was so cheap and l would be buying an RV from them. I didn't know the home was in that condition until l arrived and had made the deal. The women just made a mess and didn't pick up or clean a thing. Her and her husband guilt tripped her autistic son to wash their dishes once a week. She told me the first day I stayed, her parents were rich. But, sadly the only sign of that was she thought everyone was supposed to wait on her. Sad! I was so glad l got out of that trap alive. For the longest they acted like they weren't going to let me have the RV after l had invested money and time washing their mounted room full of smelly, dirty clothes. Fortunately it's all over, but it still haunts me from time to time.

My step dad was a hoarder, and my mother was messy. So when they got married when I was 8, I watched their house slowly turn into a hoard. I didn’t realize it was hoarding because they kept all of their things in labeled crates and insisted every one was important. If you needed something specific they knew where it was for the most part. But then my boyfriend comes over for the first time and is absolutely disgusted. Me and my siblings slept on the floor because our beds and bedrooms were filled TO THE CEILING with STUFFED ANIMALS. The bathroom was filled entirely every inch of floor with dirty laundry. The halls only had a small pathway to walk through, walls of boxes surrounding you. Windows blocked up with blankets tapped over them. The kitchen sink was always full the table was always full of trash so you couldn’t even sit down and eat together. Mice pooped on our clean dishes so you always had to rewatch them before using them... So crazy to live that way!!!! I now have a problem actually keeping stuff or buying nice things for myself or my kids because “it’s just stuff and it doesn’t actually matter” where really im just traumatized by how much stuff people own that they never use... (even normal people with their excessive books in their book shelves, or owning a bunch of clothing, or people that have like 10 pairs of bedsheets for one bed...)

I think it's a chicken and egg situation; it's cyclical. Their health is bad, so their lives are limited, so they keep more stuff sometimes to fill the void that is there from not being able to do what they used to. Sometimes their physical challenges prevent them from disposing of things and cleaning things. At the same time, the hoard contributes to their poor health. They are breathing in tons of dust and debris, they can't move around, which contributes to their poor mobility.
