How do you feel about special shots bonuses for a bow build so that way your dragon piercer does way more damage? Or Focus for draw Attack damage which aren't all bow shots draw attack? I'm also wondering if there's a good way to modify this for a blast bow in order to knock off parts.

If youre going to use peak performance swap your armor to vaal hazak armor. The Regen on it has allowed me to run tempered elders without using potions. Trying to get the gem for the gloves so I can go back to the eye patch for crit. But all in all good build. Also using your O or corresponding control for the wide shot instead of the third R2 will increase damage out put way more. ( I believe its 5 or 6 shots thatll crit 40-50 a pop ) this technique out damages any other bow strat besides the jump technique and is featured on a guy running the sapphire stars guidance ( late game quest hunting multiple tempered elders) In under 10 mins. Fully charged o twice is faster than trying to charge a dragon piercer and more reliable for damage.

Hey Tag, just wanted to say how great your videos are! Also, I like your builds in ARK and your MHW game play! If possible (I know this is the wrong video but still) could you give me some ARK building tips? I have the same mods as you for your castle style build + some. Thanks for being awesome Tag!

Replace the attack 3 charm with a constitution 3 charm, to allow for more dashes. Also if people don't have normal shot decoration they can use Diablos Nero greaves instead of kaiser to get the skill.

Also, I believe it's Azure Rath Waist that has "piercing shot" which amps each hit of Dragon Piercer by an INSANE amount (My bow style is generally to strafe around and focus primarily on aiming those "perfect aim" DP's). Tag, I had a question for you as well. I've had a lot of luck using elemental bows as of late, particularly with tempered bosses. I'm shortly getting critical element, and am looking forward to that. Do you find that Bows should focus primarily on raw? Bc the damage difference with the "proper" element even with no other boosts to it seem to really make an enormous difference on dragon piercers.

i have 2 nergigante pieaces for stamina surge and attack boost but im built more around decorations increasing my skills and not just my armor i pull maybe a bit more damage than hes pulling with his bow though

Jared Wolf I've been messing around with a lot of different bow builds with element and raw comparisons while keeping high constitution. I've found that critical element is necessary (particularly with high element bows) to keep your damage on par with higher raw/lower element bows. Especially for your Dragon Piercer. Dragon piercer seems to scale mainly raw and it's very noticeable. However, critical element brings the dragon piercer damage way (again on high element bows) so that it competes and, at times, exceeds the other high raw/lower element archetype. Also, 2 points in evade extender is huge if you can fit that in. I use kushala pants for it and find myself behind monsters and lining up my DP before the finish their attack in situations where my evade would have otherwise just evaded.

Good advice, latent power isn't that great anyways. In an ideal hunt you won't get damage and getting a buff every 5 minutes for 90s is worse than other skills.

Hey tag... can you do one of these for heavy bow gun? I noticed some of the xeno/zorah bowguns have - infinity. Any suggestions on builds you like? Thx

There is no perfect build, but thanks for the tips/video! I personally hate strict min/maxing I prefer having fun and playing a character. So long as you win it doesn't matter what your build is. Having fun always matters. Keep posting sir, great insight.

Decorations can be removed/reused on any item that has a slot to allow for it. You'll see there's 3 types of slots available, only certain decorations will fit in those slots.

Kirin set with ur choice gloves, going for stamina thief and volly/arc shot... Keep then grounded with able to 4 charge dragon piercer

What about, “Kirin B” Helmet, “ Barroth A” Chest, and “Barroth A” Vambraces, “Rath Soul A” Coil, “Lavasioth B” Greaves, and “Trickshot Charm 2”, or another charm could be the “Fitness Charm 3”. “With your choice of Bow.”

And u can get more affinity with weakness exploit, and the blast bow I believe it's palamu tree... And free element skill to unlock it with attack boost charm

So i have spreadshot sureshot and piercingshots any thoughts

You can do way more damage (45-55 per hit) with just weakness exploit, an actual good bow, expert, capped out element, and elemental crit

Is there a way to use more than one element with bows??

Some nice thoughts put into the build but don't think you can classify this as 'high damage bow build'. I will say you are at best reaching mid tier damage. But hei, at least there is more potential for growth. I.E. bow charge deco for tier 4 charge? Diabolus bow + Elementless? Critdraw+DP build? Phemento elemental crit build? Also Constitution 3 + dash juice, very good. worth giving it a try

I need an advice i have gone like a year without playing and i don’t remember how to get decirations its not like in Genereations Ultimate but how do i get these because i need to upgrade my bow set anyone help!

This is my first MH game. I noticed in many builds, most people rarely use a Defense jewel or go out of their way to pick armor that has it. I largely use a LS but my build has L7 Attach and L7 Defense plus other things like Weakness Exploit, etc. Am i doing myself a disservice by using Defense? My charm is L3 Defense so that I want to change to Handicraft or Critical Boost. This game is so deep in customization, its amazing.

late game, once you armor is fully augmented/upgraded defense will come in less handy. certainly nothing wrong with it. staying alive is half of the game :)

I mean, overall you do more damage alive then carted back to camp, but if you hunt monsters you are pretty confident with, I would swap the defense boost out if I were you, on tempered elders I guess there is never anything wrong with more defense so you can play more aggressively, depends on playstyle I would say :)

Frank Morissette I use defense jewels. Mainly on my part breaker gear. IG and Lance. Comes in handy. Defense, part breaker and medicine is sick. Full tank mode

Having nore defence isn't bad, the reason people don't use it in their sets is because the amount of defence that it gives is pathetic

I feel like FightingCowboys bow build is probably easier for newer players to get. It uses Cera Coilbender bow (black Diablos), DK eyepatch, Teostra chest and gauntlets, nergigante coil and black diablos greaves with a constitution charm. Obviously there are gems to go with it, but the base skills on the armour in the early game are much better until you can get tempered elder dragon investigations later on, although this is still very good but only with the gems as skills like normal shots are necessary for bow but you are using a rare gem which newer players can’t get for a while. I’d recommend anybody wanting to try this build uses a different one until they have lots of gems.

Does normal shot really increase the damage that much? Because I’m using a alright set the gems are mediocre but I’m hitting really low. I also have high weakness exploit attack and critical eye and im just hitting low lol.

You should have Pierce shots and trueshot level 2 for piercing along with the maxed out blos bow with nonelemental. You'll be doing 100 damage dragon piercer chains with 100% crit chance. This bow isn't gimped badly.

Bass Ackwards care to explain how your getting 100% crit with a bow that starts out with -30 affinity? Oh you can’t! Got it. Think before you type ignorant shit. The best you can do is 65% crit with attack lvl 4, expert lvl 7, and 1 affinity aug combined with max weakness exploit

I never take any bow build without constitution at least at lvl4. Also, Earplug lvl5 would make your life a lot easier with Nergigante.

ive been running an explosive build. Archers Dance III, kirin vest-boots-waist, dragon king eye patch, kaiser vambraces a, Demolition charm 3, (crisis jewel, protection jewel, drain jewel, fortitude jewel, def jewel 1). its not a perfected build but it gives me 222atk, 390+def, 20(70) afinity, 330+10bu blast. skills so far are weakness exploit 3, blast attack 3, free elem/ammo up 3, divine blessing 3, resuscitate, fortitude, stamina theif 1, def boost 1, and blight res 1. i plan to alter to have more stamina, and norm shot at some point. but im only HR45 atm

No eye only add crit chance not dmh ad long as you attack weak points you get plus 50 affinity crit dmg comes from crit boost which in turn doesn't really boost it that much

my build got crit draw 3, focus 3, quick sheath 3, friendship 3(or whatevs its called) , protection 3, diablos mastery, weakness exploit 2, normal boost, non element boost. Now i centered this build around draw crits. So you draw, charge up to lvl3 , shoot and sheath, repeat. Sounds good right? Sadly it doesnt. Its always a crit, yes, but only does 28x3 damage. So i feel, quick repeating shots are the way to go. since you can rapidly fire arrows that do overall more damage.

Honestly think 3pc xen/2pc Rath is better. People overhype attack boost on bow when its one of the lowest multipliers. That build nets near the same on normal shot combos but you see insane numbers on dragon piercer.

How do you upgrade attack charm? I’ve been wondering about that for so long send help pls

Klau_Z you upgrade them like any other part of ur armour just go to the smithy [upgrade gear] and select the charm from ur equipment. From there it's get the needed items to craft it

I have a question ,somewhat off topic btw so im using the sin dual blades and it has this grayed out element (fire 180) So i found a charm with the skill to unlock 15% (idk how much% something like 15 i thought) of the elemental power ,im using the full odogaron alpha set dont rlly like mixing gear so does anyone recommend a set? Prefferably with skills that somewhat compliments the dual blade Thanks in advance ;)

I would use the Elementless Decoration to increase the weapon damage of the Sin Dual Blades rather than unlocking the element :) that way you dont have to mix sets

Weak exploit 2 and critical draw 3 on cera bow 100%crit chance and with teostra mail beta and the rathsoul waist beta your dragonpiercer is going to make 130 dmg per hit, if u avail the 3rd bow shot.. So how many times it hits? Idk like 5 to 7 times, say 6 times x 130 dmg, you have 30 dmg per shot. What's better? :p

Attack is cool until you run out of stamina. I don’t have 7 attack but I have full constitution and 3 stamina surge so I can help my team and not just be a cherry picker

You have a Build for Legia Snowfletcher? I find the Ice Element very nice, but it is kind of hard to make a endgame Build for it, even if it is level 8.

Zersus Afterwork I have one and all it needs is 2 ice attack jewels and a might bow jewel (slot every extra slot with whatever you want or expert): Rath soul helm beta (A.Rath.) Rathalos chestplate beta Kushala waist alpha or beta Kaiser arms beta (teostra) Diablos Nero greaves (B.Diablos) Fitness charm III (constitution) It gives max ice attack (the snowfletcher caps at 4) weakness exploit 3, bow charge +, normal shots, 2 evade window, constitution 3, elemental crit, and whatever expert you put on it

If it follows previous games, taking 180 damage or fighting for at least 5 mins should activate it. Someone correct me if it's different now in MHW. The perk should last for about a minute.

Build seems mediocre. I get way higher numbers with the elementless build. Seems that way anyhow. When I dp a week spot I don't see any numbers under 50. Critical for near 100. However this build may be better for solo play?

Using an element less bow with the gem will increase damage quite a bit. that goes the same with pretty much any weapon class. it was more about the gear build that can be used with any bow. the bow you decide to use with the build will really determine the damage.

Honestly not all monsters are ideal for dragon peirce, and even then if used right I've seen elemental builds get faster kill times. Check out phemeto. He has a great run on Teostra up right now that showcases a better playstyle

Isn't it a little boring to use Diablos weapon for every class? They are objectively better damage wise than any other class, so it's almost pointless to make build videos with them. I'm rather interested in the hidden gems. Specially the builds that unlock the potential of the Xeno'jiiva's weapon, when you get a lot more jewels. I don't want to farm Diablos and Black Diablos anymore. I'm not going to get more Diablos weapons anymore. Three is enough for me.

Olyphantastic I wouldn't call it boring so much. I love trying out different builds and play styles but at the end of the day, I go with the highest damage build I can put together with what gems I have. As it is right now, I can make 1 weapon and do great damage or make 5 different bows and gear sets to do the same damage or less. I would really like to try the crit draw build. I just don't have the decorations for it.

DJFRMTX his affinity is over 50 he wearing weakness exploit lvl 3 gives him 50% when hitting the weak spots add in his critical eye he at 65% or higher

jiar ahmed If you have defeated him multiple times, you have it unlocked. His set is located in the Teostra section, if you scroll over it, his armor pieces are called Kaiser.

Smh. For using a bow u didnt even equip the close coating during nergigante.

so you say your not gonna take a lot of damage which is why you have peak performance , but you also have latent power which activates after taking so much damage. this build is just not good.

That crit is useless if you're out of stamina every 5 seconds

Your crit is low. Crit is better on a bow vs raw attack power. I'm 45% affinity and with a few other skills mixed it absolutely bombs monsters on normal shots.

Why high crit? don't you need a balance of stats, is there a Diminishing Returns?? if so then you cant go all in on one stat you would have to have a balance of stats???

This isn't so bad, needs constitution and bow charge plus, but so help me if I ever find the asshole telling people to spam arc shot in multiplayer. I could not play blademaster online the last 2 days without slotting in flinch free thanks to all the little 5 damage balls falling from the sky. I promise you the melee will outdamage your arc shot, let them lol

Feircy True. But as a bow user, you can't really control where you your team mates will move when you use it. As a blade master, move to a spot where you won't get flinched. Players in MP just need to be situational aware and have some etiquette.

Bow users don't use arc shot for damage. They use it for ko/exhaust. Arc shots can make fights pretty much a joke once the monster starts getting exhausted.

Isaac Zais I’ve been in a team where Xeon killed everyone except me in one sweeping blast after it flew to the other side of the screen, we went from no deaths to wiped in 2-3seconds. I had 60% hp and was hit while carving its tail, but I didn’t die, everyone else had full hp and were ranged, they all failed the dodge. Full dps builds leads to more mission failures in general, don’t spread that cancer to the masses.

Isaac Zais Xenos easy, i soloed it my first try while half asleep without any spoilers. Didn’t know what it was, what it was weak to, what attacks it did. I would still rather have allies that didn’t play stupid and geared properly for their play style.

Alexandre Rondeau nope. If your weapon already has affinity then use it, but if you've got 0 affinity or running the diablos weapons with minus affinity then the booster is completely pointless. Considering the fact you think the affinity booster better than having 2 mantles... You obviously haven't faced tempered elders or done the HR 100 quest. They move & attack so much that you'll either get knocked out the booster area or have to chase them making the booster pointless in the first place.

Not only is the combat in this game garbage it has a worse community than Destiny and The Division combined.
