Saying you are getting tired of people saying it is too expensive is not a good argument. People say it is too expensive because it objectively is in relation to wages and spending power-->price increases have outpaced wage growth and corporate greedflation puts once obtainable products out of reach, and advocating for the fairness in this or even stifling the conversation doesn't hold companies accountable.

$8700 for a bed topper and a glorified tent is ridiculous.

The problem is the person who buys this isnt the person using this...just my opinion, this is to show off but never be used...NO ONE is going to sleep in that tent but also have an empty truck bed so you have to take out ALL that gear just to access the tent and sleep in it? Then it all goes where on the ground? nope...

I'm the original owner of a 1998 Taco SR5 TRD Off-Road, V6, 5-speed manual. The truck was built in March 1998 and is just over 26 yrs old now! It's still going strong with about 240k miles on it. It was essentially fully-loaded for a 1998 SR5. I paid $22,800 when I bought it. I will grant you that it doesn't have all the tech of the newer trucks....but I don't really care much about the new tech. It is rated to tow 5k lbs and haul around 1500 lbs. I use it all the time to tow and haul stuff (within it's rated capacities) as well as off-road (love living in Utah!). Unloaded I get 18-20 mpg, depending on season and traffic. I have long been considering getting a new truck for my daily driver. However, like many other people, I'm having a difficult time justifying the cost of new trucks. Personally, I'm going to wait and see what happens with prices over the next year or two (though they'll likely only go up....😟). As an aside, I'm not a cheapskate as my wife drivers a 2021 Wrangler Rubicon with an MSRP of $55K. I know new vehicles are expensive....ugh!
Nathan is right on. Appreciate him.
not too expensive based on year. too expensive based on what you get for the money.they are price gouging the trucks based on covid problems and you popular u-tube channels are our only voice to the dealers and manufacturers.

To answer your last question Nathan, yes I really like this live Q&A format! I just wish I would've gotten a notification (maybe I did and missed it, who knows) when you guys went live. I would've hopped on and asked a few questions for sure. I think this format will ultimately help the channel as well, because you'll get a sense of what people are thinking and wanting to know, ultimately leading to relevant content (not that what you do now isn't relevant). As far as everyone saying trucks are so expensive now. They are. But, you must consider everything. Think about how much more technology is put in a vehicle today compared to even 20 years ago! ADAS. Turbos. Hybrids. Airbags. Bigger displays. Better sound systems. Not to mention way more safe! So so much "stuff". The consumer demands more, so the manufacturers give it! You could also say government mandates also factor in. Fleet wide MPG numbers are rising, forcing manufacturers to go to smaller displacement engines with turbos, as well as hybridization. Inflation is also playing a big role, as people's dollar isn't going as far as it used to, and at the same time prices have gone up. So it's a double whammy and people are feeling the effects. Great video guys, keep it coming!
So Roman is “tired of seeing comments saying trucks are too expensive”. What are you going to say next - “Let them eat cake”?

Question: Obviously the camper top blocks both cameras above the rear window. Can you still see anything with them? Into the bed of the truck?
The 4wd definitely of this new Tacoma has me concerned, along with the overall price. Frankly I could get a ZR2 for same or less money that a well equipped TRD Off-road. It’s good to see various camping options, but I must say I’m not fond of the bed config on the GFC and how it’s accessed from within the truck bed. Looking forward to hearing your comments on it. Can’t wait to see more vids on the Bean trailers. Not cheap, but quality construction.
Manual option with the Ridgeline??? Tell me more.
What is the ride height now with the GFC on?
Great video guys, would love to one of Andre’s build and price videos going over the Ranger Raptor spec you have in order. Mine is built just waiting for it to ship. Dealer ETA on mine is late April. What is your dealer ETA?
Respectfully, I disagree with Roman’s frustration with the increased prices. Yes, everything has gone up in the past 5 years but there’s no denying the proportional increase in vehicle prices compared to other things like food increases is staggering. The new prices on vehicles is up over 20% and i don’t think there’s anything wrong with people noting that it’s simply not worth it. Coming from someone who sold my vehicle and went with a used 2014 Tacoma because new truck prices aren’t realistic for the average American. Love the videos but consumer frustration isn’t something to scoff at.

Most of it probably lies in that 4 1/2 years ago, most car dealerships offered cars at a discount over MSRP, sometimes considerably. But now, it seems like a bargain if you can get it at MSRP, with lots of dealers price gouging. If consumers would temper enthusiasm over the latest and greatest, and stop paying over MSRP or boycotting those dealerships, prices would come down. Maybe not like before, as they’ll claim there are still supply chain issues, etc. Maybe, maybe not. Seems a little like a cop out, but here we are…
It is expensive but I accept the prices as reality, pure and simple. That doesn’t mean I’ll line up for one today. In fact, I think it makes me more patient to see what else comes to market and really assess my needs long term. I used to like buying cars every three years or so, but those were different times. Cost aside, I’ll also be even more demanding of the manufacturer and value they provide. On another note, I’m very excited about the Ranger Raptor. At $55k-$60k, it’s a very intriguing option. It at least looks like a bunch of fun. I do like this approach to videos, TFL. I greatly enjoy you guys and what you do. Be well and carpe diem.
Nothing today justifies the price. Roman is right that this is the world we live in now and it sucks. Inflation has been insane. This truck in 2019 probably would go for under 40k back in 2019.
Cool video guys !!!
The Tacoma is a great looking truck. I think that I would go for the New Ranger in the XLT trim with Fx4 for the price

Nathan being a damp rag during the big reveal. Love the TFL team.
Well, I was not here for the live show, cause I never know when you might do it. Schedules help. Consistency helps. Having a live show once a week like you used to on a specific day and or time, more people can chime in and get maybe get answers to questions they don't get from the comment sections. Don't like canopies on trucks. Been done to death. Looks awful on that truck. IMO. I get it, you do it for free stuff and or sponsorships. But still. From a content perspective, it just has been done to death. Every truck does not need a canopy slapped on it. Not hating, just stating an opinion.

Love these camping builds. But I really love the ideal that you have a cheap roof top camping build coming. As I have a cheaper roof top tent on a smart cap on my power boost and I love it.
My paycheck did not go up anywhere near the cost increase in price. Ford and Chevy both priced me out of the new truck market. I am upgrading my existing vehicles. The new trucks are great performance wise. The price is a killer. I am not going to pay for the electric trucks with my purchase of a gas truck.
I’m on vacation in St. Lucia. Saw a Ranger Raptor in person - LOOKS AWESOME!
$45k, and no heated seats and a small touch screen. For 10k more you can have these features. My 23 Colorado Z71 has every option you could get, was only 46k and my differential hasn’t exploded. Toyota really screwed the pooch with this new Tacoma.

Like someone else on here said, I’m still getting paid a 2019 salary; my pay hasn’t gone up proportionately with inflation. What I had to do is buy a cheaper truck. My ‘23 Ranger XL 2WD was $32K & I’m simply doing without the extra comfort & fun stuff. As long as people continue to buy & lease vehicles at these ridiculous prices, the price is going to stay the same.
Really looking forward the Camper Corner segments!!
Besides the fact that all vehicles are expensive now... the tacoma is legitimately more than any other of the midsize trucks by at least 5k. I have heard of some 10k with dealer markups. This truck specifically is too expensive on top of the current vehicular prices.
No Roman, you are wrong about the price. Car companies, all of them have taken advantage of higher inflation to increase prices WAY over the inflation we have actually experienced in the economy. That's price gouging - just because they are ALL doing it doesn't make it justified - that was the viewers question. You are just adding to the problem by saying it's justified it just isn't. It's not just car companies, but they are amoungst the worst. Yes, they have had supply chain challenges (mostly of their own making by the way - especially Toyota). So fed up with motoring journalists just accepting this as "oh well, what can you do". What you guys can do is use your platform to advocate for lower prices. For fair increases when necessary. Nathan and Andre - Roman is wrong on this, I know he's your boss but don't listen to him - you keep speaking up for lower pricing!

Louder just incase Roman missed this valid point. Sometimes Romans frustration clouds his judgement and he takes a boomer-like stance. Obviously he’s not a boomer but when he has takes like this I feel like I’m listening to one.
Regardless if the truck is worth the price it won't sell. I'm already seeing 2K dollar discounts at some dealers. Banks don't do sub prime loans anymore. Cost of money is way up. Plus these new tacos are not even competitive with the Colorado or Frontier. This is by far the most expensive mid size. When a sport costs more then a fully loaded Pro 4X then the value isn't there. Wait until the Pro's come out. They will likely want 60K. They are crazy. Plus like the Tundra the hybrid version won't sell. Because it just adds way too much to the MSRP. They don't sell well.
Love that camper set up. Expensive but love it.
