High Speed Communications Part 1 - The I/O Challenge

Ғылым және технология

Alphawave’s CTO, Tony Chan Carusone, begins his technical talks on high-speed communications discussing the Input and Output (I/O) Challenge as CMOS scales to meet the demand of information processing. As published wireline transceivers follow a trend of a steady increase in data rate driven by process technology scaling, different interconnect implementations, and their impairments, are investigated.

@3m38s wrong statement. The onset of the skin effect REDUCES the inductance - not increases it. As the current density shifts to the conductor surface, the internal inductance component decreases, whereas the external inductance remains unchanged. The overall inductance, which is the sum of the two components, decreases by as much as 40% for typical traces on a PCB.
