Recently purchased same vehicle black on black HB...love it, great car and gas mileage (avg 31.2mpg)....quick correction...you can adjust the head up display through the settings tab in the main menu without having to adjust your seat for a better view...just to settings-active drive display-height adjustment...and your set to go

Dave, you are by far my favorite car reviewer online! How come you never touch upon the safety ratings in your reviews and comparisons? These things usually can be a deal breaker when deciding a new car...

KristofferDK Thank you and I do touch on safety ratings from time to time and I do mention comparisons from time to time. Also, I hope you do additional research on your vehicles before making a purchase because one car review isn't always enough :-) I appreciate your feedback!

Thanks Dave, I bought a 2014 mazda 3 GT back in March. And so far i'm loving this car very much. Only thing that i don't like about the car was the power plug inside the little storage at the arm rest. Power output stays on even though the car is shut off. Other than that, I do recommend this car to any prefer fuel efficent and little luxuary package at low cost ( not really low cost) more like mid range.

+David Lyday I just changed my stock mazda air filter to K&N oem high flow filterand cabin filter. After changing it i noticed the car became more responsive in terms of acceleration from low end. Now back to the topic. After owning it for almost 2 years here's my thought. As if right now the engine has 24,000km mileage on it. The engine is still running smooth, auto transmission is still very responsive and downshift smoothly in normal or sport mode. After changing the air filter from Mazda to K&N oem high flow filter, the car runs even smoother. For those who bought this gen Mazda 3 should give it a try. When i first got the car the fuel consumption was at 9.8L/100km. After a few oil changes and 24,000km, fuel consumption (according to the dash gauge ) its at 10.3L/100km which is quite normal. I always oil change at about 4000km with 100% full German syn oil from Liqu Moly 0w-40 and Mazda oem filter. In terms of daily driving, i noticed the oem 18" Dunlop sport 5000 tires that came with the car is quite noisy (I have the 2,5L engine model). In dry condition these tires are great, but when it comes with wet or rain condition these tires are hitting the weak spot. From time to time when you accelerate up on a hill from a fully stop in wet or rain condition, these tires do slip and losing traction. Don't get me wrong , these tires do provide great stopping power when you needed. Ride quality are good only if you like stiff and harder suspension ride. These stock shocks and spring are stiffer compare to civic or corolla. I guess that the reason they called sport or they wanted to make this car abit sporty. I do driving alot on mountain road. They do provide me good handling experience. Sometimes you do get under-steering but you know its all season tires. Steering wheel feedback is very responsive and accurate. The steering wheel is heavier compare to civic, accord, corolla and bmw x3. I've driven those before so i know it. They purpose design the steering rack like that so you have more feel towards the road condition Its part of their KUDO design. The leather seats are very durable, i'm always having passengers siting in the front and back but these seats seems to hold and durable from daily use. Cargo space is still abit smaller compare to older models (ex: hatchback) Overall: acceptable. English is not my first language so yeah I tried

I am sure the Mazda 3 is a nice car but not for $29,000.00. For that kind of $ I would rather go with the Mazda 6.

  • @lordkosc

The 6 is fantastic, but if you want more cargo space and gas mileage the Mazda 3 hatch is the better choice. Also the 30k model he reviewed is sort of a ghost car on lots, almost none have the high end tech package. I got a sGT hatch for a little over 25k ODT.

Well, I may have to go for the i Grand Touring now, it seems the more videos I watch the more the gas mileage seems to be around 30, which is what I get on a Chrysler Cirrus and a 2012 Mazda3 2.0 L my father has gets 38 MPG and isn't Sky Active. That car's still fun to drive, so if the new 3 is like that then I'm thinking I should be good getting the new one with the base engine, it's not like there's anywhere to really open it up in Jersey and then I'll still be getting all the tech I want plus the MPG. If anyone has any info on the gas mileage (real world not estimates) of the base engine for these mazda3's it would be much appreciated.

The 2nd row is the fail on this vehicle. The 2.0 gets around the mid 30's combined. The 2.5 gets right around 30 combined. For 184HP that isn't bad at all.

let's talk about the fact the mazda's are not properly sealed. Get frozen fog and you will find you will need to scrape the car inside windshield and it can gather on all inside windows. What is with that ....and i live in the south .....what are the people in the north going to do with a car that is not sealed from outside air. the drains will freeze if you get freezing rain and then dump the rain in the inside floor boards. yes this can cause the moisture on the inside of the car but i am telling you when it is perfectly dry the fog gets inside the car. BOLOGNA ......the engineering on this car stinks.
