No it was part of a set hornby did for the flying scotsman, I think late 80's early 90's. I picked it up at a toy fair on it's own for a few quid late 90's. Now sells for £60+ . Have seen one sell for over £100. Nice but I wouldn't pay that much for one. Atb Graham

With regards to your cross over,,fit a dpdt switch across your track feed for the cross over ,and switch at the same time as you switch the points,, The crossover will need insulated joiners on each ends of all rails , (eg 8 number),,, Great layout,

Yep I do know I could do that but don't really want to remove it now as it is well set in the landscape. Will have to to put on insulated rail joiners which means removal. Insulation is working fine for me now. Cheers 👍🙂

Call it St George’s cross ,when I was a on the railway a lot of steam specials had a diesel at the rear it will help propel your train out of the bay and is in the Rule book for safe entry onto an active mainline All the best Mark 😊😊

What is it exactly that is not celebrated enough then and why? What are you celebrating in the first instance? In fact, having researched a little of what its origin is I discovered that he was George of Lydda, a Roman Praetorian Guard who would not recant his Christian faith and so was put to death. He became one of the most venerated saints and megalomartyrs in Christianity, and he has been especially venerated as a military saint since the Crusades. He is respected by Christians, Druze, as well as some Muslims as a martyr of monotheistic faith. This was all back in April 303AD and has absolutely nothing to do with England. What's there to celebrate? Unless you think the subsequent mass murdering during the Crusades in the name of Saint George and religion or the mythical story of dragon slaying is a cause for celebration! I cannot find any reason to celebrate whatsoever! Please help me out here with an answer as I am probably just ignorant in not understanding your passion for it, thank you.

Haven't got a dcc 9f. Would a P2 do. Plenty of merry go round wagons, but where's all the people on the heritage run gonna sit. 😁 👍

Graham, if you are having a problem with the hunt, coupling send Chris an email, and they might be able to give you a better solution.

OK will ask them what they have to offer next time I see them at a show. But still having mix results with them at present. Thanks 👍

All the couplings have problems when pushing backwards except the Kadees! I don't rate the Hunt couplings; they're expensive, brittle and no good for heavy rakes as they separate on S bends.

It's a thought, but did they do that in the 80's Barry. As my heritage runs are still based on 80's running. I thought that was a modern thing as they had trouble years ago with steam engines breaking down and throwing the network into chaos. But I could be wrong as I'm far from an expert on steam running on the mainline in the 80's. Cheers 👍 Graham 🙂

@@WHP1980s Not sure or if not could you do a double header with another steam engine. I'm glad you mentioned Hunt couplings because I invested in a couple of sets for my Bachmann Mk1's but have had a couple of issues and thought it must be me!!
