I'd actually find a hostel hop thru-hike rather interesting. It could open up a world of hiking opportunities for people who aren't necessarily comfortable sleeping in the woods every night. We're here to see the hiking, views, and your adventure. That may be sleeping in a tent, hostel, hotel, or shelter. Hike on and enjoy your journey!

You would also be giving us reports on hostels along the way for those of us who would like to stay at them in the future. Seen you hike and stay in a tent, it would be a different perspective this time😊 Reading thru comments, I think you'll be encouraged we want you to hike YOUR hike, and many of us want to see hostels.

Ive noticed there are way too many “hiker snobs” who think they’re experts because they’ve spent a million dollars on gear and hiked 20 miles on a state park trail. You’ve earned the right to hike your hike as you see fit. Im sure you plan on doing that. Don’t let these keyboard warriors get in your head. They should be hiking instead of criticizing someone for staying in a hostel. Thanks for sharing your journey.

Resupply stores and interacting with others and hostels, or hotels. I have hiked a lot in areas. and in the Smokies, but I have never spent a night in a tent in the woods. So my opinion is just to have a good time. Most of us will support you either way.

It’s your hike as everyone says. Everyone needs to do what is right for them. Simply my admiration of AT Hikers lies with those of bygone years before technology, comparatively state of the art gear and all the comforts of home along the way. As much as those like you put into it, and is fun to watch, it doesn’t compare to the resilience, challenges and struggles, emotional and physical, of those way back when.

You do what you need to do. It is your adventure and your health, not anyone else’s. You are just a great person documenting your adventure for us. If any of your followers are “disappointed”, I am sad for them. Do not let the nay sayers pressure you into bad decisions. Hike on!

One of the most important pieces of "gear" that those in the military packed was ear plugs. You never knew who your bunk-mate would be and if they were a snore-er or not.

To echo the other people. You do what you want to do. The thu-hike is about the hike, not about where you sleep. What difference does it make to people if you sleep in a bed or a tent? You're still hiking the same distance. How odd that some people just want to pick holes in ANYTHING anyone else does. They're probably just jealous that they're working and you're having fun. Keep at it, girl! Love from England! xxxx
