You can see the watermelons are pre-cut (especially at the 0:36 mark) by the zookeeper, which makes the job much easier for the hippo, but still impressive nonetheless.

Yup, you're fully right! All you need to do is look very closely at 0:35 when the guy throws in the melon it is clearly pre-sliced so that all the hippo needs to do is close their mouths and the melon falls apart in their mouth without barely any pressure needed ;)

you shouldn't be appreciating the worker being gentle with the melon, you should appreciate the HIPPO being gentle with the worker, cause that's really what's happening, hippos are very powerful animals, so you could probably smack one with a melon and they wouldn't even feel it and just get annoyed

J. Carson Hippos are quite territorial so they are omnivores. Even alligators do not wish to have a fight with a hippo nor a tiger.

@@supernovaremnantsIt's hard to see them in the water and people will walk up on them or unknowingly stop their boat on top of one. There generally pissed off and extremely aggressive all the time and at 4,000 lbs they will clear out an entire water hole when they come through.

2000 pound bite force? No thank you. The only animal that has a stronger bite force than the hippo is the crocodile. Surprisingly the saltwater croc bite is weaker than the Nile croc.

This is why I don't wanna mess with these things. When they can crush a watermelon like a grape
