i think allays could absolutely fit the creepy vibe, maybe have them float around a shipwreck as soul of the sailors who didn't survive the crash a notebook should keep them around without leads if I'm not mistaken

If the allay hears a note block play within 16 blocks of its location while delivering items, it will instead deliver its items to the note block and then spend 30 seconds around that particular note block, seeking items around it and returning them to it instead of its player. -source: Minecraft wiki So yeah, it should work

@@HaleToTheWhale ah, thanks for the info, so a noteblock with a hopper clock (or i guess any kind of redstone clock) that activates often enough should work maybe the allays could be holding like a fishing rod, spyglass or something to go with the sailor spirit thing? or one could go for a more morbid version if yamask (i think that's how it's but I'm not sure) and have them hold skulls, i think that could look cool

“Tango’s given me a beacon!” had similar energy to “Master has given Dobby a sock!”

I think grian and gem were just describing themselves at this point talking about the snails

I love the idea of you spending a day at your base to see who stops by. A "yes" day where you say yes to adventures per whomever stops by. Someone comes by with an idea, you join in. You don't suggest you're up to anything, but if they offer, you say yes.

Putting a beacon through the lighthouse and making it change colour when you receive mail could be a cute and useful decoration! Love the little birds the powerlines, they give so much life to the builds!!

people who always say "you should use leads for cables" clearly never worked with them. a) they're too short before the leads to disconnect b) you have to house the animal, even if its a chicken, thats still a 1x1x1 hole needed somewhere c) the leads dont always match the aesthetic d) they only have 1 shape, gravity doesnt work that way on hanging cables most of the time e) e n t i t y c o u n t f) they de-render over a distance g) they're highly impractical and very un-customizable, you can't use them for anything other than a very few specific things h) iron bars, fence posts and walls, can all be used in clever ways. unfortunately everyone on hermitcraft hasn't discovered yet that they actually look better if some are floating and not connected, as your eyes still connect the blank spaces in between each floating post, it looks way better than having a solid line of iron bars like gem has, but one day, once someone realises this, it will step up their cable/rope game. i) they sometimes break for no reason [after watching the rest of the video] j) you can't put parrots on them.

Instead of turning a beacon on/off when you receive mail, you could change the colour of the beacon beam when you get mail if you want the beacon to always be active on your lighthouse.

The bird weighing down the telephone poles is such a good detail

I love the series of snails that keep appearing

Something I never knew I needed was a Gem and Grian duo, the two of them are so chaotic in the best of ways with the snails and it always makes the videos so interesting and entertaining to watch

i think that the allays could go really well with the foggy, kinda spooky vibe of your base. if anyone has ever seen pixar's 'Brave', they could be like the wisps in that movie. i always found those a bit spooky

You might need to ask X, or an admin Hermit for someone to convert a dungeon spawner to a parrot spawner, or just place one as there is no way to breed them, so parrots get really rare on servers. (We added a parrot spawner to our server, we put it in jungle temple so we still have to travel there) Really wish Mojang would add a way to breed them!

@@lomiification I believe technically if you spawn proofed the spawn chunks and removed/ killed / name tagged all mobs in the spawn chunks, and you were the only player online you would have a small chance of having parrots continuously spawn in a jungle biome. But that would be a very big project and especially on a server with lots of online all the time. Personally as parrots are purely aesthetic I don't see harm in having a spawner. But that's beauty of Minecraft and being free to play it how you enjoy it 🙂

Another point against using leads for wires is that they wouldn't always render in, vs you can see the bars and chains from quite far away and I like that more! Also the research station is super cute! Stay safe in the snow storm!

I can tell how wholesome GeminiTay is because she's the only hermit that makes me all giggly when she uploads.

I think the allays could suit the aesthetic, just think of them more as omens/spirits conjured by superstitious sailors-the laughter is already there

One thing I thought I'd mention, as a daughter of long line of sailors & shipbuilders (not that I ever had any interest in it aha), is that the wet effect you do on your supports in water should go above the waterline and be somewhat inconsistent. You did it for the coral base but not your main base iirc. Irl waves, tides and floods cause any wood in water to be left looking wet far above the waterline. The fenders on your research pontoon are such a cute little detail! Your build really brings me back to my childhood

Grian: *Steals gems water theme* Gem: "Fine, then I will steal your crane."

Hearing you speak of a snow storm makes me envious, Gem! I live in Canada too, but the weather is totally on its head right now! It's 11°C outside, people are outside without any coat or light vest, it's weird!! Enjoy the strange cosy mood of it for us!! 😁

You can come shovel my driveway all you want lol It's my bday next Thursday and I used to be able to go out on the town in a skirt and light jacket...until I moved to Newfoundland 😂 in all honesty though, I'm completely climatized and I might actually meet a fatal heatstroke if I tried to do a Toronto summer now lol

The iron bar power lines work. Not as one power line, but as multiple. The thickness and the various lines and gaps look like multiple lines drooping down towards the house, having long been tangled up by the winds to the point where it’s not worth it to try and disconnect the power and untangle them. A hanging bundle of cords and knots. I think it works great.

I really like how this season instead of building a big mega base that causes procrastination and burnout you're building a bunch of small builds in one area to break a big intimidating project into smaller pieces.

Such delightful snails, they bring me joy whenever they show up!

This build makes the Drege inspo very obvious. It looks great!

Y'know, this season I've started watching a few people I've never watched before, and it's really been a blast, I can't believe I've missed out on this experience for all these years. And it all started with watching Gem cause I saw her in Etho's decked out videos and really loved her personality, I really have missed out on her before! But hey! Better late than never, right?

I'm in love with this season, i know that maybe it won't last for long, but this little medium builds, full of lives are just fantastic, and i'm really finding myselft to enjoy them more that a megabase

I love the way you organically built the "research place" and I love your dockside village! I really enjoy the way this season is going with everyone taking it easy and doing more building on screen. I think you should move the pickle farm to this area Gem! That way it given the base another redstone-y feel, more "modern"/"automated"

A few allays out at the research station could help you pick up the coral as you mine it. Plus they're your research assistants!

When will the Snails post their episodes of Hermitcraft?

If you’re going for something where people in your area may have tampered with the electrical you could still use leads as tangles around the connections. btw, I live on the Texas coast. There is a HUGE electrical pole in my back yard. Not the regular sized one you see along the road. A BIG one. In the summer it gets incredibly hot and humid. We can go without rain for weeks sometimes. The salt from the gulf builds up on the electrical bits on the pole and it will buzz and sometimes spark. So the sparks on your poles are a detail that I experience irl.

An entire episode dedicated to people coming over is such a fun idea ❤😂

now that I think about it allays wondering around with droppers dropping stuff for them to ferry ever now and again is a great way to add life to a build! also stay safe gem!
