Hidden Windows Tool That You Probably Didn't Know

Hidden Windows Tool That You Probably Didn't Know
A "clean boot" starts Windows with a minimal set of drivers and startup programs, so that you can determine whether a background program is interfering with your game or program. This is similar to starting Windows in Safe Mode, but provides you more control over which services and programs run at startup to help you isolate the cause of a problem.

I had to install a clean boot of Windows 11 yesterday. All the measures I tried that I saw on KZread didn't work. I got in touch with a Dell employee in California who sent me a link to Microsoft to do a fresh install. I tried copying some photos from an SD card to a hard drive since the XPS 8960 has an SD card reader. Apparently, something corrupted the PC and I was stuck in a "restart loop" and going nowhere. One comment about this fresh install, I had to do those registry hacks from your privacy video all over again and with regedit, to lock in the 23H2 version. One thing with this "fresh install" is that it's not very welcoming to anyone wanting to open a local account. I'm using a local account but apparently I can't edit it, like changing the password for example. They really want people to sign in with a Microsoft account. Is there a registry hack to circumvent this? Keep up the good work Brian.

I have a win 11 pro machine fully activated but without any personal accounts on it which I use for benchmarking. Stay away from regedit and consider this solution which worked for me. "USE AN OFFLINE ACCOUNT - How to Install Windows 11 Without Logging into Microsoft - Easy Hack" (copy and paste) It's from Tek Syndicate Good luck mate also without your "account" the number of running processes drop dramatically which is good for my work.

Thank you for a very informative video. I knew about msconfig for startup and boot options but not about performing a clean boot.👍

Great stuff Brian I had forgotten about this msconfig stuff and am going back to see what is happening because my main laptop is steadily becoming slower at boot and between apps. Now just out of interest I used to set the boot section go to advanced and select multiple cores etc as I thought it would speed up the boot etc. So what are your thoughts on that boot section in msconfig??

I thought it was my Bios, but it turns out it was one Intel driver and an AMD audio driver, I reinstalled them and now my computer starts within 38 seconds, I was worried it was taking forever to post from the bios to Windows, but, it works fine now, Thank you Brian.

Ummm.... isn't there a system log that you can inspect for any crash errors before you even start to disable services??? I would think that checking the system log would help the process of elimination go much quicker!!! 😬

I did one "clean boot" or something like that for one of my mouse display "Blicking" issue with McAfree Web Advisor Tool recently. And it works but it is hell to pay for whole 2-days period of nightmare. But when you know the issue, you will feel a sense of relief.

This reminds me of troubleshooting extensions in Mac OS 7. Disable all of them and re-enable a few at a time until you replicate the problem. A very long process.
