Great Video Chris! I use a similar process with the very fine sanding block but I follow mine up with WD40 and give it a good wide down. The WD40 does a really good job cleaning the Viper routed track and is how Viper recommends cleaning the track plus it helps prevent corrosion on the rails. I used WD40 on my AFX track as well.

I use armor all and the sand paper sponge works great and armor all protects the plastic also.

Hi Chris, I have the same AFC Giant Raceway but expanded it to totally fit on a 5'x9' table, I use the same process but on the raised track I use a 12,000 grit micro paper works great. Great video keep them coming. Al

I also use a can air blower like you would use to clean a computer keyboard to blow out the slots. Works very well.

I do the same type of thing. I have track that is 50 years old as well. I use the sanding block and then I followed up with 409 cleaner.

May I ask about the use of both Inox and WD 40 ? I have a newer Carrerra layout that has been expanded . I’m noticing dead spots where the brushes aren’t connecting well . Before I use something new, I’d like to hear what others have used that worked . Thank you for any help offered .

@@markmed9091 hey Mark, so many things have been used to clean tracks. The HO track rails are much different than yours but plastic is plastic. I felt the armor all cleaner was just easier and safer than any petroleum products on the plastic. For the rails I use a super fine grit sanding block. For your dead spots you might try a light sanding with 1000+ grit sand paper. Check in with Slot Valley Racing and see if he has any input on your dead spots.
