What I have taken away from all of these wonderful houses is room assignments are only fixed if you want them to be. Otherwise a storage room with a window could be an autonomous suite. A kitchen/ diner could be a primary bedroom with ensuite. Two rooms side by side could have the dividing wall breached to be a open plan kitchen, dining, lounge. Voids can contain watertanks, hot water heaters, and electrics. Your imagination is the only thing holding one back. I love to think anything is possible with the right Italian architects and craftsmen. This house is just plain awesome as it is filled with opportunities.

In all fairness, as a vacation house with charm, all it needs is cleaning, a stove in the kitchen, (well, the idea of opening the kitchen to the room next to it sounds good), repair the ceilings with damage, take care of the exterior walls, and that's it....Beautiful paintings on the walls and nice furniture do the rest. An outdated bathroom? I can live with that.The cantina would do a beautiful sitting-library and the room across an office or guest bedroom or simple storage for all your vacation stuff and luggage, (perhaps turning the storage next to that room into a bathroom? or not....but hey, it's a vacation home in a small town in Italy, not a luxury penthouse in New York)

I’m laughing because I lived in Napoli & lived in the center. The side view mirrors are your guides! My friends called them “proximity indicators” because they extend out from the side of the car… tells you how much space you have. 😉

Great possibilities with this property….more work than I’d being willing to put in to update and make it habitable, though. Rather get a place for €60k-€80k that is updated and move-in ready.

Most ceiling in the states are around 9 to 10 ft high. Sine are 8 ft high so if your saying that those ceiling are 3 meters high. They could be building more rooms In them can't you

Hi. It depends on so many things like the standard you want, whether you're willing to do some of the less specialised, yet tedious work yourself, etc. As a rule of thumb, per sqm it can be around €700 but it depends. I would get a few quotes 😉

How do you know that the balconies on old houses are safe to step on?

Hi. Sometimes it can be obvious that there is no damage. Particularly from underneath, you can see the beams, cement and iron supports. The general state of the rest of the house can also be a signal

In your estimation how much would an interior upgrade cost compared to Australia eg. New flooring, painting, standard Aussie kitchen and gut bathroom.

Hi Lisa. It depends on the standard and how much you are willing to do yourself, but on average here they charge about €700 per sqm of renovation. A kitchen can be out together easily, especially if you don't move things too much around

Another great possibility for a B and B! Too much house for me!
