The media Was so fucking tone deaf on who Kessel really was in TO. They actually said he was DROLL and HUMOURLESS. That just goes to show you how clueless and uncool for lack of a better adjective some people can be. Kess has a great sense of humour and in fact is probably one of the funniest people in the game. Those hacks just didn’t get his dryness and weren’t catching the play he thought most of them were dorks. LOVE KESSEL

@@rushgameing3085 Yeh maybe. I know he likes his nose clams. Re the split squatting: watching Arnie and Ed Corney die doing conventional back squats with 315lbs in Pumping Iron makes me think that ol' Gary Roberts is full of shit. Those guys were roided the fuck up. You just wouldnt do a 1RM split squat.

Phil the Grill is the most surprisingly athletic person I think I’ve ever seen. Dude just slams junk food and looks like a 45 year old bus driver, yet is an extremely talented scorer, a graceful skater and hasn’t missed a game in over a decade. I have no fucking clue how he does it, but I love the guy. Absolute legend.

He's the Shaq of the NHL. Lazy, bad habits and work ethic but hilarious and just stupid talented. He literally might have one of the best top 5 wristshots in NHL history. Watching Phil Kessel take a wrist shot is like watching Jordan dunk or Randy Johnson pitch. When I was living in Malton, ON near Pearson Airport, I went to the Mr. Sub at Goreway and Derry all the time. One day, in walked Nazem Kadri, Colton Orr, Tyler Bozak and Phil Kessel! (Life long Leafs fan, almost choked on my sandwich lol). Anyway they all order their subs, and I'll never forget what Phil ordered: foot long pizza sub with mushrooms and jalapenos. I had to try so hard not to laugh because there's a Pizza Nova next door, and I imagined Phil trying so hard to convince the boys to get pizza and they were like "Jesus Christ Phil we're pro athletes, we're not eating pizza!" So Phil said fine fuck you guys and got a pizza sub instead 🤣

The stories about he drinks and eats resonate. Having played hockey from 6 yr old through college, then in adult leagues, and sweated off so many pounds, I think how can you play at an elite level 9 months of the year and be that chunky? Apparently, cheese and frappachinos. Who knew? The first story about the light in the window? That must be well known, because in the now famous 2011 playoffs in Boston, a radio station went down at 6 a.m. with a speaker pointed up at his window and hassled him mercilessly to wake-up. All the same, he's a legend and a goofball, even a legendary goofball.

Toronto media ran the guy out of town... the narrative started BEFORE training camp and just kept building. You'll never win a cup with Phil Kessel... LOVED how he stuck it to them playing in Pittsburgh. That said, you can see how the same stubborn streak that makes him great has got him playing in Arizona with zero chance to win and zero fcuks given

@@x2xtreme360 i get it. Thats good for a back squat. For a hockey player. But to split squat with that is insane. Idk how this is possible but i can squat that but when i attempt to split i shake with 30 lb dbs in each hand. Need stupid balance and strength to do 330.

@@AnDy-qv2ks I'm about Phil's size. 5'10 205lbs with visible abs. A self proclaimed bodybuilder with 10 years experience. I ass to grass squat sub 400lbs with great form. I can split squat 175lbs but 330 for a guy his size is just a tad unbelievable.

I suspect 100% of these stories are massive over exagerations. People, please dont be so gullible. They're just telling a good story, it doesn't mean it's actually accurate and I'm pretty sure most of you realize that, but don't wanna say it out loud because it's not as memey to do so.
