Actually, in my country, when the album was released, Escape got heavy rotation on radio stations.

For me, it's Metallica's 3rd best behind AJ4A& MoP. When you say Metal, if you mean Thrash, then you're definitely right. I'd put in 7-10 in my top 10thrash, but if you mean just Metal, for me that muddies th water too much! I have to think about those old Sabbath, Dio, Priest, Savatage, etc, etc..records & it makes by brain hurt! Thrash Metal though, easy top 10!🍻

Fight fire with fire is still my number one favorite song considering I was born in the early 70's and grew up in the height of fear of an all out nuclear attack 😣😥😮😰😲🤤😨😵😱💀☠

Bro, one of the best double bass lines by Lars. Most people think of One but this line has so much consistency needed and is much more prevalent than in One. Also it’s basically a drum solo at the same time.

You can't really go wrong with anything from this album, but yes... Great song. For me. Creeping death is my personal favorite. Die, by my hand as I creep across the land killing first born man. This whole album is a masterpiece.

it was only just over a year ago, i’m 15 years old, and the first songs i heard from Metallica were in this order: Enter Sandman, Master of Puppets, then Fight Fire With Fire. Like, i mean enter sandman and master of puppets were absolutely amazing, but when i heard fight fire with fire i was absolutely mindblown. that song was the first really thrash metal song i wver heard. fight fire with fire still gets me today in terms of it’s raw power and thrashiness.

i think its the guitars. the guitars make me picture a piece of metal being dragged across concrete.

I somehow talked my mom into buying this cassette for me when I was in junior high. I put this cassette in my radio - that had a deck. I was so disappointed for the first 15 seconds. Now probably my favorite album of all times.

Alex! Something to keep in mind when reviewing this album: Ride the lightning ('84), Master of puppets ('86), and ...And justice for all ('88) form a trilogy of sorts. On each album the first song starts with a calm but misleading instrumental before blasting away 100mph (Fight fire..., Battery, Blackend). After this each album has a lengthy, kick-ass title track (6min, 8min, 10min). The fourth song on each album again starts slowly, kind of sounds like a ballad at first, but then speeds up towards an impossible guitar solo at the end (Fade to black, Sanitarium, One). On an LP (vinyl) format these songs are the last ones on the A-side of the album (Justice might have been a double LP, so in that case last track on the B-side). Also, each album contains an instrumental (Call of Ktulu, Orion, To live is to die) that's among the longest on the album (9min, 8min, 10min). Some additional things to point out. Master of puppets and Justice both finish with some of the fastest songs in the bands catalog (Damage Inc., Dyers Eve), while Ride the lightning ends with the instrumental. Ride the lightning and Master of puppets have tracks that are clearly about the Cthulhu mythos (Call of Ktulu, The thing that should not be), whereas Justice has not. Also, the first two albums have a perfect number of songs (8), but Justice has an unpleasant number of 9. All amazing tracks though! Anyway, cheers! Keep up the good work! ps. Something for us metal historians to keep in mind: Iron Maiden made a "trilogy" of their own with Powerslave ('84), Somewhere in time ('86) and Seventh son of a seventh son ('88). The last album being the most progressive of the bunch, same with Metallica. I think it's safe to say that both bands were in their creative peak at this time.

This album is the most atmospheric sounding one they've done and it's fun as hell to play on guitar. It's got great emotion and really rockin' riffs. Every song has its own feeling and it's just a great masterpiece. It's fun watching you react and I'm craving the next one. Enjoy, Alex.

I relive these albums with you! You just took me back to the mid 90s where I first picked up this album which changed everything I knew about music. Thank you for letting me experience the first listen all over again.

I'll never forget about 10 years ago, I gave my middle school dance DJ the CD to Ride The Lightning and had him play this song to prank the school and everyone left the dance floor, (Oh well, their loss). A memory my friends and I will never forget! 😂😂

My favourite metallica album. Has the most melodic and most feeling songs without being tooooo technical but still epic. Riffs are incredible and kirks solos are spot on. Every song is epic and ktulu is by far my favourite instrumental

I always loved in the chorus how the guitars would be doing the "fight fire with fire" along with James, then again on the outro. One of my favorites off the album.

I was 11 or 12 when I first heard this album. My brother picked me up at school and put this cassette in and said tell me what you think. I was blown away when this song kicked into high gear

One of my favourite tracks . Always was a fan of the heavier stuff they put out. Ride the Lightning , Master of puppets, disposable hero's , Fight Fire with Fire , Battery , Dyers Eve, Shortest Straw , One, Blackened , you name it lol can't get enough of these tracks . There so epic

I have been a fan since the garage days..i was blessed to be able to meet Club Burton in Charleston,WV in 1986 when they opened for OZZY it was the best concert I've ever Been too. Clif was a great guy..he is missed to this day

So much for being back “tomorrow” with the next song. Or the next day!!
