Neat thing to note if you haven't made the maelstrom video, scrap launcher + power mode can trick the game into thinking you have 4 charges if you end power mode (it doesn't show visually but you can use it 4 times)

Each stride is 3 seconds... that's 36 seconds of just sitting there floating around. It also has an issue when you hit a launch pad then use it where you moment just stays and you just drift off into space so imagine 36 seconds of just floating up.

I was Mul-T with 4 strides and a tone of Atg and Missile Fuel cells So I just camped as I shat out rockets for an hour

Hellfire Tincture is absolutely nuts on the Heretic. 1- The damage is based off your maximum health, something the Heretic has in spades 2- You can dive into a crowd of enemies, pop the Tincture, and then Shadowfade to heal yourself while the burn damage continues to trigger on the enemies.

Yeah I love that combo with just strides on anyone

Don't get wake of voltures as the lunar heretic because the moon elites you kill will turn your hp into shield and you'll die instantly because it doesn't negate the negative HP regen like the transcendence. I lost two god runs because of that.

They fixed it in the bugfix update :D

It's kinda cool how the heretic is just a massive bulky stat stick and is partially good because of it

Also note rejuv rack is a must have. Paired with a few harvesters and leech seeds and you have an easy pool of health to gain.

Cautious Slug when not in combat, heals birdwife, but you need two of them to break even, and three for a painfully slow heal.

ah, yeah, purity would negate the longer cooldowns from picking multiple up, wouldn't it?

Ruin stacks on multiple enemies at once, so it is OP with the razorwire + Hellfire.

I feel like once you beat the game is heretic you should unlock it mostly cuz the only way to consistently get it just to mess around with it is to use artifact of command which takes a lot of the fun out of the game

Played Heretic for the first time earlier today, Rejuv rack isn't dangerous to use and in conjunction with Aegis along with a few healing items can entirely offset the constant damage.

I would love to see a mastery skin for heretic, which would automatically apply if you transform

Kur-skan is a beautiful bird and deserves all the hugs.

You can use cautious slugs to negate the negative hp regen. On easy get like 2-3 and you’re good.

When going for heretic Highly recommend you take Captain as your start ;) just to get yourself some free micobots and help speed along the first floor with your Buy-beacons :)

if you get a volcanic egg you can cancel the intangibility from strides by activating it c:

It's worth noting that the flight use item is bugged on heretic and will give you permanent flight for that level when you use it.

Little note about Strides of Heresy: N'kuhana's Opionion will proc while you're intangible because of the healing.

Actually... if you get the ammo belt that gives skill resets, you'll always want to stack the main attack item. even if the cooldown rises per item, a simple ammo pack will refresh it and fully fill it.

missed 80% of the stream so now I get to enjoy it in video form with no toddlers asking the mod

Never more is what the no ability is also, if you want to use lunar pool, grab shurikans, or some other alternative dps options

I got the Heretic items and immediately died from missing the entrance to the Void Fields lol. Feels bad man.

Transcendence stacked with enough strides of heresy to last 8 seconds makes this character even more broken, at that point you can keep attacking then blue beetles to get a CRAZY health pool and will have a panic button to regen in safety

strides of heresy is goated, 3 with transcendence means full heal when off cooldown

fun fact the woodsprite works relatively well for countering the negative hp regen

1:55 I think how the root work is: Charging it increase the range of the spell but it take the same time to reach the max range so if you just tap the spell the max range gonna be short but take the same time to reach the end making it barely moving

I was planning on doing a run where I picked a character and just used the heresy items, but now I'm gonna be a bird main

you an use equipment while using shadowfade, so depending on the run picking up more stacks of it could potentially be benefitial (since its just invincibility)

purity with birds primary and special is actually very busted, you can stack up to 100 stacks within a very short amount of time also transendence not only massively boots her hp, it'll also neglect her passive debuff, meaning you can also do drug on top of her making her insanely overpowered

I would take only 1 purity to erase the cooldown of Vision while keeping a decent proc chance. Second a bility with a few spare clips is a great stacker too afetr all, and gotta use that high base damage for REALLY nasty procs that can also spread stacks on multiple enemies (like the Ukulele).

The negative health regen is a plus. scales well with razors. i used spinel tonic while in the utility. just drain anyone who nearby.

The first run I tried Heretic I got 7 irradiant pearls and I stopped at stage 30 with 50K HP It was an insanely good god run.

You can actually activate Q items while in the strides effect

Use the crowd funder and the broken crown. Then you can stack the ethereal form, while still being able to attack.

Ik this video is a little old but I recommend 2 Strides of Heresy. 6 seconds of pure healing is nice, and you can still deal damage through tesla coils and mired urns. Also, it can be cancelled with volcanic egg

I just played this character last night and I got a Transcendence item. My HP stayed at 1 and my shield didn't drain. So you can play like normal and build an HP regeneration build and it will keep your shield full. Pretty fun to play without the fear of hp drain.

things you didnt mention: if you kill a perfected eliet with wake of vultures you instantly die, so if any of the mithrix phase 2 lunar chimera are perfected you are pretty much softlocked. ALSO dont know why nobody ever talks about survivor sizes but the heretic has a massive hitbox. she can barely fit in small places or dodge lesser wisps.

the negative health regen is nullified by like 2-3 cautious slugs (of course you need more as time goes on but if you make it past like loop 2 you're probably in a god run and healing is unimportant)

Cautious slug which boosts regen can actually negate the constant Hp loss. Get 2-3 of them and you are good.

As a person that has unintentionally mained the heretic... pain

Tried a Heretic run with rejuv rack and corspebloom. Yeah I think the rejuv wrack does speed up the self-bleed BUT the combo with that and corpsebloom means you can easily sulf sustain by just hitting shift off cooldown - honeslty rejuv rack might not be necessary with bloom. Looped to find an aegis and i felt invincible.

Rejuvenation rack and corpse blossom trivializes the health loss, thats what I did on my run. They couldn't hurt me

Transcendence plus heretic is busted too, completely gets rid of the negative health regen

If you pickup too many shape glass you can't out heal the self-damage and die in a matter of minutes/seconds.

you can stack purity and nkuhana/little disciple, then just spam shadowfade for infinite i-frames while everything dies

Just got my first monsoon win with heretic, she is actually OP. The only downside is that you have to get all the heresy items (which is is easy if you have a bunch of lunar coins). Oh and not being able to unlock the alternate skin for the survivor that turns into the heretic.

I did the math and having a gnarled wood sprite at level 6 and above will negate the negative regen

Why are we ignoring that the bazaar had this dudes body parts and the artifacer in frozen time? 🤔

Two slugs totally negate the negative regen, so just picking two of those up will make your downside not exist.

Engineer + bungus + strides of heresy As long as your turrets don't die you still have most of your firepower while being invincible Loss of bubble shield is irrelevant, obviously. Loss of harpoons is slightly less irrelevant.

i think i was just unlucky with the movement speed items but i was sitting on 4k hp or so, out of 4500, cause the negative health regen, and got hit by a frozen golem laser for 4.2k, if i were any other survivor i would have survived cause otk protection but the negative health regen fucked me up :c

She also gets an innate triple jump cause birb.

The only time I got a heretic item I hated it because it was on loader and replaced the charged punch which wasn’t that good

The high health of the *Heretic* you have to remember is a _downside,_ it's all about low max hp and high regen so you can get that sweet sweet *One-Shot-Protection.* *Strides* has great utility and shout really be thought of as such, just need to be smart about using it I suppose, being able to fly's also p cool. *Ruin* really isn't that great, especially on *The Heretic,* though this'll need more testing it seems to rely on proc coefficient for it to be applied, so with *Slicing Maelstrom's* 0.2 proc on hit you're not going to get many off with that, maybe with the 1.0 proc on it's explosion if you can aim it well, but still that's only 1 stack. *Hungering Gaze* has it a bit better but you'd have to actively stop yourself from killing enemies and know how to judge how much damage the follow up explosions do as the shot has a 0.1 proc chance but on explosion it has a 1.0. You can get a little more out of it with *Will-O'-The-Wisps* with it's 1.0 proc coefficient. The damage and speed are the real breadwinners here, and *Maelstrom* if you get good with it. She's good against bosses but not great with any sort of crowd. Love her to bits though I'm a sucker for heresy and religious themes.

Blazing enemy bumps you destroying your low HP runs... same with any overloading enemies. You have so much HP that you have innate 1-shot protection as Heretic and an ability to heal it all back with a button.

The only problem I have with Heretic is that it feels like he scales so much worse with items then any other Survivor. The base stats are great and it's nice that he works so well with Lunar items but that's about it. Most of the other characters scale so much better it feels like. For someone who only loops once at most it isn't a big deal but for me part of the fun of RoR 1 and 2 is those multi hour god runs.

Do you keep passives? Also what is this message at the end of the run when you escape as the heretic?
