I love your page Quita and I respect your ability to not only speak fairly but to keep your tone from betraying an emotion you might be burying bc I see that a lot too in the media talking about the these players. So I want to say, I respect how you root for Angel and the sky. I don’t hate Angel or wish her any ill will, I just wish to have her stop bringing Caitlin into something she doesn’t want to be apart of. Reese needs another Kardosa type rival.

Love your content Quita! I’m a big CC fan but I’m also a fan of all the rookies. I think they all bring something unique to the WNBA. Reese and the offensive rebounds, Brink with the blocks, Jackson with scoring, and Martin with the hustle. And loving all their pregame fits too! They seem to be flourishing even with all the noise/drama. At this point, I’m tired of hearing about Clark and Carter. I think the players are over it so everyone in the world should get over it too. It’s time to move on. I wish the media and talking heads would focus on some positive storylines because all the negativity is exhausting. Quita, you always manage to talk about the drama in a rational, measured way. You provide context and help us understand. And thank you for not only talking about the drama. So refreshing to hear about other WNBA stories.

With the Chennedy flagrant, I feel like we are leaving out the twitter statements she made. Like clearly she didn’t just move on lol and somehow she seemed to come off like a hardworking girl who people are bullying and Caitlin stated it … OKAY. More than that, lessons have been learned. I have been defending both Reese and Caitlin all year from haters but seeing Reese clap for that cheap shot and say these underhanded comments that are alluding to Caitlin. “When someone shows you who they are, believe them the first time." Maya Angelou I wonder if it’s even possible for Angel to focus on herself and her own greatness without once alluding to or clinging to Caitlin for relevancy the rest of her career. I don’t think the wnba is out to get Caitlin lol or Angel. But I do think Angel is in cahoots with the media driving this narrative about the wnba vs Clark and how more women like her did more than her. Strong leaders earn loyalty. Weak leaders demand it. - Simon Sinek I’m tired. Caitlin says wonderful things a bout her game and people don’t care or don’t believe it, yet find Angel’s behavior admirable. It’s giving delusional vibes. I would like Angel to find a rival in the post who wants to scrap like her and plays her position to build a legacy with. If we want a magic and bird, let’s wait for juju and Caitlin - bc they respect each other like the original duo did.

Someone needs to explain how the Aces seem to be the only team who can continually afford to add more & more highly skilled vets to their team roster & never have an issue with the leagues salary cap. There is a reason that players choose to leave the NBA & just play over in China. China pays them very, very well, much better than they can make in the WNBA. So I don't buy for a second that Tiffany Hayes has just changed her mind & decided to give up her free time to make much much less in the WNBA.

Personally, I feel the level of aggression I've seen in WNBA games goes beyond normal physical play & makes me cringe at times. I do think if the WNBA commission does not address the issue of referees controlling the aggression on the court, a lot of new fans are going to stop watching. Like it or not, part of growing a sport & bringing in new fans is making the game more palatable to more consumers. And the way people so casually talk about rookie hazing as if it is normal & not a bad thing is troubling to me. Just because it has been done in the past doesn't make it right or OK. I thought we had evolved beyond this & realized hazing was bad. Like Lisa Leslies said in that video, an overly aggressive game style should not be the way WNBA wants to represent themselves & not the way to get attention. But this doesn't fall on the players, it falls on the commission & the referees to control the games & call those hard fouls to ensure things don't escalate. And people forget that many of the new fans of the WNBA are kids. Especially CC fans. The stands of Fever games are full of families who bring their children to watch CC play. But those parents will stop buying tickets or allowing their children to watch WNBA games if aggressive unsportsmanlike play is allowed to continue unchecked.

The incident reminds me so much of the brawl that took place between LSU and South Carolina when Kamilla pushed Flau. Refs let chippy play go too far for too long and people are going to get frustrated and not channel it correctly.

Caitlin Clark's fans are NOT just upset about the Chennedy Carter incident (although: (1) I have reviewed the rebound video at least 12-15 times, and I did not see any unusual or excessive contact by Clark - it looked like she brushed Carter's wrist; and (2) I reviewed the WNBA rules on flagrant fouls, and Carter's act should have been classified, and punished as a FLAGRANT 2 FOUL b/c it was not part of a basketball play, it was excessive, and it reflected POOR SPORTSMANSHIP). In the same game, Caitlin was standing next to Angel in the lane, and Angel flung her to the floor for no apparent reason. No foul was called. Clark has received hard, unnecessary fouls at least 2-3 times per game during most of her games. Many of these should have been classified as flagrant 1 fouls. However, most of them were not even whistled as common fouls. On May 30, just two days prior to the Chennedy incident, the Fever played against Seattle. During that game, VICTORIA VIVIANS PUNCHED CLARK a few seconds after Clark made a 3 point basket (Vivians had been guarding Clark). After the shot, Clark back-peddled (slowly) a few few steps and accidently (very lightly) bumped into Vivians. As Clark turned toward Vivians (presumably to see who she bumped into), Vivians punched her. I watched the video clip at least 25-35 times. It was obvious that Vivians hit Clark, although I could not be certain of the precise location where the punch landed because I couldn't see Vivians' hand when it hit. I could see Vivians' hand and forearm heading towards Clark's face and saw Clark's head snap back sharply, so she obviously hit Clark in the face - Clark's movement was not a flinch or an avoidance manuever, it was the result of a punch to the face (probably the chin, like an upper-cut). I used to watch boxing, so I know what these movements look like. Anyway, AFTER VIVIANS PUNCHED HER, CLARK GOT MAD AND STARTED YELLING AT VIVIANS AND VIVIANS YELLED BACK. The officials simply called a double technical. They did NOT adequately investigate the incident. VIVIANS WAS NEVER CITED OR PUNISHED FOR PUNCHING CLARK in the face, and Clark was punished for doing what almost anyone would have done after being unfairly punched in the face for NO REASON! I have been watching the W since 1997. I mostly just watch my favorite teams' games and the playoffs. I have learned that certain players and teams are more likely to engage in aggressive, hard fouls than the rest of the league, and I choose to avoid watching the unnecessarily aggressive players and teams. I love basketball, not rugby, not MMA, or boxing (anymore). I strongly dislike unnecessarily aggressive play in basketball, and it really bothers me that Clark is getting roughed up so much. I know about the 'welcome to the league' tradition, and I think it's juvenile and can cause season-ending injuries in rookies who are not accustomed to this level of physicality. Many of Caitlin's fans are understandably upset by the excessively hard and unnecessary fouls that she is receiving and have stopped or are planning to stop, watching all WNBA games. If this level of aggression continues, I think most, if not all, of her fans will leave... along with all of the MONEY they bring to the league. Most of us have bought game tickets/season tickets, multiple CC and Fever t-shirts and other merchandise, and WNBA League Pass. Each one of the millions of Caitlin's fans has spent all of this money on the WNBA. ALL THAT ANY OF US WANTS IS FOR THE RULES OF THE GAME TO BE ENFORCED FOR THE BENEFIT OF ALL PLAYERS. IF THE RULES ARE ENFORCED CONSISTENTLY, THEN THE UNNECESSARILY HARD FOULS AND CHEAP SHOTS WILL STOP! That's all it will take! That's all it took to clean up the NBA! WHY DOES THE W CONTINUE TO ALLOW THIS BEHAVIOR? What Alyssa Thomas did to Angel Reese could have caused a severe spinal cord injury and quadriplegia (paralysis from the neck down) - she pulled her legs out from under her while simultaneously pushing her head down. This caused Angel to land almost directly on the top of her head - THIS CAN CASE A NECK FRACTURE AND SPINAL CORD TRANSECTION!!!! THIS KIND OF BEHAVIOR MUST BE STOPPED BEFORE A TRAGEDY OCCURS! All any of us wants is to be able to enjoy watching a high caliber of basketball without having to worry that someone may become severely injured by overly aggressive contact. That's all we want! We're not being hysterical about a few slightly hard fouls. The only people who can truly appreciate the unprecedented level of aggressive fouls and cheap shots perpetrated on Caitlin Clark are those who have watched EVERY SECOND OF EVERY GAME that she has played, because several of these fouls have been pretty sneaky. Obviously, the officials are missing them, and, quite often, the commentators are missing them too. Some of them tend to occur in a crowded area in the lane (Clark does get a lot of rebounds). I will notice a sudden shift in Clark's direction that does NOT look natural. Then, I review the play (thank the LORD for DVRs), and then I can see the contact that caused the shift in direction. At least a few times, it has been a hard shove - very obvious, but not called by the officials. She has been hit in the head a number of times when shooting layups. At least one of these times, she was hit HARD in the head by the elbow and forearm of someone who was blocking the shot. She laid on the floor, holding her head in pain, but the OFFICIALS DID NOT BOTHER TO REVIEW THE PLAY - NO FOUL WAS CALLED!!! We need to protect ALL of the players from unnecessarily aggressive fouls, especially fouls to the head and neck.

The shoulder check wouldn’t have been an issue if 1) the refs had called the right level of foul, 2) if the coach had said in the post game presser: it was wrong, heat of the moment, we will learn from it, not who we are, etc. Instead, things escalate and get blown out of proportion. Rough, dirty play has been a part of sports since day one. Sports bring out the best and the worst of people.

The Sky vs Fever game incident was never about the players, it was about the referees. That referee was 5ft away, staring right at them, & Carter yelled Yo B&$#h right before she hit CC & you want me to believe that referee didn't see exactly what happened? CC shouldn't get special treatment, we just want the refs to do their job & accurately call the hard fouls players are making. The Fever have been sending the commission video after every game of the increasing issue & they have done nothing. It is statistically impossible for every team in the WNBA to maintain that level of full court constant aggressive defense & blitzing on a player & have so few fouls called on them. If the refs were actually doing their job, Fever opponents would rack up fouls & give up FT points. That is the normal consequence for a team who chooses to enact the "Jordan rules" on a player & it acts as a deterrent to ensure defender do not become too aggressive and/or cause an injury. The Sky vs Fever game incident was just the most glaring & egregious example of referees turning a blind eye to aggression toward CC & if this is not addressed, it sends a dangerous message that will only ensure the aggressive coverage of CC continues to escalate until she is seriously injured.

People are making it black and white when it's about green. Just look at attendance, Fever are averaging 16k! The Sky can't even break 10k and the sad true is that if they get rid of Carter (who has a history of assaulting players) and Reece (especially since they have Cardoso) it will not affect their revenue. You see how the Fever has that crazy schedule, they are milking it. They are actually making money in a league of being subsidized. Speaking of the Mystics, how about Pili's 20 points?

To quote Rebecca Lobo, and Sue Bird and other pros in the know, 'No rookie has ever faced what Caitlin Clark has had put on her by other teams.' Clark regular leakage foul 20 times a game with only a few being called. Clark has taken hard hits both in and out of play that go beyond plays on the ball. It is true that other players have suffered violent hits in the past, but that shouldn't be cited as some WNBA culture to aspire to. Being in denial about the abuse that Clark is taking maybe a comfortable move but it's the wrong thing to do. We should be taking this chance, with the support of millions of fans who support basketball as a game of sportsmanship, and be making a call to end the culture of violence and abuse in the WNBA for all women.

Does the WNBA hate black women? - pardon if that seems clickbait like, but let's look at this seriously: Shey Peddy, Angel Reese, Fever vs Sparks 5/28/24 Here we have a player given a severe concussion, a player clothes lined onto the floor, a single game where at least four players went out with injury. But it's not until Caitlin Clark, after taking several in play violent hits and finally gets hit with an out of play blind side cheap shot, that any noise gets made. Why is this? Well on the Caitlin Clark side it's because her millions of fans who came to watch WNBA basketball, and they did not assault on the basketball court. In addition to those other players noted, and many many more before, well - they're just supposed to take it. No one, or more accurately not enough people, cared about WNBA players enough to make an outcry to protect them from taking violent hits and jabs and pushes on the basketball court. But, instead of people putting attention on ALL of the players and protecting them under the rules of basketball, there is an immense narrative coming through of "welcome to the WNBA". The women in this league are subject to violence, abuse, cheap shots, concussions, injuries. We consider this a mostly black league and that's what we consider to be okay for our black players. We don't want to hear about your new player and the "soft" basketball play that she's used to. . . Because this is our history, our history of violence, and you can't take that away from us. We've earned it. We wear it like a badge of honor and we force it on every woman who comes into the league. When the rookies come in we abuse them far past the rules of basketball, and then as veterans they learn to pass the abuse on to the next generation. Black women are supposed to take this, it's "cred". Our black women ,"matter," because they uphold a different standard, even if it hurts them, that's okay, they matter, but we don't love them. We won't protect them, we never have, so we're certainly not going to protect your player. It's all love
