VHSMP season 4 seems to be a good replacement. Iskall said etho is tentatively scheduled to join (though not stream, just play) and a handful of other hermits are gonna stream on it

The beginning had strong "we're professional minecrafter" vibes.

I love how Iskall lets them experience the Herald for the first time organically, not telling them everything he knows (as the lead developer and all). Etho's like "careful, watch your step, we might be able to fall in the void" and Iskall is just like

This is my first time seeing this boss - I have to say - for a minecraft boss fight it's done really well! Congrats! What an awesome series overall, hopefully we will get another one some time. :)

Gotta love how quiet iskall is like yes he's sick but I'm 99% sure that he would talk more but if he did he'd spoil it for the other hermits and his goal was really to make them figure it out themselves lol. Love it so much

I dont know if this is as important for players; but as a viewer it would be cool in the vault party hud it showed who had left the vault, or died maybe by turning their head black and white or a slash for death.

I love this! Am very excited to get to the herald myself (29 levels away atm). Just wish instead of teleporting you out youd get to a massive, literal VAULT full of treasure and stuffs! Maybe some murals of famous treasure hunters even? And that's where you can loot the Vault for the trophy. But either way, thank you for an amazing series Iskall! Get well soon! Excited to see you in Hermitcraft!

watching the hermits do a raid style boss in minecraft has just been so very lovely! so glad for the participation!

Wow, I'm impressed with the mechanics and design of the boss and arena, and with actually having to interact with things the mod provides (gear, abilities, etc.) in order to overcome it. I've played quite a few mods and modpacks that add bosses and such, but this is the first one I've seen (so far) that doesn't seem like it can be cheesed and trivialized with only using simple Minecraft mechanics.

I would be lying if I said I wasn't sad that it's over. This was my first introductions into a lot of the hermits, and I think you all did a smashing job at Vault Hunters. Congrats on beating the infamous Herald! It is no easy task. Iskall, you and your team absolutely killed it as usual, and as always. Us hunters really respect what you and the team do. Thank you! :D

I didn't realize how important that tank role was until the final phase. You were having to eat so many high rolled attacks, every time you nearly died my heart jumped lol. You all did fantastic and I'll be watching the other hermits povs in a bit. Sad to see the series end, but happy about everything achieved! You all did wonderful!

WOW! I've been an admirer of the technical feat that is Vault Hunters for a long while. This is my first time seeing the Herald fight, and I find myself once again completely and utterly blown away by the level of polish this thing has. I'm thinking back to things like the boss fights in Galacticraft (all totally lame), and I've just never seen complex boss mechanics done well in Minecraft, let alone meticulously animated! I can only imagine the blood, sweat, tears, and $$ that have gone in to getting this amazing game to where it is today, and I totally don't understand how it was done with you and a small team. It's clearly a labor of love and a passion project, and I'm so excited to keep watching it evolve. I've always enjoyed your single-player VH series, but I never really had the urge to play it myself -- I've always gravitated towards the classic "expert" packs with a heavy focus on automating everything into oblivion, so given the whole premise of VH is around what I considered "manual farming", it didn't seem like it would scratch the itch that I'm looking for when I play modded. This series has really changed my thinking and convinced me to give it a try myself! Bravo, good sir.

Loved your vault hunter series and I'm excited to see what you have planned for season 10 of hermitcraft

This reminds me so much of Day 1 raiding in Destiny. The callouts and urgency figuring out mechanics in the fight. So cool to see this in Minecraft. Well done!

This series was amazing and I love the Boss Fight, Mojang should take notes because I love how it has several phases (well so does The Wither I guess its got 2), it incorporates the Mining part of Minecraft, there's almost a bit of a puzzle element (well maybe puzzle isn't the right word?) to it as you have to figure out how to damage it like with the chest section of throwing things at floating chests and that final phase with those blood thingys just such a cool Boss, the thing I've wanted in Vanilla Minecraft more than anything is a 3rd Boss

Ok. I am going to thumbs up this video because, well, I love the VH team and all the time they have given to me to spend with my adult kids playing this game and em just enjoying each others company. I want to watch this SOOOOOO bad, but I have not seen the process of opening the final vault or the Herald, and I don’t want to spoil it. Thank you to the VH team, and all the hermits, for bringing us along on this journey!

I have held off watching anything from anybody about the Herald until now. Great job, Iskall! You and your team should be proud!

Wow, what a fight! I haven't seen the Herald before, but it was all I expected from an rpg boss fight. Perfectly executed. This is what I've always thought Minecraft should feel like. Absolutely amazing! (I even clapped at the end of the fight 😅)

As a mostly youtube viewer and not having seen the Vh smp the herold was so much better than I was expecting. Phenomenal job to you and your team iskall keep up the great work!

The A team with Iskall85 beat the Hearald about three months ago at the end of that season before Hermits.

Such a wonderful idea, bringing the hermits in to play vault hunters, and I'm so impressed with your drive and passion pulling up everyone that could make it to level 100! Seeing the fight play out like it did is such a compliment to the game design skills of you and your team, where everyone's build filled a necessary niche, but those who made it to the end did so because they had more time in the vaults to practice and experiment with their builds to find the best ability and gear combos. congrats on this lovely series, looking forward to what comes next!

It's so incredible that even though I've already watched this battle from a different perspective, and even though you guys were not focused in the slightest on being entertaining, only on the fight, I was still glued to the screen. Incredible work!

I absolutely adored this series to bits and while I'm sad it's over, I'm so proud of what everyone achieved and so happy about how much fun everyone had, even the people who didn’t make it to lvl 100. And the Herald itself? Absolutely amazing boss fight and a complete joy to watch. I've never seen it before as I'm not a twitch regular and none of the youtube series have made it this far before now... I'm just in awe of how thoughtfully executed it is and how much fun it looks like to do, especially with a group! You and your team have truly created something wonderful, and I'm so glad you decided to share it with your fellow Hermits.

Think you guys did a great job with the boss, would be cool though if there was a last phase where the boss uses all the diffrent gods phases togheter. If it would be too difficult maybe an "uber" version where this exists.

This boss is so cool literally putting the most crucial mechanics of the vaults into a boss: looting, mining, mob slaying etc it's nice seeing everyone figuring it out together and it's my first time seeing the boss, hope you get well soon iskall man

this has been such an amazing series - and what an awesome way to end it! the herald fight is so cool!! I absolutely love that all the different phases being based on the skillsets you develop during the playthrough. and the music! damn, the music - it's so good, makes the whole fight feel even more energetic :D congratulations to the whole vault hunters team, you've truly outdone yourselves!

That was pretty epic seeing the man the myth the legend Etho go down but everyone still giving it there all was great. Everyone did really well helping eachother throughout the fight.

Oh wow, this endgame is far better than the previous versions.

I think an audio indicator of when he loses aggro would be great for the bleed phase. That way those who are chasing them down know if they're potentially being chased. Maybe like a roar when he shifts to a new target.

Sad the series is over but excited to see HC Season X(10) and looking forward to whenever VH Season 4 starts, hoping Etho joins because I have LOVED seeing him playing(hopefully he will do some videos since he doesn't stream)!
