I have been there when the tides were at their 'normal' level and it is indeed a beautiful and wonderous place to visit. The high tides like this are known though and are very well documented. So if your visit corresponds with an extra high tide, take a pair of light weight thigh length waders with you,or even buy a cheap pair of waders when you get there for about 20-30 Euros.I certainly wouldn't want to be sloshing about in all that very dirty water and would take my own waders that can be rolled up very small and fit neatly in my suitcase.

Just think, in another 50-100 years, this is what will happen to all our coastal towns/cities :(

Aqua alta must be tough on the Venetians. Sure, it's an accepted part of life. For a tourist, it's an inconvenience with things being closed, but for the locals, it's their home or business if they are at a low point in the city.

Wow! Does it go to every street in venice? Also do the houses get damage by the water?

The high tide comes for 3-4 hours during a day in a month in the winter! You can buy boots everywhere (€20-40).

Ciao Juki, Thank you for your kind comment. I realize you didn't study too much because Venice is upon a sea not the ocean and the high tide comes 3 4 times per year. I am sure you was joking! Come to Venice the most beautiful city in the world!

Whether climate change is real, is not debatable. How much of it has to do with us humans, is debatable

No one debated climate change ever, right wingers debated the human element of it. Also venice has been sinking 3cm per century long before teh automobile. You dont just get to build a city on a lagoon and call it quits. Living on coastal areas has benefits and disadvantages as well. I'm more curious to find out when people forgot these things.

if that was the U.S. ppl would be freaking out n they woud be evacuated cause thats so dangerouse cause for one thats ocean water. it's salt water and they call it a sea but it's straight out of the ocean. so u have that nasty and then the sewer n the garbage in general n any roadants that piss n shit outside thats now floating every where. it's terrible for them to have to love like that.

  • @taonsio1
