it must of been a massive impact on the economy when the fleet left in 78, sorry about that we are the ones that sort of left you by refusing to accept that referendum where you could join the UK, I suppose it was period when we were trying to wipe away any sign of imperialism at any cost, even to the detriment of the locals! But hey you guys are doing well now I believe your economy is pretty well now but if you ever want the fleet back im sure we'd love to come back!

@@keithwatson1384 there is a strong argument that Valletta Harbour should be leased to HM government so that a new British Mediterranean Fleet be formed. It would be amazing to see HM Queen Elizabeth enter Valletta Harbour!

In 1966 I worked with a girl whose fiancee was drafted there. Before foreign holidays became common she couldn't believe their luck it was like having a two year Mediterranean holiday at least for her I don't know how her husband went on

I have been many times to Malta. Even thought of moving and settling, went to estate agents looking for property. Was offered employment. Too old now to make the move, and my other half has passed. But the state of the U.K. as it is today I wish I did move.
