That's because this is a half Windsor knot. You end up with that lopsided looking triangle knot. Look up how to do a full windsor. It has an extra couple steps and had that nice symmetrical knot

My husband never had much time for our sons and when the eldest was going away to a private college many states away. We were shopping at Penney’s and I don’t know how the elderly salesman guessed that I was unprepared to help much. He came up and asked about what kinds of activities was my son interested in. In the next hour, he had coached him about ties, sitting down & undoing the suit coat button, zipper checks and riding city buses. I’m so grateful for good men💕

Idk why but the concept of a tie is just so funny, like you got a lil thing flapping around everywhere you go

@@JM-dy4ty it’s called a four in hand, a half Windsor or a full Windsor for that matter adds structure after the first cross over that you would do (wide end crossing over narrow end)

For how sophisticated this man is. I was fully expecting a double Windsor at least. It is the best one after all.

In case anyone is wondering, this is called a “four in hand” knot, it’s also how my Dad taught me to tie a tie. Nowadays I use bigger knots due to my collar and tie sizes

Finally a tie tutorial that actually works and doesn't feel like I'm watching a magic trick being done.

These are great for one reason. Growing up without a “dad” someone could use these videos to guide them. It sounds simple and stupid but it is 100% true. (This comment got way more likes than I thought! Everyone stay up! Stay positive where and when you can. 🙏🙌)

My father passed 4 years ago when I was 19 and some of my fondest memories are of him tying my tie for me for prom or homecoming in highschool. I knew how to do it but I could never get the length right. Plus i knew it made him happy being able to help me look my best. He was a great dad. I miss him everyday.

There’s SO many knots you can do with a tie. My friends and I used to do “tie Tuesday’s” at school and we’d all wear ties. The only special knot I got down was a Windsor. Wish I knew more.

It's a smaller knot which work better with some collars and brings a little bit of sprezzatura into the outfit, because it's not symmetrical like a half Windsor etc. And of course he's not doing a fucking trinity knot for a beginners tutorial!

This was a life savor for a speech I have to give in the morning and now I can tie my tie for it and look professional when I was told I “didn’t have to wear a tie” because it’s for the guys, I’m a female so looking professional with a tie is important to me because I want to wear a tie. If that makes any sense at all.

Took me two tries compared to the other video I watched where I couldn’t get it. This video made it much easier to understand.

Every monday during high school, it was mandatory for some of us to wear a tie. Since I learnt to do mine, I was able to help a lot of others. Was happy that I could make good use of my skill 😂

@@moggtheboss3087 good question, we have our official morning assemblies every monday. It's usually the day where the principal gives speech/giving out awards to those who won recent competitions/celebrating birthdays, national reading,science,safety month and etc.

I love how initially he looked pissed, then happy as he gets an opportunity to show off

I feel like a double windsor makes sure your knot doesn't look so crooked, but more even. Only issue I have is I have to redo because my tie's size.

Only style novices goes for the double winsor. It’s too thick and it’s quite ugly when it’s symmetrical.

Being a guy who wore nothing else but ties everyday before the pandemic, I found those that don't do a double Windsor end up having to adjust their tie multiple times throughout the day. Although the reality of the situation often happens to be down to what the material is made from. Some are just made for a double knott, others aren't.

Getting the knot techniques are the easy part. Estimating the length you need to distribute in each side and constantly remembering it everytime you wear a tie is the hard part. (Especially different ties with different lengths)

You don't need to remember the length you just need to remember that the first time you tie it make a mental note of where the skinny part is landing in terms of shirt buttons and then you can adjust easily on the second try

This is how my father always ties his ties, except he does the crossing of the fat side over the other side as well. I think the dad here does the half Windsor and my father does the full Windsor.

Only watched because he is handsome. My dad taught me how to tie a tie when I was little because he said that, "the sexiest thing a female can do for a man is tie his tie." He got me when he said, "pop the collar like we did in the 80's." It brought me back

Omg his dad is so fit

I learned it in school. 6-7 yrs of age. It was compulsory for us to wear a school uniform (of course with a tie).

I need to teach myself how to tie a tie. This person is incredibly fortunate that he has such a great dad.

He looks like a great teacher, doctor, yoga instructor, engineer. U r very lucky to have him as a father.
