Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Coming up this week! We're back to covering the latest EV news... but a little differently. Join me as I invite one of the podcast listeners, patreon supporters, and my dear own brother to engage in a conversation about EV rentals, an updated IRS EV related tax credit, and we really dive into what happened recently in Chicago with the series of unfortunate occurrences that resulted in catastrophe for EV drivers.

For that shed, change the receptacle to a NEMA 10-30. Nearly all wire (Romex) is rated for 600v, so change your single pole breaker for this line to a dual pole. This assumes your panel has capacity. Now you can deliver 240V @ 24A or over 5.5 kW L2 charging.

Rentals want “boring” cars that work like every other. Door Handles, Mirror adjustment, etc. Hertz sends multiple emails before your trip with (pretty good) How To videos. EV Charging at Rentals is as far behind as in Public. I rented an EV from Avis and they had it plugged into a 120v outlet, left with 20%. Hertz signed a deal with bp Pulse and they are far behind schedule.

Education on pre-conditioning was the greatest cause for problem. Second was poor repair of DC fast chargers where EA & other non-Tesla stations were 50% functional. Abnormally, many Tesla stalls were down too. Historically they have 99% uptime, but not this time. The charging infrastructure can’t support so much ride share business.

I’ve recently found out that the V3 Tesla Superchargers had the wrong kind of coolant in the charging cables… and it froze! They’ve since swapped it out for a coolant type that is designed to work in such cold temperatures. Sometimes it’s the little things that add up!

Hertz made numerous mistakes when buying so many Tesla’s. They should have bought 75% less and test marketed the concept. I rented Tesla’s and Polestars at the corporate headquarters location. Agents couldn’t tell me where to charge and even said I may be able charge Polestar at a Tesla charging location. I was given the EVs with only a 55-75% charge. At that time, if it was not returned with greater than 70% charge, I would get a $30 fee. Or for $30 more, I could return with any state of charge.

That’s insane. Clearly they were not ready for this… and as a result, neither were their customers!
