A not-for-profit social enterprise based in the remote villages of Uttarakhand, to create alternative livelihoods for women to become financially independent and augment their household income through knitting, crochet and tailoring.
Natural dyeing workshop was the green pilot intervention implemented by AIACA with support of ‪@Misereor‬ Through natural dyeing initiative the aim was to equip the group with an Eco-friendlier range of products to help make their product value chain more Eco-conscious.
Under this hands-on workshop the artisans worked with the trainer to create a naturally dyed range of shades in both cotton and wool which they can further use to create new range of products. The artisans were also trained in techniques of Shibori and indigo.
Nestled in the mountainous region of Uttarakhand, water shortage is a major problem that the group faces especially in the winter months. As natural dyeing process take a huge amount of water, rain water harvesting unit has been set up to lessen the dependency on ground water and streams.
