High Uintas Backpacking for grayling with my nieces and nephew.
Спорт
I went on a fall backpacking trip in the High Uintas with a couple nieces and a nephew. The trip was originally planned to have all of my nieces there but two of the families had a stomach bug going on so four of them ended up not going. The two nieces that went had never fly fished before. One had never caught a fish in her life. The lake we went to provided fast action fly fishing for artic grayling. We all caught a lot of fish, had a good time and ate some good food.

What an intro to fly fishing for these kids! I like that spot just to get my own confidence up!

Like we discussed when we were there----it's the perfect spot to learn and get into a lot of fish.
Awesome family adventure, catching grayling and making memories!

We had a good time 👍
Looks like a lot of fun! Grayling are a great species to introduce someone to fly fishing with. Glad you got out with the fam.

It was fun. It would have been even more fun if Bry and the other nieces could have gone.
So awesome! 😀

It was awesome. You never seem to be wrong Nate.
That lake looks Angelic. My favorite lake in the eastern Uintas

It's a good lake for sure.
My buddy and I had a race to 50 fish at that lake one day. We both had our 50th netted within seconds of each other. It’s always pretty good fishing there.

59 fish? Yeah I’ll say it’s pretty good!

It was quite different a couple decades ago. The fishing was slow for big cutts.

@@TroutHowler yeah, the grayling have crowded out the big cuts. Once in a while I’ll catch a little 10-12” cut there. In the 90s when I was a teen I remember pulling out some great cutthroats from that lake
Looks like a very successful adventure. Super cool the nieces caught lots of fish. Awesome for first timers on fishing and hiking. Nice new shirt swag! Looks cool. How do we order?

I got them into some fish which was my goal. We had a good time. I had couple of those shirts made for the heck of it. Maybe I'll have some more made.

@@TroutHowler others would wear them!
I think I’ve seen videos with your nephew in them, hopefully he can find some kind of balance between “being responsible” and still getting out there to fish.
