Thanks so much. I did this exact treatment to my sons room. On his shiplap wall there is a closet that we placed the shiplap on as well and need it to be invisible. I am working with soss to see about the right hinge and hopefully soon it will be flush just like your water closet. Hoping my carpenter can work it out on our 1930's home.....Thanks for sharing.

The author does like to from scratch, kzread.infoUgkxbnOKZBE4evMO5V2vroHeCjq6d_MV6wJO shaping and trimming wood from large blocks into fine finished products. As another reviewer mentioned, most projects require a lot of high-dollar equipment that most of us don’t have the room or budget for. But, knowing how to do these things, even if we won’t be able to practise the full stack project, is still great.

It looks like the horizontal orientation of the wood planks is a key design element that is carried out in other parts of the home. This suggests that such linear orientation was important to the designer in achieving a particular result (such as visually lengthening a room or rooms) that was more important than fully concealing the door. A broad number of design considerations come in to play when doing sophisticated remodels such as this.

Since the door opens in, you could have had an overlap board so you don't have a vertical line on both sides of the door. I want to do that for a gun closet but it opens out. That gets tricky.

First, I'll say that overall, I love the bathroom and I love the use of the original materials in this way. However, I have two nitpicks. (1) the seams don't line up. They care close, but off enough that I would focus on it and not enjoy the otherwise nice work. Second, although an in-swing normally makes sense, what happens if someone collapses inside this room? There appears to be so little room that it could be impossible to open the door.

You can go with a sandwich door just fine, it's just that it needs to be the kind that's designed to accept these types of hinges. Harder to find, but not impossible. It makes the hinge life expectancy shoot considerably, and, bonus, no warped doors. Which the solid ones tend to do years after installation, if they don't come warped already. And boy, let me tell you, having to comb cut a solid oak door so you can make it pliable and then glue a fascia on that side is not an easy job.

As with our trial so far with the Soss hinges it appears to open on a slightly greater radius than desired so the front left corner of the door edge hits the jamb.

I don't know how to pose this question except to say that without any tools or will know how my dad built in a bunch of shelves and drawers and everything into a VW classical bus for road trips and camping and now that he's dead I can't ask him about how he did the cabinet so that the hinges kind of swivelled and then went in to save space and also to make things more safe.. it wasn't pretty but it was cool cuz you onion or hunting hooked a cabinet door and it had a hinge so that you could pull it up and then slide it in. and you could also pull something out and have like a little writing desk. So I'm looking for something like that. 360 ball hinge maybe. so you can turn that sled of wood anyway you want and could have lock it so it could be like a desk and then to put it away you it just rotated and put it back down and that would be secretly hidden again. like I said not a carpenter and don't have every tool in the book and I think that's what you need cuz my God my family built some amazing things with little to nothing and for nothing. I was just really hopeful that you might need me so I can make improvements to things but actually I would love to make my night stands that would have a invisible pull out bed desk and also be able to change the doors on my kitchen cabinets to make them cooler. instead of finish on the side the other ones I would love to finish them on the top so you flip them up. what kind of hinges would I need for that? I really hope to meet some cool furniture and also love to make existing furniture with good bones make changes two existing furniture with great bones. I am desperate to also replace pull out drawers with those swivel drawers you just press on one side and it swivels open and I would like to replace my desk drawers and my nightstand drawers than others like that I love that and its space-saving and sometimes it's super necessary to not have pull out drawers. And I want to know how to do that and do it on a dime budget you know what I mean? So I'm asking about a 360 ball hinge if it exists I'm asking about how to make drawers into swivel drawers and also what kind of hinges to get so that I can use that for my highest cupboards that I want to slip up and not side to side. I hope you can help with a shoestring budget a girl who has some assembly required skills and a lot of imagination and work ethic. PS also the New York kind of girl as well fighting for every square foot and beauty and Imagination and Intrigue and luxury these things are really cool. I love things that are multi-functional and useful and I hope that I can make that in this messy comment
