You're off on his early history. Putin got sent to Dresden specifically because he was not outstanding among his peers at the KGB. The more favored roles were in Leningrad and Moscow. If you were sent to a different country, you wanted to be in the capitol, not a secondary city. At this point in his career, Putin was somewhat floundering. It wasn't until the fall of the wall and him standing down the crowd outside the embassy that we get the first idea that this guy is maybe a little more than meets the eye.

I grew up in a communist-leaning family so it's hard for me to not be biased towards Russia if that makes any sense. I often find myself falling into fanatism and I always try to correct that tendency. Having that said I don't think it's entirely accurate to say that the Ukraine war is Russia vs Ukraine. I'd argue it's already a World War albeit by proxy. The amount of support Ukraine is receiving from many countries around the globe is astounding and I'm sure Russia is getting more help than what they'd like to admit. The whole situation is concerning because it's very close to being a direct confrontation just like in the old days. I can only wish a direct confrontation never happens.

Finally one that can actually understand both sides. The thing is, you'd only get this mindset if you were brought up on the Eastern Bloc. NATO idealists don't even try to understand Russia. When your a powerful nation sometimes you have to do what you have to do. Even when it’s horrific and most who haven’t seen combat or what goes on behind the scenes will react badly to it. Understandably though. This world isn’t unicorns and fairy dust, bad things happen. Sometimes for the worse and sometimes for the good. Pick your poison. I agree that the US can be just as brutal. Every empire throughout history has done some messed up things to maintain power. Especially China and Japan. Their war was brutal.
@dominokos

Life really has always been and always will be a big game of pick your poison. Yes, every empire and even every state or really any larger collective organsiation does evil things. The difference between "The West" and countries like Russia or China is "The West" will use violence to coerce people into unfavorable deals, whereas Russia will slaughter a population and loot their remains wholesale. As seen in the current conflict. China is a bit more inspired by the American way in their international dealings, but is also fully committed to violently quelling any form of dissent. In my view of history these kinds of approaches work very well, moreso nowadays with today's technology and avenues of control, but I doubt it can work longterm. Might be wrong though. Can't say for sure. But the Russian way is absolutely a dead-end to my eyes. As much as Ukraine may be a walking zombie - and a last line of defense before the biggest war in history - propped up by Western influence, Russia due to the unsuccessful nature of the "military operation" has fully transitioned into a puppet of the CCP. Russia is completely and utterly dependent on Chinese influence, and even the deal with Kim Jong-Un is just a Chinese arms deal in disguise.

How do "dummy" torpedoes detonate, prematurely or otherwise? Huh?
@rowanwilliams4583
3 ай бұрын
I have no clue but maybe the engines which push them through the water malfunctioned leading to an explosion?
@flixri726
Ай бұрын
As far as I know, the assumed theory is that the fuel mixture of the torpedo exploded. The explosives themselves are rather inert as long as there is no sufficient detonator, but the fuels are highly volatile and reactive. A simple leak and contact with a wrong material can cause a runaway reaction, maybe not a detonation but a very fast deflagration, which in a confined space becomes an explosion by itself.

An interesting video touching on many events in Russia. But very often some events are not disclosed, for example, conspiracy theories about “Ryazan Sugar”, a submarine (the question was asked immediately after the joke and in the original it is clear how almost immediately Putin begins to talk about it seriously), about the causes of the war in Georgia, when Russian UN peacekeeping troops were attacked first by Georgian troops. An interesting video containing a lot of useful information, but the one-sidedness of the position and all these missed moments created specifically to show Putin in a certain light are very noticeable.
@maksim_cim

And when I talk about missed moments in the video, I don't mean a small number, there are a lot of them throughout the entire video. Living literally in the modern agenda of Russia, living through some of these moments in real time and having been on opposite sides of the barricades, all this, as if a special understatement, is very noticeable. As politicians say, the best lie is the one that contains only the truth.

I feel like Putin's past with the Mafia, and years inbetween Germany and becoming a political figure, are important and there is material about it. So while I find this starts off well, and puts a good headlight on putins early life, I think it moves too fast into becoming relevant to the current historical events, while it could have spend more time on Putin's rise to power

Your analysis appears to have a certain bias, but it suggests that Russia may not be significantly weakened by the Ukraine war, as it appears to be engaged in a long-term strategy. Rather than invading an entire country and engaging in a direct conflict with its people, Russia seems to have established a buffer zone for its own security interests. In this context, Russia has successfully obtained both territory and the support of the local population in eastern Ukraine. It's important to recognize that Russia seems to be playing a strategic game akin to chess, where they carefully plan their moves and anticipate future developments. In contrast, your perspective suggests that some may view Russia's actions through the lens of a simpler game like checkers, missing the subtleties of their strategy. Dismissing Putin or Russia as weak may not be a productive approach, as it's often more prudent to consider one's adversary as a formidable and potentially dangerous force. Preparing for such a scenario can help avoid being caught off guard by unexpected developments in international relations.

Definitely lacking a tremendous amount of vital information to really even crack the shell of starting to understand this man or the history. No mention of the utter corruption in Ukraine nor how the European countries and the US depletion of arms and munitions and further advancing the national debts. The end result of this is just more death of persons and the continuation of this only further exacerbates world trade. The sanctions the US imposed have had a negative effect and Russias partnerships with other nations has only expanded. This is a lose lose for everyone. Reaching some type of peace needs to occur but cannot due to the Ukraine guy making it against the law to negotiate peace.
