I saw my only Wienermobile at the Cliff Drive shopping center in Santa Barbara, California in the mid-1950s. I walked up to the shopping center and there it was, in all its glory! I was, however, surprised to see the chef, who I thought was a boy, was actually a little man, quite middle aged. I was dismayed, but enjoyed the experience of seeing a giant wiener parked in the lot.

Fun story! I've always been fascinated by that (goofy) Wienermobile. I have seen one in my town, but never up close or inside of it. About 10 years ago, somebody posted a photo of one parked in front a person's apartment, in an urban area. It had a surreal look,...(I wondered if they ran out of gas and abandoned it?) I knew they would never do that.

Got to see the two versions the 1980's and the current model in 1990's as a kid at a sports event that the minor league Mad Hatters (Madison Wisconsin where I lived in the area from 2--12 or 1991--2001) was sponsored by Oscar Mayer. They even had a grill outside where they were cooking up support for the latest dogs the ones with Angus Beef as that was new as well as drawing up support for the Cheese filled experiment they had to refix as original version got people sick. You Paid X money for the hot dogs and they had Fanks Mustard and Hinz Ketchup as well as relish in both sweet and dill for the toping. The bun was some cheap store brand bun you can get from Walmart.
