    You should know you are the reason I got into Steel series. Love your review of Siberia V2 and 650 was so happy to see a new one on current Artics line. They are so complete. Downside is I have to figure out how to use the equalizer more. Siberia 650 or elite prism made it so easy with its presets. Now I really have to get my hands dirty with audio frequency

    I don't know if it's only myself, but I ended up returning mine. The sound was fantastic but it lacked bass. I mean lacked ALOT of bass. I turned all the bass to the max on the steelseries engine and could barely hear/feel any bass. It felt super weak. I also tried to download an external equalizer, turned up the bass there aswell but ingame and listening to specific parts of music it felt like the bass was hurting the headphones, like something is hitting them in the earcups, and still wasn't enough bass. Don't know if it was a faulty pair, but it was very quick and easy to return them. Like the store I bought them from already knew what I was talking about, altough I don't think I mentioned the bass problem to them. I've been using the steelseries siberia v2 heat orange for 6 years approximately and they had amazing bass.

    I have done yes although I don't think many if any games support 96kHz 24bit audio. For gaming I usually use the PC input rather than High-Res. I've not used a custom EQ yet but I used a few of the preset ones notably the "Smiley" Preset in the EQ settings.

    Ok. The reason I ask is because I feel like the low to mid lows over power everything else. Like if you’re in a gunfight the bullets and explosions seem so loud. (I know nothing about what sounds are in what range I’m just guessing based on 5 minutes of research) Which I guess is realistic. But I like being able to hear the subtitle details but can’t seem to get the EQ the way I like. Do you have the same experience or is it just me?

  • @lionheartx10

    @lionheartx10

    6 жыл бұрын

    Let me do some more tweaking of my settings in some FPS games see what I come up with. Try the "reference" EQ preset that drops the bass and mids a bit, if that seems to help then try a similar custom profile with a similar layout but likely tweak the end of the mids and highs up a bit more.

    Weird. Do you recommend the Artics 5 over HS60s or even the a10s? In my experience the 10s felt uncomfortable after about 45min to an hour. The hs60s is hard for me to find, even on amazon. But my "local" best buy (about an hour and a half) But they seem pretty good and comfy. And the 5s are easy to find, and feel and sound great. But is it worth an extra $15 or should I try my luck with the hs60s (0 experience with) or tough out the a10s.

    Ah right well if that is what Cesar means then fear not, from my experience the cables are rather robust and if they were to break, the whole headset is modular so all the cables detach and replacements can be purchased / sent out to replace them and the headset will still function fine. If the internal components were to fail in the earcups themselves then assuming youre still in warranty SteelSeries should sort them out for you!

  • @lionheartx10

    @lionheartx10

    6 жыл бұрын

    Yes these are currently the best you can get for PS4 audio, as I mention in the review the Arctis Pro has double the frequency response range (40,000hz) of tithe Astro A50s (and 40s) meaning that’ll you’ll benefit from a much wider and full audio experience l. You should hear details much more clearly in gaming audio and overall have a better audio playback experience with the Pros over the Astros. I would recommend tweaking the EQ settings of the pros if you bought the GameDAC too as FPS sounds might sound a bit flat on the default preset. Shots and gunfire etc will sound much puncher tweaking the EQ to some of the other presets or setting your own custom one.

    Just one question that I have been posting on every review with not much help. Did you get to try the wireless and if you did how do the compare to the wired + gameDAC? Is it the same or is the wired superior?

  • @lionheartx10

    @lionheartx10

    6 жыл бұрын

    No I only got to try out the Pro with GameDAC. However the Pro with GameDAC will give you superior sound over the wireless, as the wireless only benefits form the 40,000Hz frequency response of the headphone drivers for hi-di audio while the GameDAC offers additional support for 96kHz 24bit hi-res audio playback. TeachteamGB took a look at both in his review video. If you want great sound and wireless then the wireless version is the one to go for but if superior sound is your aim the get the wired Pro with GameDAC

    I find headphones like this (the over ear) give more bassy, but less audio quaility, whilst in ear types give better audio quailty (ive tried 30, 70, 120 quid over ear headphones like the one in this vid) Its hard to get behind a 250quid pair which auguably wont give out any greater sound due to most games not using the format described. maybe in a few years (when the price goes down and the vairity of sound increases) but for now, its a bit much even if u do have the money just my 2 pennys. Not cents, not a god damn yank!

    While most games aren’t taking advantage of hi-fi audio currently it’ll only be a matter of time before they do. Plus I see this headset as a multi-use headset it can be used for gaming but also music and movies which currently do support hi-if audio playback. Also due to the larger frequency response on the Pro current gaming audio does sound better compared to existing gaming headsets. I think the pricing of it too has more to do with it challenging existing audiophile hi-fi headphones rather than gaming headsets. Although the Astro a40s are prices the same as this at £249.99 however the Arctis Pro is a much better deal!

  • @TheLoneMartian

    @TheLoneMartian

    Headsets should not matter that much in that kind of decision in my opinion as there are always other options. The wireless is not "hi-res certified" like this version because it doesn't come with the GameDAC and won't offer 24bit 96kHz. So, I would recommend the wired one that comes with it unless you absolutely want or need wireless. Xbox has been severely lacking in the gaming department so far and I regret not owning a ps4 at the moment because of the exclusives coming but my PC always comes first.

  • @lionheartx10

    Guess it depends if you really want to swap console systems just for an audio upgrade. While its certainly a step up over other gaming headsets its already £249.99, a PS4 Pro is what £300 on top of that again, plus the fact you'd have to buy your games again for the new system too. I don't think thats worth it unless you are genuinely interested in the games lineup that the PS4 PRO offers. But if I'm not mistaken the Xbox One X is the better Console currently.

    I bought this headset yesterday. I do encounter some problems though. When i use the high ress option on my Arctis Pro + Gamedac and i set it on 2 channel, 24bits, 96000hz studioquality my mic no longer works. When i put it on 2 channel, 16bit, 48000hz dvd quality it does work. I do not want to use this option since i want to use the 96000hz option. Also iam experiencing the problem that the SSE does not recoqnize my device when plugged in. This headset does support the 96000hz high ress settings. I've just tested this on my headset + gameDAC I am able to listen to audio playback at the High-Res input setting on the gameDAC at 96kHz 24bit and my microphone is working. Tested it by recording a mic test to audacity as well as checking the mic was working via the sidetone feature. Have you tried factory resetting the gameDAC? As for the SSE not showing the Arctis Pro thats due to them not pushing the updated version of the SSE software for the PRO live yet at least this has been my experience. I expect them to release a new version of the SSE software supporting the PRO range soon!

We even had 24bit source audio in some games 15 years ago. Just because you play crappy console games aimed at people with low standards, doesn't mean that's what the rest of us play. I used to work with audio, it's standard procedure to create the original recordings/samples at an absurdly high quality. Several devs have even explicitly mentioned that the audio is 24bit/96khz, such as Rainbow Six, do some research before spreading misinformation. Have fun with your low fi inferior audio.
