Hiking & Climbing 120km in Swedens Arctic: Swedish Lapland in Winter
► About the Hike:
In the beginning of march 24, a good friend of mine and me began our first winter arctic adventure. The plan: Hike 120km from Nikkaluokta to Abisko and climb Kebnekaise on the way. We couldn’t believe our senses in the beginning of our Hike, when we didn’t see any clouds, felt no wind at all and noticed it was pretty warm. Usually this area around Kebnekaise and Abisko is known for its aggressive arctic winds and it’s possible to have -30 degrees celsius and less in march. On the second day we’ve witnessed one of the strongest northern lights in a long time. And that from a spot, where we could see far into Norway above all the other mountains. A hut warden who was working in the area for 40+ years said that he has never seen stronger ones. What a scene. See the rest for yourself, hope you enjoy.

Thanks Henrik, glad you enjoyed it! We were in awe that morning as well..
Excellent video. You were lucky with the weather! Tjäktjapasset in March is the windiest place I’ve experienced.

Hi Phil, your video is just epic. That's easy said, but not easy done. And you did it. I know the way from Nikkaluokta to Abisko in summer and was wondering how it will be in snow. Thank you for letting me see. I appreciate.

Thanks for the kind words! Will you be doing the track in winter too? :)

@@philhamann420 Well, did it twice in summer. So next time in winter is at least considerable. Most likely I will use cross country skis instead snowshoes. Nobody needs to know my nationality on first sight.😄

Freu mich, dass es dir gefallen hat :) klaro!😄
One thing that might be good know is that it is bad etiquette to walk in ski tracks with boots or snow shoes.

We actually talked to some people about it :D but never found someone who really cared. The snow was pretty hard too tho. So maybe a bigger problem in other snowconditions. Usually in that area all the tracks are blown over by wind and there are no traces left behind anyways. But thanks for the reminder :) All the best
