    The NAD amps that are true killers are the NAD C298 (Two channel 185 W per channel), and NAD 28 (200 W all seven channels). These are the leading edge class D Eigentakt topology. The M10 has a an older Hypex Topology D class amp, which is good, but not great. However, for those who want and all in one streamer player the M10 is quite good. M33 though is even better. Thanks Mike for bringing to light a good entry level audiophile two channel product.

    I've got an M33 and DIRAC has made all the difference. I guess the better your room from an acoustical point of view, the less need for room correction. In my case, lots of windows, marble floor (albeit with a nice rug), cabinet with glass sliding doors. With DIRAC bass is fast, taut; midrange doesn't scream at you and everything snaps into place with imaging of my DALI Rubicon speakers. The default DIRAC target curve is indeed thin sounding. i use the Harman target curve (google it) and the NAD Room feel target curve (a bit bass heavy for my liking).

    The node 2i DAC or preamp is not as good. Then u gotta add a sinergic amplifier. Then you don t have dirac corrextion. I think it doesn t even have Arc (hdmi) etc etc. By the time u got all these with the node you would have spent more probably with worse results acoustically speaking. Of course you can run the node into a nice amp but it has to have its own dac to perform as good as the M10. At that point you have two box. You probably spent more. No dirac etc etc

    Do you know if once you link your Spotify account in the BlueOS app, do you have to control it from the BlueOS app or can you control it from Spotify directly? Normally all Spotify enabled devices on the network get discovered by Spotify. I am thinking about a scenario where if other, less tech savvy, people in the house want to use the NAD M10 it would be easier if they could do so directly from the Spotify app. Having every potential user download the BlueOS app seems like a burden.

    BlueOS for controlling the music is not user friendly at least compared to Spotify. Once I had my speakers set up with my Powernode I never open the blueos app and this is one of the reasons I use Spotify even though it is not high Rez. Can't wait for it to upgrade later this year. Other devices are going this route now too but reportedly have had issues. As long as BlueOS doesn't glitch that is all I need it to do.

    What is an audiophile? If the definition is someone who spends time and money to satisfy their golden ear tinkering with and listening to their equipment rather than the music that comes from it, then this won't satisfy them at all. It's pretty much a set and forget solution so endless tinkering is out of the question once installed and Dirac configured. It's a one box solution so there won't be thousands of dollars of audiophile interconnects required. It's tiny so there won't be a massive rack of equipment to annoy the wife and impress the friends with. Mine sits in a cabinet behind a closed door, so its not even on display. But if the goal is just to engage with all the music effortlessly, then this is the way to go for sure. And with decent speakers and Dirac configured, it sounds stupendous. Those who have not experienced first hand and are judging based on size, stats and price are missing out for sure.

    There is a lot to like about the M10 and at the price it offers great performance and a lot of well sorted functionality. I'm a fan of streamers, they are a good fit with how I access and listen to music. I've had a few, all Yamaha until now. They have all powered a pair of wall mounted PSB mini's and a PSB subseries 200 in a modest listening space. The speakers sound great but sounded even better with each subsequent upgrade. The players have all been concealed within a cabinet, not on display and driven with a mobile device (iphone). Sources include a digitised CD library on a NAS in addition to Spotify, et al. The only connections are mains power, speakers and sub, ethernet cable so they are tidy from a cabling perspective too. First point, the BluOS experience is much better than Musiccast. No comparison really. It's a nice place for controlling what you want to listen to at any time, easily switching between listening sources. That you can hear almost anything ever recorded by just moving your thumb is surely a wonder of the modern age. The M10 is a big upgrade in sound quality compared to the RN-602 that it replaced, despite the similar specs. And combined with Dirac, provides a listening experience not dissimilar to using Magnepan speakers where the sound seems to come from everywhere rather than a point source. That is a very neat trick. And its powerful, able to provide good listening levels with great clarity and no signs of stress from my small speakers. Up to 90db is enough, I've capped the volume to ensure listening levels don't accidentally vaporise my ears which is a potential hazard controlling volume with a mobile device. Don;t ask me how I know this. ;) On the negative side, there is an issue reported by BluOS users that the connected sub is weak, the bass not fully present and the sub not turning on. This turned out to be easily sorted but took a while to find the solution. NAD/PSB were little help sadly, I ended finding the answer with community support. Now it works as it should and sounds great. To those who suggest it's expensive, class D is junk, it can't do AV, etc, don't buy it, this is not for you. But if you need a mature integrated streamer with the convenience of a well featured software ecosystem that is discrete and sounds great, this is definitely worth a look. It's arguably top of the pile in its class. And if you are planning to run a sub, a Y splitter at the sub end of the sub out cable will make your sub sing. It's all win from where I sit.

  • @vlax543

    @vlax543

    Helo there. What do you mean by Y splitter. Do u have link for this explanation 🤔. Right now I fixed the problem by using pre out

  • @KeithHeinrich

    @KeithHeinrich

    2 жыл бұрын

    A cable with one RCA at the M10 subout end to two RCA at the subwoofer end. Solved the issue. NAD refuse to admit its an issue (of course it is) but has fixed it in the M10 V2. In part, the response to a question I posed to NAD recently: This was a common report for the NAD M10 and M33. Many customers expected more low-frequency presence from these powerful NAD amplifiers. After a detailed investigation, our engineers came to the conclusion that the M10 and M33 subw voltage is correct and operating as expected. However, some customers still desired more bass presence. To help provide a product for these customers, the new NAD M10 V2 is featured with updated gain algorithms. --- Correct as designed, but did not work to the satisfaction of users. A defect in other words. Like Fonzy, they just can't admit they were wro..., wro..., wrong.

  • @vlax543

    @vlax543

    2 жыл бұрын

    Thank you for the answer however I also google this: In addition, if you still use the RCA "Y" splitter cable, you have the potential to boost the sub's output signal when plugging into both the red and white RCA inputs on the back of the sub. If you choose to do this, please note that connecting both inputs in parallel will double the input voltage which equals a 6dB boost in output. However, the input impedance will then be effectively "halved" and that could potentially cause loading problems for some sources (receivers, amps etc.). Overall, it is not recommended to use a Y-splitter on any of our powered subwoofers that were manufactured in the past 10 years or so. What do u think about "loading problems"
