Putin's Reign Of Terror: How A Lowly KGB Agent Took Over Russia | The New Tsar | Timeline

How did a poor boy from a tiny flat in St Petersburg become one of the world's most powerful leaders? Admired by Trump and feared by his rivals, on the eve of his almost certain re-election as president of Russia, this film reveals the story of Vladimir Putin's extraordinary rise to power - from a lowly KGB colonel to Boris Yeltsin's right-hand man and ultimately his successor.
There are revelations from Putin's inner circle at the Kremlin, including former confidante Sergei Pugachev, who helped Putin to power before falling from favour. Chess master Gary Kasparov recounts his failed attempt to stand against him and oligarch Mikhail Khordokovsky, who was jailed and stripped of his wealth, speaks of the consequences of experiencing the wrath of Putin.
The programme also hears from former home secretary Jack Straw, who recalls Putin's first encounter with Tony Blair - the leader Putin apparently attempted to model himself on. Straw wryly observes that the two are 'very similar'. Former foreign secretary William Hague entertained Putin during the London 2012 Olympic Games and bonded over a shared love of judo - but later found himself unable to influence the decision made to invade Crimea.

Not true!.. I never knew that George HW Bush was a head of the CIA until the time when he was running to be a president of the US. And then it was mentioned many times during the 1st Iraq's war of expelling Saddam Hussein from the Kuwait, that he previously was the head of CIA. But now, since that was long time ago and he's already dead, it's hardly ever mention. Because it's not as important right now, in the context what happened then and what's going on right now in the world. Unless you are paranoid and delusional Russian leader, for over last 20 years! U are mixing apples with oranges!.. Vladimir Putin 'was' the low ranking KGB officer who eventually became the war criminal who is presently on the loose!... While George WH Bush was very successful American president. Who, with the mandate from the UN and as the US president was legally responsible for the American Armed Forces to expel Saddam Hussein from Kuwait. Unlike Vladimir Putin who is on the wanted list in Haque and don't have access to many countries because of that. That's only contributing to a bigger isolation of the Putin'Z fascist regime in Europe, and in some places in the world.

Found this article worth sharing. 10 year anniversary of the CIA-backed Maidan coup in Ukraine. You wouldn't hear this in the Western media because it doesn't fit the narrative of “it's Russia's fault for the Ukraine conflict”. By KanekoaTheGreat The New York Times disclosed yesterday that the CIA built "12 Secret Spy Bases" in Ukraine, waging a shadow war against Russia for the past decade. After a U.S.-supported violent coup toppled Ukraine's democratically elected government, CIA Director John Brennan visited Kyiv in April 2014. Shortly after, the new Ukrainian government launched an "anti-terror operation" against its Russian-speaking citizens in Eastern Ukraine. For eight years leading up to Russia's invasion in 2022, Ukraine's government, with help from the CIA, relentlessly bombed Eastern Ukraine. Millions of innocent civilians were caught in the crossfire of a geopolitical chess match between Russia and the United States. This is part of the story often ignored by the Western press.

They are not angry, they are working for Mother Russia, persistently promoting Putin's legend, laced with good old counter-propaganda about Russia's backwardness. We can see how "backward" it is at the moment. You have no idea how life in Russia works. If Putin ceases to please the power circles, he will be removed, and there will be a queue of those who want him.

On 24 February 2014, (NOT ZELENSKYY) the new government issued a warrant for Yanukovych's arrest, accusing him of being responsible for the killing of protestors.[21] Yanukovych went into exile in Russia, claiming to still be the legitimate head of state.[22] On 18 June 2015, Yanukovych was officially deprived of the title of president by parliament.[23] On 24 January 2019, he was sentenced in absentia to a thirteen year prison term for high treason by a Ukrainian court.[24] In various polling conducted since his departure from office, Yanukovych was ranked the least popular president in Ukraine's independent history.[25][26][27][28][29] Yanukovych has also given his name to a collective term for blunders made by Ukrainian politicians: Yanukisms.

Please remember that the Olympics have been held five times in history in countries controlled by dictatorships. War has broken out before and after every Olympics. World War II occurred after the 1936 Berlin Olympics, the Soviet Union invaded Afghanistan before the 1980 Moscow Olympics, Russia invaded Georgia during the 2008 Beijing Olympics and annexed the Crimean Peninsula and Eastern Ukraine after the Sochi Winter Olympics in 2014, After the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics Russia launched a war against Ukraine. Although China was not directly involved in the wars that invaded Georgia and Ukraine in 2008 and 2022, but it openly supported Putin. The Olympics were originally a symbol of peace for mankind, but now it has become a clarion call for war in authoritarian countries.

44:00 - 46:17 Hmmm... it's a literal lie (not the only one, but the most blatant) Georgia consists of three former Soviet republics - Georgia, Abkhazia and South Ossetia. Abkhazia and South Ossetia do not want to be part of Georgia. Their authorities have not been subordinate to the Georgian authorities since 1991. The war in Georgia in 2008 was started by Saakashvili - Georgia, who decided to subjugate these recalcitrant republics, deciding that NATO would support him. Russian troops have been in South Ossetia since 1992 (after the war between Georgia and South Ossetia) and acted as peacekeepers there. When Saakashvili decided to launch an invasion of South Ossetia, Russian troops also came under artillery fire. Russia's actions were in response to the invasion and killing of their peacekeepers. From the very beginning, the operation had the character of “Forcing Georgia to peace,” which Russia successfully accomplished in 5 days. Realizing that NATO was not going to support Georgia, Saakashvili was so scared that he almost ate his own tie during one of the live broadcasts (this video is on the Internet), after which the Georgian army fled, and Georgia requested negotiations. Georgia started the 2008 war. It is a fact. This fact was confirmed even by an independent European commission to investigate the circumstances of this war. The commission was headed by Heidi Tagliavini.
