A thoroughly deserved win over Chelsea was the perfect way to round off a successful pre-season tour to the USA.
We looked to take charge of this Florida Cup match from the first whistle, and unsurprisingly it was Gabriel Jesus who put us ahead with his fourth goal of pre-season.
Martin Odegaard and Bukayo Saka ensured we had a scoreline befitting of our performance, adding our second and third either side of the interval.
Playing the third and final game of tour, we looked sharp from the off, creating the first clear chance after just five minutes.
Defending a corner, Gabriel Martinelli nicked the ball on the edge of his own box and sprinted forward on the counter-attack, in a move very reminiscent of his famous goal at Stamford Bridge in January 2020.
This time however he elected to pass to Saka on the overlap, and his shot was saved by Edouard Mendy.
We continued to look the more likely scorers in the opening exchanges. Oleksandr Zinchenko - on his first appearance for us - was getting forward well on the left and had a shot charged down when he found space inside the box.
Shortly afterwards though we did get the goal our pressure merited, and what a finish it was. Granit Xhaka fired a first-time pass into the path of Jesus, who advanced on the keeper and casually dinked the ball over him for the opener.
The second was another well worked goal. Martinelli held onto possession just long enough for Odegaard to make his run into the box, before slipping the ball into his path. The captain did the rest, sliding his shot low into the corner.
It was one-way traffic in the first half. Thomas Partey was the next to go close, shooting just over from 20 yards out.
Odegaard, Saka and Jesus were beginning to enjoy themselves, with some wonderful one-touch passing and flicks - much to the delight of the vocal Arsenal support in the sell-out 63,000 capacity Camping World Stadium in Florida.
Despite our dominance in the opening 45 minutes, Chelsea so nearly pulled one back before the break, but Mason Mount’s effort struck the upright.
We kept up the tempo in the second half, and shortly after the hour mark we made it 3-0.
Martinelli drew a diving stop from Mendy on the volley, it fell to Granit Xhaka who flicked the ball up before firing another shot at the Chelsea keeper. But it was third time lucky as Saka thumped home the rebound into the roof of the net.
Mikel Arteta sent on Marquinhos for his non-competitive debut, on the right wing, as Sambi Lokonga got in the act in the closing stages with a composed header at the far post, helping us to seal a comfortable win.
At the final whistle we were presented with the Florida Cup, ensuring a memorable 10-day trip to America ended on a high.

They’re both great, but having another one of their calibre as a backup for when Xhaka is suspended and Partey is injured would make me much more comfortable

In these whole preseason matches, I am most impressed by Saliba. He feels like a fresh signing and is delivering great performance. Now we need to tie him to a long-term deal, he will surely deliver.

One of the talent that pep has is build excellent team chemistry. He only sign players that have certain personality and a good person, not only just because they are good players. And it seems arteta following that too, thats why he remove guedonzi from the squad even he is talented young player. Oh yeah not forget auba, it seems auba dont have the commitment and passion so arteta dont see him fit for his team and can influence other players negatively.

Let's not hype him too much just yet. I watched a bit of him at Marseille, he can be prone to making mistakes with his passing under the press and his positioning isn't always perfect. The intensity of the EPL is a learning curve. The hype can turn to fans bashing him very quick if he makes a few mistakes. So let's keep perspective on Saliba, great talent, but let's not expect him to be great from day 1

I'm a gooner since 1984. I loved the the George Graham era, loved the wenger era alot more. Those times are gone, money has changed football. But, in recent times I've never been more excited about our club. I applaud the the club for not sacking arteta because the fans wanted it, instead they gave him time, gave him time to lose the deadwood and get the players he wanted in. When you hear the top professionals talk about arteta they all say how gifted he is. John sitting at home with a can of beer isn't. Confidence behind you means more than anything so let's be proper gooners and through thick and thin cheer and chant them. Let's be the fans all the others wish they were.

Arteta should leave arsenal, he simply doesn't have the confidence and the balls to play attacking football when it matters, the only reason we won thus match is because it was a friendly. So the players showed their talent, comes to real matches all our players will play with parking break on because they are too afraid, because their manager is afraid

Lifelong Liverpool fan here. The Arsenal squad seems invigorated and greatly in sync with each other. Arteta may have been through the grinder before but it looks like he's been slowly building a world class side. Also, rooting big time for Martinelli. One of the most exciting young talents in the PL. He's going to be massive for the Gunners.

What I loved about Saliba this game was the way he could smell danger and intercepted and cleaned up. Brilliant.
Love the whole performance, Saliba looking top class, Jesus doin his thing.. Odegaard getting better every time but.... How good is Martinelli?! He is magnificent! Always chasing down, perfect pass, pace, skill.. defenders getting dizzy! 🤪🤪😆🙏🏼❤❤❤
I know it's just a friendly, but it was great to see the boys back out there in red & white, looking good against a very competent PL team. They looked really sharp, quick, well-organized. Martinelli, Saka, Xhaka and everyone else looking really good. Great to see Saliba here alongside Ben & Gabriel. Jesus & Zinchenko already look like they've already been with us for a while, both class signings, Jesus is settling in really well which is fantastic. Captain Martin Odegaard, what can you say about him - Rolls Royce. Overall a fantastic performance (even if only a friendly) & something to build on for the new season. COYG.

We have to give credit to Martinelli . The boy is always always trying. Running after players, running into space, pressing, taking on defenders etc. Honestly, the way he plays at full speed for 90 I am always afraid he might hurt himself. The sad thing, people are not giving him enough credit because he doesn't get enough goals. He is going to be an amazing player for Arsenal and I only hope that the club will see his full potential as a long term player for the club.

He could easily have had 2 goals this game… Saka could have squared it to him or a slight diagonal and Jesus the first goal that he scored he could have also past it to him (he picked up a good position) Overall he played really well and will improve with time. We have a brilliant rotation option in Smith Rowe for that side also. We should be excited.

You mean you haven’t seen that in recent times? Wenger’s teams used to toy with the opposition all the time. I remember once we had a comfortable lead against our opposition, we would pop the ball around doing lots of intricate passing while the crowd shouts “OLAY” after every pass. Those were the days when we would win 5-0 on a regular basis. Especially in the 2007-2013 period when Arsenal failed to win silverware but still played some of most beautiful football in the league. Oh how I miss those days 😔. Hopefully Arteta can bring that type of football back to this great club.

@@rhysagrey Thank you for reminding people that. I tell people all the time that that young team that nearly won the league in 2008 is for me the best Arsenal team ever to watch. We dominated teams with young boys and played some of the most beautiful football ever played on a football pitch. After watching that, it was hard watching Arsenal play the last couple of years. Wenger spoilt us. There's light at the end of the tunnel though with how these boys have played so far in preseason. Hopefully they take this into the new season and don't skip a beat. We're good enough for third place.

In that first breakout / counter-attack (With Martinelli pushing forward and then passing to Saka), the subsequent decision that Saka made, to shoot, was, in my opinion, the wrong one. He should have passed the ball back to Martinelli. This isn't the first time that Saka has made poor choices or chose personal gain. Credit to Martinelli for not expressing frustrations.

Saka is a very good player but he is very selfish he wants to score all goals for himself.arteta should try and talk to him about that.

I'm not sure he selfish or just the perspective limitation. Sometimes he is really too stubborn in front of the goal and didn't see his teammates around him.

I think the pass from Gabi to Saka was a little bit heavy and wide, hence made it hard to pass back because the defender was already waiting for that.
Lokonga turning into Danny Welbeck at the end with the Number 23. Amazing👏🏼

@@Rashied183 funny thing about Xhaka is many didnt watch him or know him in Bundesliga with Borussia Mönchengladbach. He has always been absolute quality. No player like him in my opinion. But these good players need support from other good players to really kick into their potential. Seems like hes getting that now. Arsenal have many world class players at once for the first time in a very long time. This will be an interesting season, Arsenal are looking hungry again

@@xemramedia he was unlucky that the refs don't like him and some of mistakes cost arsenal straight away while others made the same mistakes but the luck of not conceding was on their side

@@xemramedia people like you only show up when Xhaka puts in the good performance, but when he has a 1 or 2 out of 10 performance you're nowhere to be found.

Great performance. It's only pre-season but if we can play like this in the season we could have a really solid season! However we do still need quality depth in LW and RW, as our current backup options make us significantly worse and if we're going to have a good season then we need good players in every position and good depth for them positions. We bottled top 4 last season because we couldn't deal with our injuries to key players which we all knew were going to happen. COYG!

We have smith Rowe, Viera, zinchenko if thierney is fit and playing in a back 4, Marquinhos and if Pepe doesn’t leave, it wouldn’t be a blow as he sometimes pops up with the goods. Hopefully we will not have too many injuries to see us into the top 4 and if that doesn’t happen, Arteta must leave

Far out Arsenal fans are delusional. You beat Chelsea once in Preseason and think the PL trophy is within sight. United achieved the same score line against Liverpool and still think top 4 is out of sight.

Saka needs to do better with chances this season. That break from from Martinelli should have ended nowhere else than in the net. A simple pass back to Nelli would have sufficed. Great lad still!

Odegaard was sublime... If he can continue to develop his potential to score goals, while Saka and Saliba were on point and Jesùs was phenomenal. Overall, Arsenal were great. It's a matter of maintaining this pace all season long.
We need upgrade on Saka
This was a league wining performance, the summer signings all completed the team, very nice to watch!

This was my first in person football match. What a great experience! Saliba was man of the match in my opinion.

Saliba has looked absolutely class during preseason. Honestly, giving him a full season of consistent game time in France was probably the best thing we could've done. Let's get him on a new contract now though! Glad your first match was a great one!

its impressive, that cross from cedrid was what we were missing from him. its nice to see, plus lakonga, who I've seen waste a lot of shots last season, did fantastic with that header though. It seems everyone has stepped up in the squad
