I did 2 back and forth road trips with the 2006 Quest from Miami, FL to Scottsdale, AZ and it was a blast.

Yeah, the design cues of this thing are decidedly renault inspired, and considering they`re largely owned by renault (and most nissans since the early 2000s share platforms and parts with them) I`d be genuinly surprised if this thing isn`t basicly a renault espace underneath (it certainly looks reminiscent of one, inside and out. Hopefully it has more reliable electrics though)

Hoovie is actually a pretty good salesman. I can see how he used to sell used cars. He glossed over all the mechanical issues with it and instead sold us on the ridiculous point that a Nissan Quest is as luxurious as a Range Rover. Can’t lie I was pretty impressed with the minivan...

For $70k in 2008, definitely not. For $90k in ~2015, probably not. For $113k base, and then $210k for the Nismo in 2020, yeah it's a hilarious joke. Then there's the interior, here's what the best possible staged press photo of it looks like even after a major refresh to make it more luxurious: www.nissanusa.com/vehicles/sports-cars/gt-r/features/interior.html I've sat in one in real life and I can promise you this is its best face. That center stack and infotainment look like they came off the 2nd-highest shelf at Circuit City for $400 (yes I'm a bit old, so is the GTR), and the back is just a featureless greasy hard plastic tub with 2 "leather-appointed" seats. The fit-and-finish on the rear speaker surround is just...eew, it's so crooked and I could probably stick a finger in that gap. If this were the top trim level on my 2016 Honda Fit, it wouldn't be acceptable. I'm sure it was great for $70k in 2008, but now it's outclassed. Do you want 2.9s 0-60, or low 3s but a far better car in every other way? Most buyers in this segment and price range prefer the better car even if it's a few tenths slower. Nissan moved 538 GTRs in 2018, so good luck finding any sort of used value on the refreshed model either. A 3-year-old Audi R8, on the other hand, is a much more luxurious, cutting-edge, well-built car at the same starting price as a new GTR, it's mid-engine, it's got plenty of trunk space just like the GTR, and reliability and maintenance costs are roughly the same. It's 0.3s slower, but you won't notice, and it's the sharper handler. I know, I've driven (though not owned) both. The GTR is basically to supercars (or high-end sports cars) what the Mitsubishi Mirage is to economy cars: it's competing with used cars, and it's not winning because it's about 25% too expensive for the compromises it makes. A value proposition in this segment has to be an INCREDIBLY good value. I know seeing everyone dismiss everything in this segment for the C8 Corvette even though they'll never have the money to look at any of them is getting tiring, but that really is what a successful supercar killer has to be. It's what the GTR was, 12 years ago.

Also, it's (the C8) kinda what the first-gen NSX was too, the new NSX pretty much forgot about what the first-gen was meant to be. Tl;dr, Honda basically did in the early '90s what GM is doing currently.

Only miss out on a little storage and head room if you don't take seats out first but plenty large enough and the plywood lays level. The engine makes this thing take of very well considering the weight and it's still good on gas for the size. Fantabulous. :D

Awesome review video. Just bought my wife a 2005 quest for $2950. It’s fully loaded the interior was immaculate and exterior had minor scuffs here and there. The guy I bought it from said the mileage was at 150,000 but couldn’t tell for sure and was guessing the mileage based on the age of the vehicle because the lcd screen that showed the mileage went out. So $20 bucks on eBay a week later and a quick KZread search I replaced the screen in about 30 minutes. Turned on the van and come to find out the mileage was only 75k. Talk about a steal!

I'm a minivan enthusiast among other things, because of the extreme practicality. Seeing a first-generation Chrysler makes me amazed (especially one that has the 4-speed automatic). A glimpse of a Mazda MPV (the truck one) gives me a little thrill. Buick Terrazas and Saturn Relays inspire a thrill of horror (pig snout vans).

I know of another pretty quirky van: the 2008-2010 Chrysler Town & Country. Sure the outside shape looked very bland and boring, but on the inside, it had a never before seen feature known as Swivel ‘N Go, which made it so that the front two captain’s chairs swivel backwards to face the third row and a table can be mounted in the middle. This is similar to the feature that the Toyota Previa had, except slightly better because of leather seats and a table. And this very unique feature was very short lived because no one bought it because the captains chairs were so big that they could not stow like Stow ‘N Go, and they were so heavy that they were impossible to remove and they barely fit out the side doors. So for 2011, not only were the SOHC(3.8 or 4.0L V6) family of engines replaced with the Pentastar(3.6L V6) family of engines, but also Swivel ‘N Go was dropped, never to be heard of again, and also the Sirius Satellite TV for the rear seat entertainment system was dropped due to lack of subscriptions because streaming services and on board internet were on the rise. And if you do buy one of these as your next van, make sure you get 4.0 V6, because my mom had an ‘08 that had a 3.8 in it and it blew up and after or maybe less than 50,000 miles

Picked up a 2000 Dodge Grand Caravan ES for $1000 a few years ago and slowly feel in love with it. Leather seats, leg room for days, drove like a car, fantastic visibility, easy to spit out the window without hitting the car, v6 power, decent gas mileage, tons of cargo and camping room and because of the large interior space, made a excellent audio environment. Inifinity stereo was stock. Didn't even mind being stuck in traffic because the sound was SO good. Best $1k I ever spent.

We keep discovering more about our 04 Quest every month or so. What a vehicle! Now I know I am not crazy! We got it for 4100.00 with 89000 miles on it. We have 155k on it now and have put in plenty of repairs to keep it going, but what a vehicle! Thanks for pointing out a fun way to use the 3rd row seats. We just bought a 2017 Quest with 45k on it. Thankfully, we found out the transmission was already replaced with a new one and the warranty from Carvana is already replacing a motor mount an touching up a paint scratch for us. Almost 20k for this one, but hopefully it gives us a good 2nd car. But, it is higher and harder for my wife to get into. The 2017 ride is very luxurious though and the Bluetooth is very welcome for phone calls and Spotify streaming. This one has cloth seats and they have some plastic framework under them that pinches the edges and wears them down a bit and it will pinch your bottom if you are not centered. Seams comfortable once you are situated, however. The 04 also seems to have WAY more storage and mid seat leg room! I think the seat fold down in a better way on the 04 also, but haven't fully checked that out.

We used to have this van! I thought it was cool. It has the dvd player, wireless headphones, roomy, and comfy! It also seemed really safe, cuz it had so many airbags. There were some problems. The oil pan rusted, the brake rotors warped, drivers side window goes back down if closed too far, the a/c won't work at low speed, and the exhaust began spewing out "black hair" (I think it was a material from the muffler). The cloth seats also hurt my dad's back, and the base stereo system is lame. Maybe two times, after driving for a while on the highway, when we parked and idled the van for the a/c it nearly overheated. If you buy a Nissan Quest, be cautious about the fuel gauge at first. Sometimes the fuel level sensor will report the wrong fuel reading, and you could run out of fuel while it says you have plenty of fuel. There is an optional recall if you have this problem.

I never realized how funky the car was until they replaced it with an Explorer. I took my drivers test in it and proceeded to borrow the car for a fair amount of high school shenanigans, hopefully unbeknownst to my parents. A truly great minivan but an awful choice for a new driver as it was just too easy to jam all my friends in and drive around.

5 speed autos on the quests, maximas and altima SE-R's like to shit valve bodies every once and awhile. like anything nissan related there's an aftermarket for it though, you can get a better unit from Level 10 transmissions. still cheaper than a Range Rover though im sure.

This van brings back memories lol. In 2007, my 8-year-old miniature car enthusiast self convinced my mom & dad to buy one of these after I saw some commercials for it and thought it looked really cool. They were looking to get rid of our '96 Explorer XLT which was riddled with problems, and after doing some online research with them they decided a van would be pretty practical to have. We only had it a year, mom thought it was too big and couldn't maneuver it very well, and it too had issues with the transmission as well as a few other minor things in the less than 35k miles we drove it. However I do miss those comfy seats, and also enjoyed sitting in the 3rd row with the second row captain's chair folded down for room to stretch (it was excellent on road trips). It's sad though seeing Nissan coming up with good ideas for cars, but failing so poorly on the execution when it comes to reliability and other development issues - but I'm glad this car was able to leave a positive & lasting impression on my childhood haha.

Probably both camshaft position sensor error and crankshaft position sensor error for the check engine light. The timing chain tensioner on these early 3.5's were weak. $2,000.00 out the door at Omega. $4,000.00 total of car. Then transmission slips. Another $2,000.00 at the transmission shop. Car was $4,000.00. These two problems will be $4,000.00 to fix. This is how much he paid for it. The Quest is a garbage car.

Hugely practical but they were more fisposaible than a Gillette razor French plastic, French electrics and engines that left the factory with known engineering flaws. It's a wonder anyone still buys Renault's at all.

HEY!! I’ve got a 2011 Quest SL. Bought preowned from Nissan as a employee lease in 2015. It’s fantastic!! Leather, power everything, no sunroof bc I have the DVD system. Nissan specifically built the van 3” taller so when the DVD screen is down u can still see out the back window. Seats fold flat. HUGE cargo room, larger than a large suv. AND has a well in the back that I can put 2 sets of golf clubs inside and still hav a flat floor. LOWER lift opening than a SUV plus the dashboard is all from infinity. The CVT is great, no jerky gear shifts. It tows. It carries kids and c;ap. It’s the perfect vehicle. And it’s not ugly. The “slab sides” make for better shoulder and headroom. The lazy boy bucket seats r HUGE and wide. I’ve got 215k rolling on this beauty. Just do your maintenance and it’ll do 400k easy.

I bought a 2002 sentra GXE 1.8L Automatic in 2008 for 4k cash from an old man 67000 miles. He bought the car new from Nissan dealership in Scottsdale, AZ so no rust at all. It has now arounds 258000 same engine and transmission, only been changing Tires brakes and fluids, regular maintenance stuff. Love that car drove it from Denver to Maine, Vermont, RI Boston and New york 5 times, 2 times to DC a few times to San Diego couple times to Seattle and recently towed a mid size uhaul trailer from Providence, RI to Denver helping a friend move. its a great car if you dont care for looks or speed. Car is great on gas and it gets the job done! I also own a $600 previa great van LOL Thanks
