Here's how Kim Mulkey loaded up in the Transfer Portal | LSU's new players

Ойын-сауық

Meet LSU's Newest Wave of Basketball Talent!
In the wake of significant changes to their roster, including the departure of Angel Reese to the WNBA Draft and transfers of key players, Kim Mulkey and the LSU Tigers are gearing up for a fresh start. In this video, we dive into the additions to the team's lineup, including guards and a forward.
First up, we spotlight Kailyn Gilbert, a standout player known for her scoring prowess. Despite facing challenges, including a dismissal from Arizona earlier this season, Gilbert's offensive abilities are undeniable, making her a valuable asset for LSU.
Joining Gilbert is Mjracle Sheppard, a freshman point guard with a knack for defense. Sheppard's impressive steals and assists stats from her time at Mississippi State hint at her potential to become a defensive force for the Tigers.
Rounding out the guard lineup is Shayeann Day-Wilson, whose all-around game brings versatility to LSU's offense. Despite her height, Day-Wilson's ability to create separation and contribute both as a scorer and facilitator makes her an exciting addition to the team.
Additionally, LSU welcomes forward Jersey Wolfenbarger, bringing her experience from Arkansas to bolster the team's frontcourt.
With the recent addition of incoming freshman Jada Richard, Louisiana's high school player of the year, LSU's roster is shaping up to be pretty good for the upcoming season.
Stay tuned for more updates as LSU continues to build its roster, and don't forget to share your thoughts on these new players in the comments below. Like and subscribe for more basketball updates, and a special thank you to our supporters on Patreon. Until next time, bye!

The correct pronunciation is Jada (Jay-duh Ree-Shard) Richard, it's a South LA Cajun French thing. It's ok though. So, if you see that name as a last name, the the way to say it. Like geaux is go. #GeauxTigers

These are real good guards. But it won't matter if they don't build chemistry, and play team ball. They had the #1 & #2 transfers last year and the #1 freshman class & it didn't work out. AND you must play defense in the SEC to win!

We didn't see much of the freshman class really and lost two key rotational players early in the season. I don't get why they weren't groomed early. It's not like KPs dismissal was abrupt. It was known right when it was done and Smith's injury was obvious when it happened. Velez may have been shown the door and Kent was the surprise. Kim never expected Hailey more than the one year and didn't expect Angel beyond 2. She emphasizes this throughout the whole season. Unfortunately the #1 transfer was at SG not PG so that was misleading. Lol.

They DID NOT have the #1 and # 2 Transfers last season, HVL & Morrow were both garbage. Neither showed up doing the SEC or the NCAA Tournament or against ANY top teams. They often missed crucial shots down the stretch in important games and never, and I meant never showed ANY experienced or leadership at all. HVL couldn't dribble & was slow, and couldn't shoot, and Morrow focused the entire season on trying to outbound Reese at the expense of being slow getting back on defense. (Poole and her got into an argument over it that led to Poole's dismissal) LSU picking up these players meant absolutely nothing, as the one player they needed to replace has not been, and that is Angel Reese. De la Rosario is the worst post player in college basketball, and is no replacement for Reese. The ONLY reason ANY of them were successful was because opposing teams were forced to double & triple team Angel Reese, without Reese being there now, it will be "open season" on LSU. I pick another program to pick up the mantle next season, or South Carolina to repeat as SEC champs, UConn to win the natty over USC in Geno's final season.

@danielpires8940 so, ultimately the problem was what? Lack of PG? Unnecessary need to play people out of position or what? Obviously paper didn't translate to the court. What and who would be fixes? All I see is complaints and a few maybe differing opinions with no solution.

Jersey’s stats don’t really tell the full story. Coming out of high school, Jersey was a 5-star recruit, McDonald’s All-American and Arkansas Gatorade Player of the Year. Mulkey recruited her straight out of H.S. but Jersey chose to stay home and play for Arkansas. Initially, I was happy that she stayed home but unfortunately, Arkansas was not a good fit for her. I hope she has better success at LSU. I’m pulling for her. Let’s go, Jersey! 🔥🏀 🐯 (SN: Her last name is pronounced Wolf-in-BAR-Ger with a hard “G”.)

Day-Wilson is a good PG who will make the players around her better. Barnes knew Gilbert was a ball-dominant PG when she recruited her, so don't complain. John Thompson liked pass-first PG but when Iverson joined the team he allowed AI to be himself.

    @mrjay3047

I would have to disagree. Lots of players are ball dominant in H.S. but learn the necessity of playing defense…Iverson also thrived defensively. He was a defensive back in H.S. He also made the all Big East defensive team which actually made up for his offensive woes and allowed him to continue to play and develop.

@@mrjay3047I think Iverson was the Big East Defensive Player of the Year once or twice and that was because he led the league in steals when it should have been Harrington who covered up for his flaws. Look they had to give him something since Ray Allen kept winning the Player of the Year Awards. Also, Iverson led the NBA in steals once or twice but the best defensive guards on the Sixers were McKey and Snow. However, the point I was making was that you can't change every player to suit your style, sometimes you need to adjust to certain players but still have others in the team that cover up for that player's flaws.

How good will lsu be next year? I think they have addressed a lot of weaknesses with their roster. And they are probably a notch below South Carolina. With teams like UConn, Notre dame, usc, Texas, ucla, and nc state. How good they will become hinges on the development of Williams imo. If she takes another step and becomes one of the best guards in the country. The sky is the limit for this team.

LSU's issue last year was depth..They had no bench..Poa was the only backup guard, and she really cant create a shot for herself....HVL was horrible at point, and they had to work too hard to score...Flaujae, Aneesah, and Mikayla are all great players, but without a true PG they underachieved.....Thats why South Carolina was so good, they were loaded with guards that could score..........LSU fixed that problem..If they can get 1 or 2 forwards that can come in and contribute its over. With that said, Flaujae-Gilbert could easily be the best backcourt in the country......And I see LSU having 2 all americans next season...They should go real far

Gilbert made it clear in conversations with the media that, "she still did not like playing defense." So someone who doesn't want to play defense or pass the ball is the, "star" of the new crop? People who support women's basketball need to come out against this, or teams pulling in five 5 stars. The WNCAA has allowed a few teams to monopolize talent for decades, and we see the result. A few teams win 70% of the chamionships. No one watches. - Talent needs to be spread, just as in the NBA, so real sport can develop from talent parity. Clark/Iowa just (about) broke the monopoly (officiall oligopoly) until they were buzz sawed by an all-star team that was 2 squads of five stars. - Imagine if, in the NBA, one team was allowed to take in 5 first round draft picks, and no salary cap on trades/free agents. - Imagine if the Dream Team was in the NBA. Sure, like the WNCAA, a few (million) homers would cheer, but everyone else would walk away. If people want the WNBA to grow, they need the WNCAA to create stars - The success of the Fever/WNBA now has nothing to do with the WNBA, it is all because of Clark's fame in college following here. A star can't shine in a big group of stars. One or two is enough. Then it comes to competitin and making themselves shine, building a story. If people keep cheering for SC/LSU/UConn/Baylor and they keep getting 80% of the talented players in a 350 team association, then the WNCAA and WNBA (outside of Clark Fever) will have the same few millions fans, on life support, running in the red. People should demand the WNCAA created some structure, like limiting transfer scholarships or the number of out-of-state blue chips on one team. People shouldn't want "stacked" teams ruinging the sport, but instead many competitive teams building it up - and giving a chance for more Clark - Hawkeye - Fever effects so the league can be full of stars with sold out arenas for when they compete.

Did you have an issue when Aureimma, Summit, Smith, Caliperi, Krzyzewski, Sabin, etc. were stacking 5 star players and/or winning championships? NOW, that Staley has been able to do the same, the NCAA should step in👀. As long as there are no violations, it's none of the NCAA's business where players choose to play. You're probably one of those persons who "claims" to believe in individual rights. Yet, you would advocate for abridgement of rights in this instance to suit your agenda. When Staley came to SC, it was a bottom tier bball program. Her great recruitment and coaching made the program what it is today. Should she and her program be penalized because Lisa Bluder and other coaches lack Dawn's recruitment and coaching abilities? The answer is that other coaches need to step up their game as Staley and others have done. People like you are what's wrong with society. Instead of requiring more effort from others, you'd rather change the rules and the playing field so they can compete. A TRUE star will shine wherever it is. It's unfortunate when you have to be the only star on the team to shine. It tells me you're not a real star. SC's team last yr had 5 players chosen in the WNBA draft. Quite frankly, I don't want more Clarks, their brand of bball, and the agenda that comes along with these players. This year SC had multiple players who led the team in scoring. SC plays bball in it's purest form the way it should be played, with no big "Is" and little "Yous". Unlike Iowa, EVERY player can say they played a valuable part in the TEAM's undefeated season and championship. No player was a pawn for the "star". EVERY player on SC's TEAM was a star. This is why players want to play at SC for Coach Staley. This is what all decent people should want kids to be a part of, learning TEAM success and empowerment, instead of individualism and minimizing teammates.

@@kemlloyd5192 who's complaining? Hawkeyes aren't complaining , we're very happy with the beautiful journey and the beautiful style of basketball and the success of the program and Caitlin and the girls. I'm just replying to all of the fools who are complaining and jealous of her success and are too dumb to make any deductions about how fame builds, so I have to explain it to them like children. Here's a hint, Fame is not built by people running around and lying like Sheryl swoopes or just being racist like the LSU players or complaining because somebody else is successful. Fame is built by making a name for yourself which means not joining an All-Star team at the start of your career and instead building a legend through doing something people haven't seen before and bringing up a team that's average to the top and being a cool person while doing it. It's not rocket science but everybody's stuck in the hive mind labeling everything with race and sex to the point that they've lost their rational faculties, so like parrots they end up running around saying it's racism, it's hilarious. even better everyone's complaining because some obscure player, who may be good, is not famous, but they're not going to look at the system and try to reform it at all so next year it's going to be the same silly teams at the top stacking all of the Star players from the whole country together and none of them are going to be famous because nobody likes a monopoly on talent, except homers.

  • @destinypirate

@@vikb3131 this may be the single funniest thing I've ever seen written. If you like All-Star team basketball dominating organic teams which is what we get every year and we're going to get again next year and the year after that, then why are you complaining? 1. Caitlin Clark had no agenda she just played great basketball. I'm guessing racist or sick-minded ideas are making you think she was trying to play great basketball to hurt black people? LOL 2. Of course there's more parody in sharing the ball when you're on a team of all stars. That's the dumbest thing ever said. Most teams have disparity and talent so the more talented players have to take the ball more. Did you want the 5 ft 9 girl who can't make her own shot on I would to shoot it as much as Clark just so the taller players could block her every time? You don't even realize that you're backing into the point that I'm making. If you wanted to see more basketball with parody you would spread out the talent across all of the teams! 3. So you don't like Iowa basketball and you dislike all-star teams that can buzz saw through everybody because of the talent disparity and height disparity and then you call that great. Well guess what good for you nobody else feels that way. That's why women's basketball is not popular. That's why the players who get drafted in the WNBA don't make any big money. If you like it so much then why are you complaining? Nobody but if you Homer's thinks it's good basketball when it's a team of all stars. If people thought that way then the NBA would just have the Dream Team come in and win every year. And because it's the top 10 players in the league guess what they would all share the ball all the time! It wouldn't be like those horrible players like Michael Jordan or Steph Curry. Just keep in mind that because you like teams to be loaded up to dominate other teams doesn't mean anyone else will and it's not the way you create any Superstars because there's no story, so you can like it all you want but you're liking something that's basically debase in the careers of potential Stars. So just don't complain if they don't get famous but some other schools and some other stars who are brave enough to play basketball without joining an All-Star team become famous.
