The negative commenters are mostly Monday morning quarterbacks, I would surmise.
I'd actually find a hostel hop thru-hike rather interesting. It could open up a world of hiking opportunities for people who aren't necessarily comfortable sleeping in the woods every night. We're here to see the hiking, views, and your adventure. That may be sleeping in a tent, hostel, hotel, or shelter. Hike on and enjoy your journey!

“The world has enough beautiful mountains and meadows, spectacular skies and serene lakes. It has enough lush forests, flowered fields, and sandy beaches. It has plenty of stars and the promise of a new sunrise and sunset every day. What the world needs more of is people to appreciate and enjoy it.” Amazing comment Westerly 🙏 Thank you for your positivity. Be well

I don't know. Hiking may not be for you if you can't cope with being outdoors and can't deal with adversity.
Girl, this is YOUR adventure. You get to do whatever you’re comfortable with. I guarantee you 90% of the people bugged out by you staying at a hostel every night haven’t done half of the amazing things you’ve done. Just do what makes you happy and enjoy it! If that means spending every night at a hostel the first few weeks, so be it!
It’s supposed to be fun and challenging. You weigh your comfort and challenge and do what feels right for you! I’ll keep watching you - hostels or not!
Hike your hike and don't worry what anyone thinks. If I could afford to stay at a hostel every night during the first few hundred miles to avoid the bad weather I would definitely go for it! You would also be giving us reports on hostels along the way for those of us who would like to stay at them in the future. Seen you hike and stay in a tent, it would be a different perspective this time😊 Reading thru comments, I think you'll be encouraged we want you to hike YOUR hike, and many of us want to see hostels.
Do what you want to do! It’s your hike! Personally, I love seeing the different hostels!

I really enjoy seeing the hostels, if that helps. It's really cool to see these little pockets of community and the different accomodations along the way.
Oh man I completely understand the frustration of sharing a sleeping space with a snorer 😭 it always frustrates me to the point of tears too! Also - do what feels good for you in terms of sleeping in hostels as opposed to camping! Hike Your Own Hike and all that ;) thanks for sharing your struggle and sorry that some people comment on YOUR hike so much
The goal is to hike the AT, not sleep in a tent as much as possible. While some may be more on a budget and couldn’t afford a hostel every night they could, if you want to stay in a hostel, go for it! Whatever helps you make the goal of the hike a success is something you should do without worrying what anyone thinks! Love the videos!
I'll repeat what others have said, this is your hike, you do you girl!! The rest of us sitting at home have no right to judge your hike, wishing you the best.
Hike you own hike! Enjoy the 2000+ miles with no regrets!
Advice from an old woman. This is your special life experience. Do it your way. Many years from now you will look back with fonder memories. It will not be other peoples’ life experiences and memories.

Exactly, we are all sitting in a comfortable chair at home watching Taylor's big adventure. Memories are the most precious things we have in old age.
I don’t think anyone has any business telling someone who has already hiked this thing one time how to hike their hike. I got my 61 year old ass kicked by hiking 8 miles yesterday. You’re living my dream - the second time.
Taylor, you do you. This is your experience. You’ve already completed the AT once….. so this years experience is yours to make for yourself. No one else should take up any room in you head. By watching you stay at hostels makes me think I could possibly do this. 🌿
Taylor, you are amazing! You should stay at all the hostels if it means you will get better sleep and enjoy your hike. This isn’t about being as miserable as you can possibly be, it’s about you hiking the AT which is INCREDIBLE and your supporters love watching your adventure because it’s YOUR adventure. You rock!!! ❤
It’s so easy to judge from the comfort of an easy chair, isn’t it? Just do what feels right for you... it’s your hike, we’re just along for the ride. Huge respect! Be safe!
On the contrary. I am watching another YTer who is pretty much hostel and sheltering, hasn't even opened her tent once yet and she's in VA now. I actually find it facinating since you would think a hiker would be in a tent normally. YOU DO YOU! It's important for your health that you are happy where you end your day. We are just happy your taking us on the journey with you :)
Taylor - never forget the "hike your own hike" mantra. You're doing great - keep it up. I know my comment is on an older video but we're just catching up with you now. :)
Ive watched a lot of hiking videos and Ive read a lot of comments. Ive noticed there are way too many “hiker snobs” who think they’re experts because they’ve spent a million dollars on gear and hiked 20 miles on a state park trail. You’ve earned the right to hike your hike as you see fit. Im sure you plan on doing that. Don’t let these keyboard warriors get in your head. They should be hiking instead of criticizing someone for staying in a hostel. Thanks for sharing your journey.
You do what you want to do. This is your hike. Don't listen to any negative comments. So excited for you. I'm living vicariously through you.
Like I always here said: "Hike your hike". Nothing wrong with staying at a Hostel. Living for other people will only lead to stress and anguish. Love the videos!
Aww, you looked so tired. You said it best at 4:10. Do it for yourself. I'd hostel up every chance I got just for the experience and the people. Rest well Taylor ✌️
Do what's comfortable to you. most of us watching are sitting in cozy recliners with a hot mug of coffee, experiencing the hike through you and others, so who are we to judge. 😂 I like seeing all of the experience, the little diners. Resupply stores and interacting with others and hostels, or hotels. I have hiked a lot in areas. and in the Smokies, but I have never spent a night in a tent in the woods. So my opinion is just to have a good time. Most of us will support you either way.

I will add that I do try to watch hiking videos while walking on a treadmill sometimes so I can feel like I am sort of hiking the trail. 👣 🚶♀️
It’s your hike as everyone says. Everyone needs to do what is right for them. Simply my admiration of AT Hikers lies with those of bygone years before technology, comparatively state of the art gear and all the comforts of home along the way. As much as those like you put into it, and is fun to watch, it doesn’t compare to the resilience, challenges and struggles, emotional and physical, of those way back when.
Well you know the saying, "hike your own hike". You've done this before, change it up and do it how you want. I personally love seeing the different hostels and I think you've always done a great job of showcasing them. You're doing this for yourself, not people sitting behind a screen. Stay safe - happy trails!
YOU DO WHAT YOU WANT TO DO!!! It won't deter me from watching you!!
If you think you know better than Taylor how she should hike her own damn hike, please do not comment. The majority of us are gracious, kind people who are just here for the ride - whatever that looks like. Please refrain from judgments and let her live her life. Do whatever the hell you want, Taylor! We support you! ❤💪🏻
Goodness - do what YOU want to do!!! This is your journey, you allow us to follow.
Good Morning! I am here to watch your adventures and the views. I don’t care where you sleep 😊.
Hey Taylor! Congrats on 50 miles!! Snoring is a tough one, I know people say always bring earplugs but they don’t work for me. I hope you don’t encounter it again any time soon. You stay at as many hostels as you want! A hostel is just another shelter option IMHO. It’s no different than a shelter, hut, tent platform or muddy, slanted, rooty clearing! It’s a place to rest your body and mind. People really will complain about anything, I sincerely hope they don’t sway you from making the sleeping arrangements you want to make! HYOH! Huge thanks to Around the Bend for that amazing gear shop! Such a great spot! 🙏 Thanks for bringing us along today. I hope tomorrow’s miles are kind. Keep truckin’ and be well. -Grateful
Do whatever you want. Life is good. Hike your own hike is the quote to remember,
You are entitled to hike your own hike! Do what YOU want to do at night! We love watching you hike!!❤You are amazing! Nothing wrong with you sleeping in hostels!
Taylor, first off, do whatever you want to do… it’s YOUR hike, not ours. That said, I actually find it a little more interesting to see the hostels, because the hostels are a huge part of the AT culture, and they all have their own personalities, so, it’s cool to see them. I’ve been with you in spirit since 2020, so, you do whatever you want and I’m happy to follow along, and, I’m sure most people who watch you feel the same way!
At the end of the day it’s YOUR hike so no need to satisfy anyone else’s feelings. There will always be naysayers- you can’t please everyone but please yourself! We’re all here supporting you 👍🏻 Enjoy YOUR hike!! 🤗
I tend to gravitate to the PCT videos. Yours is the first AT video I've really found interesting. I really enjoy your detailed explanations and insights. Seeing the hostels gives us some insight into how the AT is different from other national scenic trails. This "hostel culture" basically doesn't exist on the PCT. I'm sure over the entire length of the trail you will be showing us all kinds of options and variations. Great videos! Looking forward to more!
Absolutely! You do you! Stay in hostels/5 star hotels/or camp. You are doing it while we watch from our couch! Love your videos and love seeing the hostels!
Do this for you, each person does their own trail. BTW, a pair of foam ear plugs can be a lifesaver while staying at a hostel. 🤙

I sleep well when I wear foam ear plugs but it is difficult to hear any alarm clocks
Oh my goodness! Please do what makes you happy! I would not enjoy trying to sleep in a damp cold tent if I had a chance to be warm and dry!! Stay warm, dry and healthy 💗 ENJOY YOUR FABULOUS ADVENTURE YOUR WAY🥰💗
Girl, stay in all the hostels you want! I love seeing them and you shouldn’t have to struggle through wet gear for your entire hike.
Anyone who watched your first through hike should know that you love hostels. It seems like a huge part of the AT, for you, is the community and comradery you get from staying at hostels. Don't give that up for some random commenter. As I'm typing I just remembered all the negative comments about your diet last time too and I wondered if you weren't going to show that too because of people's dumb comments. I'm sure the overwhelming majority of your subscribers watch for the same reason I do. Your kind nature. Your genuineness. The beauty you're sharing with us.
Taylor, hike your hike. You are the one walking 2000 miles. If someone wants to sleep in a tent, they are welcome to do that. I'll tune in regardless of where you sleep.
The comments are really great and I agree....just do what makes you happy. Me and my Fiancée love watching your journeys!!
Hike your own hike! I totally understand feeling responsible to the folks watching but ultimately it’s your journey to complete in the way that’s best for you! Best of luck :)
Hike your own hike. All the different ways KZreadrs through hike lets us know all the possibilities. Haters are going to hate. If they don't like the way you hike they can get off the couch and blaze their own trail.
Taylor, you are AMAZING! You’re doing the miles, you get to make the decisions. Stay strong, and hike your own hike. I know you’ve heard that hundreds of times, but it’s excellent advice.
Just found your channel and catching up on your thur-hike videos. And when it comes to camping for the people watching, Hike Your Own Hike. Keep going:)
Hi Taylor! Hike on at your pace and how you want! I watch because you seem genuine and positive! Don’t read many of the comments but as I have mentioned before I believe the following statement about excuses to be so true- your friends don’t need them and your enemies don’t care! Looking forward to Va again!
Do your own thing. Bad sleep will make your hike a nightmare and possibly lead to you bailing. [Ear plugs and the falling rain app on my phone. Defeats most snoring, though not all!]
Two things, love the smile that is always on your face, makes me think you are truly taking in the adventure. In regards to hostels, my favorite section of the AT, so far, was NH hopping from Hut to Hut. It was $$ but I really loved the "community." enjoying your channel.
do your own hike. Stay at the hostiles if that is what you like. show eavh hostile. It is fun to see each hostile and what they offer. I felt so bad when you said you couldn't sleep due to the snoring. 🌻🌻
The biggest thing I have learned from watching all the videos is HIKE YOUR OWN HIKE! 😁 I'm interested in the hostels, seeing what that's like 😉
It's your hike--I agree with you. I'm going to be 67 years old when I try a thru hike on the AT--I plan on using hostels for 1/2 of my evenings especially if the weather is bad. Love your videos.
HYOH girl. And don’t let anyone else’s expectations become your standard.

Yes! Do what YOU want to do! I have just started to hike later in my life (M55) Max 3 miles / day with fullpack weight and around 10 miles max on loop trails with day pack. I have quickly adopted the viewpoint HIKE YOUR OWN HIKE. I have just started thinking about a longer through hike in the next year or 2 and knowing that Hostels and BNBs are available is promising.
Girl!! Its “Hike Your Own Hike” for a reason. I have done a few sections and when I get to the time when I can do a Thru Hike- I wont have any problem staying at hostels and or slack packing! I don’t care what anyone says! You are doing great. When out in the wilderness take care of yourself- and if that means a long day, a short day or a zero, that is what you need that day. Every day is going to be different depending on the circumstances.PS I would love to see the hostels!
Hike your own hike! I am enjoying your journey so far and do what you want to do. It is fun to join in with your experience whatever that may be.
It's your hike. Do what works for you.
Hi Taylor. Once again, I am invested and captivated by your adventure on the AT again. Your videos are the closest I will ever be hiking this trail. Please do your hike to your standards and nobody else. People can be quick to critique as they are wrapped snuggly in their bed with all the comforts of being home. You do this hike for you exactly the way that works for you and leave this unnecessary struggle behind you in your tracks. There is a new slogan for your gift shop!!!! Praying for your health and safety always.
Hike your own hike. Learning about different hostels are just as important as tenting.
Absolutely do what works for you!
Ear plugs are my favorite hiking gear. Sorry and hope you got some great sleep the next night.
Always do what you want to do!!! Its your life!!!❤️

One of the most important pieces of "gear" that those in the military packed was ear plugs. You never knew who your bunk-mate would be and if they were a snore-er or not.

You do you, Taylor. Ignore the trolls. When it comes down to it, that's what they are. Trolls.
To echo the other people. You do what you want to do. The thu-hike is about the hike, not about where you sleep. What difference does it make to people if you sleep in a bed or a tent? You're still hiking the same distance. How odd that some people just want to pick holes in ANYTHING anyone else does. They're probably just jealous that they're working and you're having fun. Keep at it, girl! Love from England! xxxx
Amazing the gen z hikers...not! I won't be surprised if Hamptons Inn starts putting hotels on the AT
