Pungwe mean jackals in Venda. Mapungubwe is located in Venda - South Africa. On google its named after Tshivenda and kalanga. Mapungubwe is Venda history.

actually its a Kalan'ga word... No need to change it to fit other languages... It simply means "Many Jackals" or a place with many Jackals

It was Bantu people at that time. Pay attention to the similarities in many South African languages, sepedi, Setswana, selobedu, Venda and south sesotho. You can’t say only a certain group was alone at that time

You cannot separate those people at the time…simply just say Bantu people.

Venda is a Shona dialect, Mapungubwe was a satellite post of the Great Zimbabwe, of course it lies within the colonial borders of South Africa. Much of the Venda heritage is in Zimbabwe.

lies... the venda langauge is a tshingona dialect (language previously spoken by vhangona). vhangona are the girst inhabitants of the area called vhembe (they are NGWANIWAPO). you have vendas who dont understand shona atall and vise-versa so i refuse your claims as a Venda son of the vhembe soul.

@@amunitionmanyaga299 Venda is a Shona dialect brother, Mapungubwe is a satellite post of the Great Zimbabwe, what you hear people speaki as Shona is a dialect.Shona is a language comprising of various dialects of the Bantu. The Karanga or Zezuru which you hear people speak are just dialects, Venda is one of them.Venda people are originally Zimbabweans, these colonial borders disrupted everything.

i think you are confusing venda people with a group of venda people... venda is a collection of groups that came together as one(e.g. vhatavhatsindi, vhangona, vhashavhi, masingo, etc). The group of venda people that settled in present day zimbabwe are the masingo or singos it is not the entire nation. dimbanyika is one of the kings that left bokalanga (as zimbabwe was known to us then) and came to dzata1. mapungubwe predated great zimbabwe by many years my friend - it is the 1st civilisation in the south like egypt was to the north. this great zimbabwe that you talk about came later and was succeeded by the kindom of monomotapa. some of those so called dialects that you talk of did not even exist at this point because some languages were created after a long period different tribes settling and trading together. Venda is a collection of groups that formed to become one nation (just like the xhosa are hlubi, phondo, etc and the basotho are bakoena, bafokeng, etc). The first place where all venda groups lived/settled together as one was called dzata1 and then later it was dzata2 - do your research my brother. when the differnt bantu groups migrated south, they ddnt travel together and did not come from 1 place and did not arrive at the same time. the group you speak of are the singos who lived with kalanga and lozwi people for a time - it was not all groups. Tshivenda language is tshingona my brother. that language already existed before all the groups arived at dzata1. i repeat - vhangona are NGWANIWAPO(everybody found them at vhembe). they did not migrate from anywhere. they are tge ones who accomodated all this groups tgat becase tge venda nation. i am venda and i cannot speak or understand Shona. they just dont sound the same to me. some words yeah but i cannot pick up a sentence or start a conversation and i have many shoba friends. dialects sound the same brother - like ndebele, xhosa, zulu and swati sound the same. or like tswana, sotho or pedi sound the same. a language called khilobedu sounds more like tshivenda than the shoba language - we understand it better. venda history is deep and long my friend ... you will have to do your research with that language brother man its not as easy as you think. Shiriyadenga was one of the known kings of mapungubwe - you get that surname in the tshivenda language. the current vhavenda king Toni mphephu Ramabulana is of Singo bloodline too. all groups have their own history. let me stop hear before my ancestors awaken in me. when my grandmother and her grandmother before her spoke at ritual dances(malombo in tshivenda) they spoke in tshikalanga and not in tshivenda because they are of masingo heritage - proving to you that tshivenda is tshingona and was created due the many groups that mingled together at dzata1 and formed one culture/one nation - the vhavenda nation.

@@amunitionmanyaga299 My friend I can see you are just supporting your language group and tribe, all Venda groups of people came from Zimbabwe , right now the area Venda people are living is part of the Munhumutapa state of Zimbabwe, you people are not at all South Africans.Mapungubwe was first established as trading post and Venda Kings were assigned by Munhumutapa to preserve it.Venda people were ceding tribute to Mutapa, the same thing the Tshangane, kalanga, ndau were doing, other satellite posts are in eastern Botswana, Bulawayo , Southern Zambia and Manyikeni in Mozambique.Bantu people may have migrated in different groups at different times but the Venda people are a minority group that were controlled and governed by Great Zimbabwe.

let me respect your argument my friend. you have no depth in this. you know what you are saying but you DO NOT KNOW what you are saying atall. do your research next time... The vhembe river(aka limpopo river) has always served as the borderline between people of the other side and vise-versa. once mzilikazi crossed it, he was no longer a part of the other side. The day you inderstand what that river means to this countries, is the day you will learn something about their histories. 1. how can mapungubwe be a satelite post when it was there hundreds of years before great zimbabwe and monomutapa??? 2. how can all venda groups be from zim??? how??? when there is black jews or Israelis in the venda groups(aka vhashavhi) who come from yemen??? i rest my case with you. you have no research about the ppl you speak of but we are all one... one love my brother👐 and peace be upon you🙏

This place could very well be ancient Jerusalem...Jeremiah chapter 9 verse 11. I will make Jerusalem into a heap of ruins says the Lord. It will a place haunted by Jackals. The Towns of Judah will be a ghost town with no one living in them
