Installment of a cultural medallion honoring Christo and Jeanne-Claude on April 18, 2024. The program was led by Barbaralee Diamonstein-Spielvogel, Chair of Historic Landmarks Preservation Center and NYC Landmarks60 Alliance. Participants included Adrian Benepe, President, Brooklyn Botanic Garden; Paul Goldberger, Pulitzer Prize-winning architectural critic; Agnes Gund, President Emerita, Museum of Modern Art/ Founder, Studio in a School; Judith Pisar, UNESCO Special Envoy for Cultural Diplomacy; Michael Kimmelman, former Chief Art Critic, and current Architecture Critic, The New York Times. In addition, the presentation includes a special musical performance by the Brooklyn Youth Chorus, to commemorate the upcoming 60th Anniversary of the passage of the NYC landmarks law in 2025. Included as well is a personal statement about Christo and Jeanne-Claude from Rick Kinsel, President and CEO of The Vilcek Foundation.
