HIP HOP FAN'S FIRST TIME HEARING 'Metallica - ...And Justice For All' | GENUINE REACTION

Ойын-сауық

This video has been well overdue. I have heard a lot of people say that because of the production on And Justice For All, they don't like it. I think looking past the production and really hearing the level of skill and talent that was put into it, you can really see how this album is just as good as their first 3.
Here is my reaction to hearing Metallica - ...And Justice For All for the first time. I hope you enjoy it!

This is personally my favorite Metallica album. IDGAF what others say, I was 16 when this came out and it blew my mind...it's definitely their angriest album. First album after Cliff died, James's anger is showing through, Lars tries to show how good of a drummer he can be because his father criticized his playing on earlier albums, this is just Metallica at their best. Nothing after this compares to the aggression and complexity.

I've been watching your reaction videos for the last week or so. I'm a 57 yo guy from Arkansas who has been a heavy metal fan since the 70's and I really appreciate the fact that a young man like you is checking out some, in my personal opinion, really awesome music. I applaud your choice of journeying into the metal genre and I am certain that you are now a fan of this music that I have loved since it was created. I remember when all of these albums first appeared back when I was in my early 20's. Thrash metal really started with Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth, and others. I'm glad you are able to experience this music and see how technical and intricate it is. Greetings from Royal AR. 👍🇺🇸

The whole album is deep, technical, hard, tight and intense. The songs are longer and progressive. Yes, the production is different (you'll read the story) but there are many treasures in this record. Hetfields riffs are incredible throughout. Hope you listen to 'One' at some point. Also, I think the lyrics are Hetfields best. Enjoy 🤘 (And this album is MUCH heavier than anything they had done up until this point. They did it very deliberately) There is also a version with proper bass recorded - ...And Justice for Jason - enjoy... 👇 kzread.info/dash/bejne/oYubp8eNoc2-faw.htmlsi=Da4X8ZopgbZgjNuH

I feel alot of people are "purist". AJFA isn't kill em all. Some folks didn't like that. I dug Metallica up to the Black album. They lost me after that. A few ditties here and there. I hate to say it, no longer my genre. I dont know what they are considered now. They're so big now they could write poop on a cardboard box and people would love it. IMHO. Not hating, not even upset. They gave me wonderfull teenage years. Anything after the black album just isn't for me. Much love from Texas.💚

@@BigBbadx4 Well said. I think every song of theirs before the black album defined thrash metal. I can count on one hand how many after AJFA are even close to this caliber, but I only heard what others played because I never bought another album of theirs after black. I didn't hear the story about James and Lars mixing Jason's bass way down until many years later but that's probably why this album hit me so differently from their previous ones.

As soon as I saw this pop up, I was like, “Man, he’s gonna dig this one!” The dynamics of the soft and heavy sections of the intro…then when it sets in with that sick groove of a riff. As someone that was around from the beginning of Metallica I have to say this is my favorite album of theirs.. the weird production actually gave it a very unique sound. The guitar tones are perfect, and the riffs are heavy AF. Anyone saying this isn't a heavy album is insane! I know Lars gets stick but I love his drumming on this album. This mix really added some depth to the bass drums.. enjoyed that. I am going to have to check out a few alternative mixes of this album.

But really I’ve heard it with bass and it detracts from the tight thick sound they were going for, and really the production is perfect for the songs. They’re complex and aggressive. The thing that is really unfortunate about AJFA is that this stuff was when Metallica started dabbling more with classical arrangement and prog rock ideas which was absolutely 10000000% Cliff's wheelhouse. This album is a certified classic. Had Cliff been on this one, it would have been considered by many to be the greatest metal album of all time. @@haxan6663 Actually Load is my favorite Metallica album. And I have a specific reason for that is: I can't listen 2 or 3 songs in a row that are in the same album. For example, And Justice For All song is nearly 10 minutes. If I play 1 more song from AJFA it will be 15 minutes of same kind of guitar tones, same kind of vocals and same kind of riffs. I don't like it, I don't want it. For the most part I just listen songs mixed from different albums. One from Master, one from Ride, one from justice, one from KEA, one from the Black. After 2 songs in a row that are in the same album is just unlistenable to me. Except for Load. I can listen the album Load in one shot. Probably its because the sound quality in Load is the best and for my taste. Before Load, vocals are just too low in the songs. One other thing is that before Load, the most important thing is the guitars not vocals. Guitars and riff are there and also there are some vocals too. But there is even instrumentals. So vocals are actually not the point. In Load guitars come to boost the vocals. James' actually singing well and beautiful. I like it better. I like ReLoad too but not as Load. In ReLoad things that I love in Load is there again but songs, I don't find them that much interesting and beautiful. I like the the thing that St. Anger is doing but I just hated the way it sounds. I like only 3 songs from St. Anger.

This album doesn't have any bad tracks. But it does have one BIG problem. The problem is the bass or the non existent bass. Blame Lars & James for this problem

I would say, the absence of low frequencies on the bass, because the bass is actually audible, but all the low frequencies are on the guitars.

I would listen to this on my Sony Walkman before going to sleep many nights in 1989/90. Still listening to it today. I hope these songs last forever. I sometimes fantasize about what it would be like to find this album or metal in general, really but especially an album like AJFA 100, 400, 1000, 4000 years from now. I would put on a hazmat suit and brave fallout if I knew where to find this album.

AJFA is their best album imho A lot of people give Lars a whole lot of crap about his drumming , but his work on this entire album is his best performance of all their collection. Killer guitar riffs , and James still had that angry aggressive sound in his voice . Lots of timing change ups , just a complete masterpiece . I still remember getting home from the local music store after buying this album and being completely blown away listening to it , called up all my metal head friends and told them to get over to my house to hear this masterpiece . Ahhh to be 17 again full of anger and aggression . What a time to be alive . I still listen to this epic album almost , if not daily

What makes this album so unique sonically is it’s dryness; No reverb (except a bit in vocals) so it sounds tight and right next to you. The dryness makes the album colder, mechanically aggressive, like an angry machine. This is their most progressive record with lots of time signature changes and neo-classical influences. It’s heady, with lots of math. The lyrics and theme, just like previous albums, are intelligently beautiful and critical of society and the human condition. This record cemented Hetfield as one of the greatest metal singers and lyricists, as well as rhythm guitarists and master of riff writing. The album is drum forward, with famously clicky bass drums. Lots of extra-clicky bass drums became common in metal after this record. So intimate is the drum sound that It feels like you’re sitting at the drum kit. Then of course there is the infamous low-in-the-mix bass guitar that will be critiqued forever. With Jason Newstead on bass, this is the first record without Cliff Burton, RIP (though he has some songwriting credits on it). But the signature sound of this record gives it a strong, surgically-sharp identity. Some consider this the band’s last great record, or at least its last Thrash record, with much of what came after (Sandman forging that new path) being more hard rock than metal. Maybe still metal, but no longer what is defined as extreme-metal, which thrash falls under as it’s the first tier of extreme-metal. In ‘89 after the release of Justice the Grammy’s created a hard rock/metal category and the band was nominated, infamously losing to Jethro Tull. That night, Metallica were the first metal band to ever perform at the Grammy’s playing a shortened version of One.
