I can’t believe I’m on the thumbnail!! Im pretty sure the bridge was 90°, but something was funky with the fiddle after practicing outdoors that morning. I had to adjust the bridge a few times and when I plucked the e string snapped 🤯 their theory is probably right though or maybe violins aren’t capable of handling 41 hours of practice

Animals do like music. I have two 5 month old kittens; Sibelius (Sibby) and Haydn (Heidi) who actually really chill to classical music. Especially Tchaikovsky and Bach. Heidi will stay in the room and listen to me practice my piano, but Sibby (probably to her credit) gives me a "look" before she saunters down the hall into the bedroom. It's like "I'll come out and listen when you know what you're doing."

The guy whose 2 set bubble tea Brett put in his story: I have been blessed.
On the animals topic, it depends on the species and the individual. I have two dogs who are weirdly smart in a few ways and I know for a fact that both recognize certain melodies (independently of the version being played or sung, and independently of whether I use the words or just the tune; I unintentionally taught my pups to recognize the chorus from "Suppertime" from the Charlie Brown musical as a meal cue lol, now I can't even unthinkingly hum it or play any recording of it or even have someone *else* sing or hum it without my girls snapping to attention and insisting on a treat -- as long as it's in the same key they're used to, interestingly). Also, more interestingly (IMO), my youngest really likes being drummed on (probably partly because I raised her with lots of pats to good rhythms and songs), and if I pat-drum a rhythm sequence on her three or four times, and keep it the same each time for those first few reps, but then drum it again and stop partway through, she gets offended and thwacks me with her paw about having failed to finish it lol. She doesn't do that if I stop between complete repeats, just kinda sighs at me and noses me for more pets, but she gets truly HEY WTF if I stop partway after she gets used to a certain pattern lol. (Border collie mixes are incredibly impressionable and into consistency/routine.) Dogs and cats in particular have had a lot of generations being exposed to human creativity so it makes sense they'd pick up some basic sense of music appreciation. :) I used to work for a veterinarian and she had some similar anecdotes and said there's no neuroscience reason this wouldn't be possible, for what that's worth!
About animals liking music: check out Snowball the cockatoo. Snowball started dancing to a Backstreet Boys song, a video went viral in 2008, and some psychologists saw it and did some experiments on him. They started randomly changing the tempo of Snowball’s favorite song to see if he would change his movements based on the change in tempo and HE DID. Birds understand rhythm!
Only Twoset would think of measuring a strad in bubble teas

About animals liking music, actually my dog loves every music that was written between 1800 and 1950, and he gets very excited everytime he hears jazz! Also, when we adopted him he only liked that music, but now I can tell he also enjoys Bach and Händel, he gets bored when we listen to Mozart though.
"Keep it 90 degrees at least" -LL Quote of the day Its magnificent.
6:50 In regards to if animals enjoy music: When there were jazz / classical music concerts in my grandparents village square, I often times saw birds fly there to the trees and start chirping, seemingly along with the music. Not sure if they enjoyed the music (rhythm, emotion, etc) or if they just thought the sounds the instruments made were cool, but they can definitively react not-negatively to it. EDIT: Also, iirc milk-cows produce more milk when being played classical music.
No one in the comments speculating what their upcoming video is where they have to pay some difficult pieces... I’m guessing from this video and the Menuhin competition video that the boys are going to be auditioning for some ~sacrilegious~ talent show!
It has happened to me twice once in orchestra and once on a violin at a luthiers. Both times it was problems with the thing attaching the bridge to the endpin. (Stringholdergut we call it in Swedish but guess you dont do that in English)
a moment of appreciation for the effort editor-san put in at 8:23
0:09 and i’m already terrified
Yes, animals like music. I have a cat who always demands to be in the room while I play the piano. ♥️
When twoset talks about whether animal love music, I just have flashbacks of my cat running away everytime I get my violin out... *Sad violin out of tune noise*
1:50 Bret said, a luthier once told me to keep it [the bridge] 90 degrees...at least. I love the "at least". LOL.
Haha, the first ten seconds I was thinking, "are they drunk?!" Lololol
Interesting fact: a study found that octopi apparently dream. They change colors while sleeping, and there was brain activity during their sleep.
