History of the Ten Greatest European Royal Houses - Every Year
Ойын-сауық
This video shows the lands ruled by all the male-line descendant of the ten greatest European royal houses.
The ten houses are:
1) The Capetians (including the Robertians, ancostors of Hugh Capet) and their cadet branches (Bourbons, Anjou, Valois, Orleans, Braganza...).
2) The House of Ivrea or Anscarids (including the illegitimate branch of Trastamara) which is the first family to die out in 1530.
3) The House of Obertenghi, an ancient noble family that soon split into two branches: the Italian one will give birth to many important families such as Este, Malaspina, Pallavicino and Cavalcabò, while the German one will become the House of Welf (lately House of Brunswick Luneburg and House of Hannover).
4)The Habsburgs (the House of Habsburg-Lorraine is not included because the Habsburgs male-line ends in 1780 with Maria Theresa).
5) The House of Wettin (including all the many cadet branches, such as Saxe-Coburg-Gotha, lately named Windsor).
6) The House of Savoy and its cadet branches.
7) The House of Wittelsbach and its cadet branches.
8) The House of Hohenzollern and its cadet branches.
9) The House of Oldenburg and its cadet branches (including the Romanov and the Mountbatten-Windsor, to which it belongs King Charles III).
10) The House of Nassau and its cadet branches (the current queen of Netherlands isn't included because she inheredited the crown though his mother, so not though male line).
The ten houses had been chosen following the criteria expressed in this video by @UsefulCharts:

I focused only on the European lands, except for the coastal town in North Africa owned by Spain and Portugal and for the British colonies in Middle East.
Prince-bishoprics and other ecclesiastic territories are not considered.
Only properly monarchs are considered, not regent or king consort.
Due to the lack of data, the land borders may not be accurate, mostly In the first part of the video.

The video is very good, but the point is that it only goes down the paternal line of inheritance - correctly! Great job!
Bel lavoro, bravo Lorenzo.

Nice job, although I probably would have removed the Hohenzollerns for a Eastern European/Byzantine Dynasty.
The Habsburgs did not become extinct in 1780. The Habsburgs lasted until 1918 through the offspring of Maria Theresa

Their lineage is still alive just way more subtle

@@kevinc865 At the end of the video, the Oldenburgs are rightly now on the throne of the United Kingdom. Because you can rename the House of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha to Windsor, and later decide on paper that without a male child, the daughter will carry on the throne (e.g. Pragmatica Sanctio - Habsburgs), but that doesn't change the bloodline...
Should England turn towards the Hapsburg briefly considering Mary 1's marriage and set up as co-ruler with her husband Phillip.
Why is it the color of cafes in Aquitaine or Norman-Anjou in the north of western France from the end of the 11th to the 15th century? Although England was once a vassal of France, isn't it English territory at least after King John? part of Aquitaine

The county of Maine between 1069 and 1093 was part of the Kingdom of France but particularly owned by Alberto Azzo II and then Ugo V, both belonging to the House of Este, which came from the House of Obertenghi (which color was cafes). I may have not understood the second part of your comment; I showed all the vassals of the King of France (therefore also English fiefs like Aquitaine) as part of the Kingdom of France to keep thing a bit simple, unless the fief belonged to a member of another one of the 10 families considered in the video, like in the case of Maine, owned for a while by the Obertenghi. Hope i was clear.
What’s with the disaperance of the Habsburgs in the late 1700’s, is that house not still alive?

The last Habsburg was Maria Theresa; she married Francis I Stephen, member of the House of Lorraine. Their descendants (still alive) are usually called "of Habsburg-Lorraine" but since the children always belong to their father's royal house, they technically belong only to the House of Lorraine. For this reason the "real" Habsburgs disappeared with the death of Maria Theresa in 1780.

Contrary to popular belief, Marie Antoinette wasn't a real Habsbutrg but instead a member of Lorraine. Just like current King of Britain actually belongs to the House of Gluckesburg --> Oldenburg but still uses the name Windsor.
what about Holland ?

@@user-xh8pj5qw7v Above there are more questions about the Habsburgs. The answer is the same for the Dutch throne also. Queen Beatrix is not a man, but a woman. Her husband is Claus von Amsberg. King William Alexander officially created the House of Amsberg, but it is not related to the 10 main dynasties listed here.
Dont forget that some of these owned large chunk of earth by colonial Empires
2024 - Denmark isn't Oldenburg

No its Monpezat, which according to historians isn't a legitimate noble house anyway. They're land owners who come from France but they have no record of being recognised nobility of the time. They are now a cadet branch of Oldenburg though, since 1967, so I guess they've been legitimised since then atleast. Also, on the maternal line, Queen Margarethe II was a Glücksburg, who are also a cadet branch of the house of Oldenberg. The point being, the house of Oldenburg under Friedrich Ferdinand, Prince of Schleswig-Holstein, actually rule Denmark and the UK now, along with Norway too. Luxembourg and Spain are ruled by the Capets, who come from the Robertians. Belgium is ruled by the house of Wettin, Liechtenstein by the house of Liechtenstein, Netherlands by the house of Amsberg, Sweden by the house of Bernadotte. And then theres Monaco, who pretend to be Grimaldis but really they're Polignacs. Who? I hear you ask... Exactly.
