I wouldn't make the trade, brand new Bronco the in thing right now in exchange for an old wrangler. I've heard the 2024 wrangler is going to get a refresh so at least it will have all the new electronic gizmos the Bronco has, that would be a worthy trade. It would also give TFL the opportunity to showcase all the new stuff. You know the biggest complaint with the Wrangler is that it wanders down the highway, lane keep assist might make it a lot more pleasant. It will also probably get a similar camera setup to the Bronco.

@@jeffk464 but what you don’t seem to understand is that they are going to be using the vehicle as a camera car, recovery car, and they’re going to bash it on some tight trails, one which everyone in the company can drive. And as they explained, they did everything possible with the Bronco. And financially it wouldn’t make sense to hold out for a new Wrangler.
Looking forward to visiting you guys in April!
I owned a 2016 AEV JK350 and this video makes me miss it terribly! I can not say enough good things about that Jeep. I think $34k is a very reasonable price for the value of what you get. Look forward to seeing it in future videos.
This is hilarious. Last Friday I bought a 2018 JK Wrangler Golden Eagle. Two door, manual. Why? Partly because of re-watching all your Jeep content over the past 8 years or so. Drove 450 miles to get it and 450 home. Love it for all the reasons you just mentioned in this video. Price wise, paying $35K CAN for an as new rig that has never seen a dirt road let alone off road and has only 18K miles, leaves me thinking that I did OK. Thanks TFL for all you do. Education and entertainment all in one place. ✌
I think it's definitely a great reason for the trade-off, but I'll miss the Bronco! I'm looking forward to seeing the gnarlier terrain in your videos in the future.
Cool jeep! I like how you guys are always mixing up your fleet. I wouldn't mind one some day. I have lots of trails and logging roads around me that I enjoy traveling and watching wildlife.

Good choice, just don’t lie to everyone. The bronco unfortunately isn’t as strong off-road as ford said it would be. People in Utah keep breaking them. I was happy the bronco was making a comeback. The raptor looks to fix a lot of the problems that have been found.
Last but not least it's amazing seeing how you grown up Tommy you truly are a spitting image of your father. Stay safe and warm y'all and have a blessed day
Smart buy, basically the same one I made a couple years ago with my low mile built JKU. You will have to likely replace the oil cooler and will have to keep an eye on the diffs/axles if those actually haven’t been beefed up at all. Still those additional costs down the road are nothing compared to the $$$ saved up front.

I think the channel would of did better with customizing the bronco than an old outdated jeep. So many channels are doing Jeeps but not to many doing broncos. Sad
Nice Jeep. I've owned 5 Jeeps since 1997. 2 TJ's, 1 JKR, 1 JKS, and my current JLUR. I'll have to admit that I didn't like either of the JK's as much as my TJ's and I know I'm going to catch some smoke for this, but my JLUR is by far the best Jeep I've owned.
Still have a difficult time comprehending vehicle prices compared to ten years ago. This truly is the new norm. With that being said, when you look how that jeep is equipped, you really did get an excellent deal. Awesome find! I'm really looking forward to future episodes as you guys test the full capabilities of this jeep.

Wrangler are everywhere!!!!…. Love to See other broncos. The front lights are beautiful and the ride is great.
I just love the FACT that you are USING a JEEP as a RESCUE Vehicle! I have pulled several Broncos out of trouble with my 2020 Grand Cherokee Hemi V8 Trailhawk that is still STOCK but I can keep up with the Rubicon Wranglers.
I’m surprised at the low mileage. Hard to find jeeps at that price with low miles. I think it’s a great pick up. Especially the AEV set up. I’m jealous of the cage. Gotta get one for mine. I can’t remember if they came with upgraded skid plates or not plus engine/trans skid

@@jeffk464 Nothing against Bronco, it’s a fantastic off roader, but the Jeep is the most loved one… One video talking about Jeep gets 10 times more views than any other vehicle. I have 2021 Rubicon, I know it’s not the fastest, I know it’s not the most comfortable, the fuel economy is horrible but I love this vehicle. Actually it’s my 4th Wrangler. The Wrangler is a “Lego” for big boys.
I think it’s a great trade for the purpose of the channel. I bought my son a 2016 JKU Rubicon with just about all of the AEV gear yours has, but his is white and is doing the whole “storm trooper “ thing with it, and it’s a very capable vehicle. With 77k miles, picked it up for 30k even.
As a JK Wrangler owner I'm excited to see the "new" addition to the stable.
i got my 2021 jeep wrengler with mods already for 40k and it only had 9k mile. ive had for 1 month and have it up to 13k now and im loving it so much!
I’m still a little confused about the motive for the switch? Because the Bronco is too expensive a vehicle for the off-roading you’re planning? But it’s designed for that.

Whenever I think about investing in an offroad vehicle, I watch that everyman driver vid, when he got stuck in a pond plated with thick ice. That was the video that sold me for getting an offroad vehicle.
Wow "synthetic lights"........ fancy 🙂
Tommy NEEDS to look at this video: 26 Hemi Jeep Gladiator On 40s: Can It Conquer This Trail (i.e. The Story Til Now channel) to see a great example of what the TFL Jeep is TRULY capable of and then TAKE THIS JEEP on a BIG ROAD TRIP to one or more of North Carolina (Nantahala Forest area), to Washington State coast mountains, to southwestern British Columbia high mountains or to Western Alberta and/or to High Peaks Wilderness or Five Ponds Wilderness in Vermont, anywhere north of Craig's Lake Forest in northern Michigan (i.e. Upper Penninsula) ....OR... drive the MYSTERIOUS Allagash Wilderness 4x4 roads in Maine! This would be a GREAT set of videos to make! Just remember to mount GoPros running at 1080p at 120 fps on front, back and both sides out to 20 TB hard drives to capture all the great natural landscape views plus some local wildlife AND maybe even some of those elusive cryptids called Bigfoot or Dogmen! Just about every all terrain tire out there is better than a KO2. KO2s require tire rotations like every oil change or they will cup badly. They are super noisy on the road and I’ve seen many mud terrain’s that are quieter. Ik lots of people that used KO2s and hated them. I recommend Falken Wildpeak A/T3W to anyone that wants offroad capability and great on road performance. They don’t cup unless you never rotate them and they are extremely quiet on road and they kill the KO2 in wet performance and winter conditions

With every video Tommy is slowly turning more and more into Roman. Unreal.
The Bronco humbled by an AEV JK. My day is complete. I hope Dave Harriton is watching.
I picked up a 2010 JK Wrangler Rubicon with 58k miles for 21k in NY, yeah it has a 3.8, but it is spotless, was obviously garaged, and cared for properly, as it does not have a spot of rust, engine bay spotless, and in NY ! And looks better than my 2016 JKU 75th Anniversary Edition.
For Tommy: Do lookup DARPA SHAPE SHIFTING WHEELS which turn from ROUND into Triangular-shaped snowmobile-like TRACKS at the touch of a button and back again to a Round shape with another button-touch. You guys can get one of your local builders to CNC machine your own or buy them directly from a DARPA (Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency) contractor. Since they were U.S. government-developed, they are public property and you can get CAD/CAM plans at a relatively CHEAP cost and machine them yourself. You can also contact DARPA itself and get an in-person driveable demo (i.e. usually installed on a Humvee!) from one of the local Army or USMC bases! Shape-Shifting wheels are the NEWEST WAY to get through all sorts of soft snow, ice, mud and sand. I also suggest you get a GREAT CAD/CAM artist to see if you can design and build retractible PUSH-THROUGH steel studs (i.e. half-inch diameter steel rods) that come in and out of holes drilled into the rubber tracks themselves so you can get through the gnarliest of icey and snow terrain. The tracks/wheels are actually a 2 inch thick belt of standard tire rubber with a good 3-peak winter-rated M/T tread design on them that are supported by a six-piece articulated hydraulic frame and piston mechanism that goes into multiple shapes from round wheel to triangular track shape. Press a button when needed and the steel studs come out through the tracks just like Cat Claws and another button-press they retract into the shapeshifting wheel infrastructure for on-road driving. Make sure the retractible steel studs work in ROUND wheel shape mode and in the Triangular-Track-shaped mode! Put these onto the Jeep, on the RAM 1500 or even on a Dodge Grand Voyager Minivan just for kicks to see what happens to off-road performance using DARPA Shape Shifting Wheels! If we can get MORE of the truck manufacturers to look at these types of DARPA SHAPE SHIFTING WHEELS and put them on modern trucks/SUVs and also sell them as refit-kits for older vehicles, we can bring futuristic multi-terrain 4x4/off-roading INTO THE HERE AND NOW !!! V
The best i can do is a dollar and a bag of skittles
Just drove one the other day and there just wasn’t enough room in front for me at 6’3”. I was sitting with my knees in dash with seat all the way back. My 87 Jeep by AMC had more room. But I got a new Bronco last week that is very comfortable
Had a 2 door Bronco. I broke both half shafts. Driver side twice. When the motor failed, i let Ford replace it under warranty but when the trans shit the bed, I had them replace it and I sold it a week later. Literal junk.
In 2021 I bought a 2017 JK with low miles (36,000) for $35,000, and I couldn’t be happier with it. I have driven it though narrow canyons in the Mojave Desert that I think the Bronco would be too wide to go through.
I get the explanation. Yet I don't. Guess I'm not the Jeep fan TFL seems to be. What I would have liked to have seen is them picking up a new or lightly used current year Nissan Frontier and build it out.
Anyone who puts Mickey Thompson Tires on their 4x4 IS A TRULY HARDCORE off-roader! They are expensive but WELL WORTH IT! I've bought a few in the past and they worked wonders for older 4x4 vehicles in mud, snow, ice, soft sand, loose gravel and big rocks. I highly recommend them for Jeep Gladiator Rubicon builds. You can get away with 40 inch Mickey Thompson tires on the Gladiator if you do a high enough lift with the KING-brand Liquid Suspension shocks package which are one of my favourites. The KING shocks are GREAT for 35 inch, 37 inch and 40 inch tires on Jeeps! Look up "The Story Til Now" channel which has great examples of the SEVERE types of off-road terrain you can go on with multiple high-end tire types! SPEND the money on REALLY good tires! BF Goodrich KO2's are NOT the be-all and end-all of tires. Lookup Goodyear Duratracs, anything from Mickey Thompson, Nitto Ridge Grappler and Nitto EXO Grappler. Those are getting into TRUE M/T tires designed for the most GNARLY of terrain! Anyways, this Jeep will be an AWESOME ADDITION to the TFL lineup ....AND.... I highly recommend a ROAD TRIP to the Nantahala National Forest lands in North Carolina and go right to the free-to-explore Bureau of Land Management roads that are right next door, in order to experience some GNARLY and RUGGED off-road terrain that may not be as high at Colorado, but is CERTAINLY just as rugged in terms of the off-road road conditions you can see. This means THE JEEP IS IDEAL for such a trip starting ANYWHERE between Rosman and going all the way EAST to the Tennessee border through some TRULY wild and lonely winding mountain roads and big off-road trails. Please also mount multiple GoPro Hero 11 cameras on the front, rear, left and right sides of the Jeep and record the entire trip at 1080p at 120-fps (frames per second) out to some USB-3 connected 20 terabyte hard drives ($300 USD) so that you can get CLEAR AND SHARP footage of all the deer, mountain lions and maybe even the elusive EASTERN BIGFOOT that is "known" to lurk in those woods! On google maps enter the below coordinate of the Eastern part of North Carolina so you UNDERSTAND what you can see trail-wise: 35.065882, -84.0991895 Mid-February to Early April is the PERFECT time to go because the roads are far less filled with people and the snow is mostly just 4 to 8 inch dustings at the top parts of some of the wildest territory around is available to be traversed and there are some GREAT campspots to test out the ability of the Jeep to hand the gnarliest of terrain! LOOK IT UP! V
Good choice, and actually a great price in today's market. 1. If you spend time on the highway, replace those hood latches. Sooner than later. 2. Though I agree with you on the nav system, it is known for beimg glitchy. 40gb HDD with barely 20gb available was a common problem, and they dontend to sketch out over time. Still, I love it and don't mind the flaws. But one more thing, ..."synthetic lights"?
Cracks me up how many people are doing exactly the same thing. Love my old Jeeps. Modified to the point where most of the parts are new.
Bronco's good, but the Jeep Wrangler is in a league of its own; it's the quintessential off-road 4x4.
Pretty sure 2016 was the last year for the first version of the 3.6 pentastar and that first version has a bunch of problems
I love my 16 JKU Rubicon. The AEV equpped rigs are awesome. I have their suspension but not all of the other AEV goodness.
Great pick on the JKU, I’ve wanted to see just how capable an AEV set up is, so I look forward to you guys testing it out as well. I’ll argue it’s more capable just by articulation alone, as well as stronger steering components. Tommy, you know you wanted a wrangler back in the TFL family…just admit it…hahaha

Yup. More articulation plus ground clearance. The shorter wheelbase definitely helps with crawling as well.

It was money well spent and saved. Maybe somebody the new Bronco will find it's way into my garage. But for now getting used JKU was the better use of my money.
Happy to see it! A 4 door JK in the mix is good for general comparison. Kinda wish it was a JL just so that it's relevant to today's standard.

We have the truth guys. My son loved his jeeps until he got his toyota 4 runner 2020. If you have FREE sponsors constantly FIXING your jeep ????? When you grow up and have 3 kids take a look at that. There is a Toyota waiting for you. I like you guys , but please clarify, did the business buy the jeep as a national business owner this makes a big difference. To normal people there is no value in the jeep. Old school , take out on the weekend , do 3,000 dollars damage , fix during the week and doing it again. Not throwing mud , As a upstate NY teen I used to road race my 57 black chevy , 55 chevy pickup, 67 chevy Camaro, and last not least 69 chevy Camaro convertible etc. I totaled all of them . Every time I think what they would be worth. Be well all.
Noooo bye bronco! Good luck selling it wish I could afford that bad boy, look forward to the content!
Selling the Bronco, under 10k miles, while demand is high is smart business because, after all TFL is a business. I owned a 2015 JKU Willys for almost seven years and going to a ‘22 Bronco was a huge difference, especially in transmission and driving experience. For their use case, it probably makes sense to go for a used vehicle that fulfills their requirements and that’s great, for their situation. Everyone may have similar use cases but most of us don’t have the same requirements as TFL. ✌🏼
If ford went retro and brought back the "Real" Bronco! They couldnt keep them in stock. I am a proud jeep owner. Bought a 14' wrangler unlimited sport. Did all my own mods to basically a rubicon. It was slightly less expensive this way.

I mean you could have filmed some videos teaching the new staff how to drive stick. Find out who's the better teacher among the TFL crew.
I feel better now on what I spent on my 2016 Rubicon Hard Rock.
Good call getting the JKU. I had a JLU, & I loved it, but it had one problem after another. I’m too practical & traded it; the galvanic corrosion was the last straw.
34K is cheap for that Jeep! I love the color.
That Jeep is a HELLUVA bargain from what you have shown. That is a LOT of stuff for 34K. 9 year old JK with all that gear/accessories that when new was 60+K lost nearly 1/2 its value one might say, but one never gets their value back from accessorizing. Costs to do all that now would be easily 40K. So, wow. TFL made a good deal there. IMO. Will be interesting to see how long it stays in the family. 😉 I would consider buying that thing with all that stuff on it for that amount of money and I don't even have a need for it. lol
You’re gonna love those Mickey Thompson tires
Very smart swap! I don't have a Jeep but I'm a huge fan of AEV. Their Chevy Colorado and Jeep parts are awesome.
The main reason I watched TFL was for the Bronco tests, comparisons, challenges, trips...goodbye.
Tommy that bronco is a Ranger in drag. People save your money and buy the Ford ranger fx4 and Add the Dana front housing with a locker.

Translation: “We gotta unload that Turkey before the engine blows up “
Did you guys upgrade the front tie rods at all? They are a common fail point...
I suspect the JKUR-AEV will be able to tolerate a bit more trail abuse than the Bronco. Big bonus is how many parts are floating around if needed. Does it have SpeedBump bump stops or something similar? That would really help it soak up the bumps and help the videographers get better footage.

I have always been a huge fan of TFL and still will but I REALLY wish you would keep and modify the bronco.
That's not a bad deal for that Rubi with all of its AEV goodies. I'm seeing similar stock Rubicons sell for that much around here. Also the Baja Boss AT has been my favorite AT so far. It's a little on the heavy side for ATs, but its been fantastic on my truck in all kinds of terrain.

You in a 3/4 or half ton? I've managed to get 70k miles with 2 rotations on a set of 10ply LR "E" nitto ridge grapplers, good tires but could be a little better in the snow forsure. Not sure if I wanna buy those again or try something else, I'd like something with the snow rating, see if I notice a different during winter times.
aka "we dont want to say its a bad offroaded to not lose ford's funding/help in the future... but the wrangle is what you need for real off-roading" 😂
Makes me eager to get back out on the trails in my 2007 JK. Off to wildlife refuge next to Big Bend National Park in March on trail harder than those in Big Bend. Plus it takes me to a former homestead of a cousin that is now a seldom used camp ground on the banks of the Rio Grande.
if there's one thing missing from TFL its Jeep content......
Mickey Thompsons are bulletproof! You WILL want to rotate the crap out of those babies though...they wear unevenly on the outside if not
The Uconnect system on the JKs is awful. I just upgraded my stereo to one that has wireless CarPlay and it's worth every penny.
A phrase comes to mind...out of the frying pan, into the fire.
Not bad, I got a 2013 AEV Jk with 60,000 miles for about 25K a couple years back
Do I get a discount for a KZread comment?
I have been having the Baja Boss ATs on my 2500 Ram Diesel for a year and a half now and they are amazing. Super quiet on road and has a lot of grip. I caught a flat on one and Mickey Thompson even covered part of it (they paid for part of my new tire) when they didnt have too. I highly recommend them.
