France suffered from 1.4million military losses in WWI, not taking into account the spanish flu which killed quite a lot of persons as well right as the war was ending. Soviet Union is not even a comparison, look at the size of the country and the government in place... Kind of need times to gather men, plus France did invade Germany first but it was high risk zero reward. And those damn Belgians wouldn't allow French and British to move their troops there. So it's a misconception and France did invade Germany at that point but they lost like 2000 mens and killed something like 500 Germans

There also was an anti war movement in France but we still decided to do what was needed in order to avoid a butchery

It was Leopold III and he had no full power or responsibility in that matter. His government was mostly anti-war. They didn't even want to buy tanks because it was seemed as an "offensive" weapon.
