How can you say the "Rule of Law" means nothing to the SC? Did you even listen to the hearing or know what it was about? The Law is exactly what they were talking about. You do know that they are discussing only laws and precedents and not the case itself. The case happens later in the District Court.

@@Noreb You are correct, however they were not discussing the case itself, only the laws and precedents (or lack thereof). The Supreme Court is an appeals court, especially this early in the process. It is the District Court under Judge Chutkan and a jury that will decide on the fact of the cases. The intent of Trumps lawyers is delay and any delay would seem as a Trump victory to the general public. However, the last thing the SC want to do is make a ruling/opinion that has unintended nuances and implications, hence all the hypothetical beyond the current case is to help them tailor up or down the final opinions. It is likely that the SC will hear defense motions on this case again if Trump is convicted. If that happens details of the case itself may come into play, but now it is only about law and the reasoning that will be in the final opinions. It is likely the Judges already have made up most of their minds based on all the filings already submitted to the court. The oral arguments are a way for the Justices refine those opinions, discuss points not fully worked out in their minds, get clarifications from both side and lastly to provide insights of opinions to the other judges. - Sorry for the length of the reply.

He violated our Constitution's peaceful transfer of power and was the only POTUS in US history to call for a rally to STOP the electoral confirmation of his opponent. He is currently facing charges for felonies related to other constitutional violations (look up indictments online). DJT is a danger to our Constitution and to our democratic freedoms (Yes, I said "democratic" freedoms because that's what they are.)

Would you want Trump appearing before a judge who had been given a $260,000 luxury motor home by Dem donors? Wouldn't you think such a judge should recuse himself? A simple yes or no answer would be good.

I turned 61 in March. Have lost trust in many professions over my lifetime but I gotta say, never thought I'd see the day I'd lose trust in judges. Always thought that was a position you worked your way into by having unquestionable ethics. And now there are young Americans that are beginning adulthood knowning that not just judges, but SUPREME COURT judges, are capable of the most political and unethical of practicies. This is going to be hard to overcome.

No life time appointments, 10 years is enough! Time for change in the 21st century.

How sad and blatantly obvious that the Supreme Court has brought us back to the days before democracy when we were intrinsically shackled to the laws of a land that was ruled by a king or queen. It is a dark day in our democracy, and no doubt for our forefathers who are rolling in their graves. The questions that spewed from the Supreme Court justices were something a kin to an agent of a communist country or the twilight zone. The only bright spot I see is that my grandparents aren’t here to see this day and that the men and women who died for our freedoms aren’t here to see it either. We have never needed the phrase” God save our country” more than now.

Thomas & Alito are for Trump's absolute immunity not realizing that too would be standard for Biden & then Biden could expand the SC but another 4 to make 13.
