His reasoning was sound, when you think about it. There was a stigma surrounding white players: slow, unatheletic, can't jump, ect. Bird had those stereotypes too, yet he was cooking every great black ball player out there. Yet teams would put a goofy white player on him? It was an insult!

I have a Larry Bird story ! My son and I were at a Pacers/Bulls playoff game about 5 rows behind the bench in Indy, and Larry was the coach. The Pacers weren't doing very well, and Larry had his elbows on his knees and was shaking his head. So I shouted, " HEY, LARRY, SUIT UP AND SHOW THEM HOW IT'S DONE," he did a side glace and smiled...made my day. !!! They also beat the Bulls that day too !!!!

@MRCANTGETANAME Excuse me for misspelling a word. That happens all over social media. However both lose (my intended word) and/or lost would be perfectly acceptable in that sentence in its context. Check you rules of English grammer. They did lose 3 in a row at the time which becomes lost 3 in a row if you use past tense

@MRCANTGETANAME And I'm sorry to hear you can't figure out how to get a name. Maybe you should try hiring a lawyer to see how to accomplish this obvious long desired goal. You're like the song by America "A Horse With No Name. Just you and that poor nag.

@@tomlawrence7751Yeah he's full of himself. Whenever you have to say you are the greatest, not only does it make you look foolish, but it shows a sign of not being very confident in yourself. I think he's way overrated myself. Great ball player yes, but just way in over his head. Michael Jordan is much better in my opinion.

Bird #1. Period. End of discussion. Here's why: *Bird 3-0 in playoffs vs Jordan, only player to do so *Bird only one of 3 players, and last to do so, to win League most Valuable Player 3 consecutive years *Bird has record for largest one season turnaround in sports history, taking a 20+ win Celtics team to a 61 win season his rookie year; what makes that so special is that the only difference between the 2 Celtics teams was addition of Bird that led to 61 wins
