    It's really not about who has it or who doesn't, the point is some humans handle it different and can take it better. Just like some people could break and arm and barley bat an eye and some people stub their toe and cry.... Different levels, different personalities and people. That's what makes humans.

Stress is not an excuse, and if youre burnt out, seek therapy, take time off from work, dont make people suffer.

    I've never wanted to get married or have children, but after watching "Hello Counselor" for the last four years, that feeling has increased one-hundredfold. This show is like birth control. Some of these spouses are a hot mess. If they're not alcoholic, then they're selfish; if they're not selfish, then they are (verbally)abusive; and if they're not abusive, then they're just so, so incredibly immature. 🤦‍♀️ I almost flipped the table after his remarks @18:26.

    I'm refraining myself so much from writing here. It's been a long time since I left one but when it comes to kids, I can't help it. Little Hanbyeol is surrounded by her little sisters that I felt a bit relieved because they look like they get along well. As someone that used to be depressed, isn't it possible for him to empathize more of her and run to her when the result came out? Be more attentive of her actions, words or thoughts? Because once you're in a bad place, you'll be everywhere to stop any of your beloved ones to be in the same state because you yourself felt of how horrible that place is? She isn't as cheerful as the other kid, she only speaks one word at a time, being asked. She won't be able to start a conversation if no one approached her first. She's probably the one walking by herself when mom's hands were occupied with a fishing rod and her two other kids. How scary would that be because you have no one to hold, walking on the street with a lot of harmful things with her mom, could be yelling for her to walk faster or walk closer to them. And at home being the eldest, she's probably entrusted with a lot of things to do, as little as playing with her other siblings when she wasn't feeling like she want to. Hearing your parents unlimited fights and shouts, it tore a kids' heart more than anyone could imagine. When he said that it's too expensive for a $30 treatment/therapy cost, I died inside. How could you as a father is soooooo selfish?! You worked hard, yeah, props to you. But where all the money goes? $2500 a month for fishing trips and $30 therapy you called it expensive. Then you expected your kid to find her own way out of the situation, herself, an 8 years old little daughter. I could fit 80, $30 therapy sessions in that fishing cost. Which could help an innocent kid breathe a new life and have faith that life is a beautiful thing and feeling loved by the closest people in her life. Please protect her after this, Mr Dad. Then I'll give my respect to you.

If that was me if my husband did not help me on my first pregnancy, I would never let him touch me and get pregnant again, i dont care if he will divorce me atleast my priority then is my child...what a b....rd husband .

    Am I the only one who can see that the dad seems to have an anti-social personality dissorder? I don't have the qualifications to say so but he should undergo some evaluation because his actions are exteremly callous, he's giving lame exuses without any feeling of guilt and his regret was only obvious when his was shamed on national tv by his daughter's innocent drawing. He seems far too smug for anything. He is also obsessed with himself- the way he carries himself, spends on himself and doesn't care about his family- this natural way of treating his family like his tools is just... pathetic. I am so frustrated, angry and sad after watching this episode. I am also surprised that when the mother talked about the story when she had her first child, her parents-in-law also seem to not have reacted or helped with her. Also the people who are generalizing all Korean men to be bad, this is just one case. Yes, their families are very patriarchal and children may not have much freedom. None-the-less, they are extremely family oriented in every tradtion. But your evaluation is based on the culture you come from which is obviously non-Asian. For Asians, this is very normal. What makes this family's sitation particularly bad isn't because he's patriarchal. It's because he's totaly impersonal with his own blood. He cannot see how serous the problem is and how much suffering he is causing. This problem is far more serious than can be handled in this program, in one session. and needs more intervention by mental healthcare professionals. The entire family really have it tough and I pray their situation improves. My heart bleeds for them. Asian society is very harsh on single mothers and they blame everything on the woman very easily. Atleast with this program, it was outed how serious the problem is and might get them some help.

    Exactly what i thought. And it leads me to one question. Is it not common for korean woman to take any birth control pil? I mean there are some cases where wife got so frustated with their husband, yet they got 3 kids or more. If i got stress from my husband since my 1st pregnancy, then i am gonna protect myself not to have more kids with him. Because the stress obviously can affect the kids as well.

  • @Sparkleanium

    @Sparkleanium

    @@rosemerry33 I am not sure but it could be that way. But it's also possible the husband pressured the wife or she faced some other familial pressure. Having many children is seen as a good thing in Asian cultures even if it may not be essentially a good thing in the real world. 'one big happy family' idea

    This is one of the saddest episodes I've watched this year. Watching the wife cry resonated with me because I have been there. Raising one child can be difficult but, three with one on the way is quite overwhelming especially when you don't have help and support. Also, I may be wrong but I believe the father still suffers from depression and this is why he has invested in fishing as a way to escape reality. He seems miserable and in return he is making his family miserable by his selfishness. This couple needs family counseling and I pray that they can provide a stable, loving home for their precious daughters.

I meant, normal kids would happily draw their family members in the gouse, flowers all over the place and they would cheerfully added 'the tree will grow so big in the future!' with cute eyes drawn on the tree. I really hope Hanbyeol gets treatment and the parents to reconcile. Childhood life is very important and once you ruin it there's no coming back. I hope the husband don't waste this second chance.

    I really feel for Hanbyeol since I went through the same. I had childhood depression, severe social anxiety and a very low self esteem because I was also ostracised and bullied when I was 7. I also didn't have anyone to talk to about because I saw how my parents were struggling being new migrants in a country where we didn't know the language and my mum was going through post natal depression. I hope Hanbyeol gets the treatment because she needs it. I didn't and I've only recently been working through it all and I'm 27.

    This made me cry too much. I have two sisters close to my age too, they reminded me so much of them. Their little matching dresses made me think maybe their mom made it, like mine did. My parents fought a lot too, and we were really hurt by it. Watching their cute precious daughters made me understand a little why my parents stayed together as well, they probably thought we were too important. They only divorced when we were almost adults, and that's why we never got to feel a safe and stable home in our childhood. I didn't even know how harmful it was, before getting out.

    I don't think I've ever been so upset about one of these concerns before now. Don't get me wrong, there are a lot of concerns on the show that frustrate me to no end, but this takes the cake. I honestly have no idea where to start. I would have looked this girl straight in the eyes and said, "Girl, leave him. Run for the hills because this is gonna get worse." The two things that struck me were the costs between his spending habits and the spending habits his wife had. He spends around $2,500 on fishing alone, not including extra expenses like his clothing purchases and God only knows how much on alcohol. But he gets pissed when she buys hair clips for their daughters, inexpensive clothing or anything else. He's even monitoring how much she's spending, which concerns me too. He even had the audacity to say that his child's treatments for her depression was too expensive? Like seriously? Which brings me to number two, the little girl. Hanbyeol is only 8 years old in this clip in Korean age, which would maybe be like 7 internationally if it wasn't already converted to that age on the show. She drew a house that she wouldn't want to live in, with no family inside. She drew a tree on a beach that will die and said it wouldn't be able to survive. Typically, from what I would see from other kids drawings when I was younger, even today, are full of color and life family members and friends, maybe even a sun in the corner. I would imagine that kids who drew trees would say they would make lots of fruits or would be able to thrive. She didn't. She went straight to that tree is going to die. There's no saving it. There's nothing that can be done. That broke my heart. Sorry for the rant but things like this just upsets me so much.
