i think it's harder for her than normal fans and especially international fans like us. we never get the chance to talk to our idols or meet them so often in real life, so it's easy to accept that they are just celebrities to us and to go about our lives. but she's young and she meets him often and talks to him so it's easy for her emotions to get confused and to actually have the hope of marrying him someday.

Ikr I feel bad for her and Kangnam. I know she really loves Kangnam but I'm not sure if it's like "real" love or just a phase? But I'm willing to give her the benefit of the doubt considering she did meet him in real ife before and talk to him kinda often. If this were some fairytale they would end up together, but we have to remember that Kangnam is a human with HIS own feelings too and I feel like he probably is kinda uncomfortable while at the same time grateful for her support. I mean, he probably feels bad and a little weird over the fact that a teenage girl who is more than 10 years younger than him is supposedly in love with him. At the same time, I hope he will feel at least a little bit of happiness at the fact that he has helped her go through difficult times directly or indirectly, and I wish the two of them all the best in the future. I hope the girl meets someone great as she seems very sweet and even kind of humorous xD and Kangnam can meet his "soulmate" too

Yes the same thing goes for fansites. I heard of some fansites going so far as to deluding themselves and missing the idol more and more with each time bcs they're so used to seeing them all the time. Also this girl is somehow lacking love in her life so she found replacement in the form of an idol. But I think with 16 this is just a phase. It's an age where teenagers can't really make healthy decisions

Okay but admit it, she’s a successful fan. She got to take pictures with him, see him face to face, talk to him, noticed by him, hug him, etc. OMG I would be jumping around the studio if I get to meet my idol.

She's not a sasaeng. Going to the cafe daily and walking around his neighborhood doesn't make her one. If she was one, she would have stalked him 24/7 everywhere he goes but she doesn't. She goes to school and has a part time job, and is just at the cafe most of the time. At the moment, Kangnam makes her days better, is her source of her happiness and inspiration but I believe that she will grow out of it when the time comes. She's very independent. Her family life isn't exactly that great as well which explains. I feel that the dad is also at fault for remarrying without discussing it with her. He should have at least prepared her for this, to slowly bring her around to the idea of him remarrying and she might have accepted.

He isn't at fault for anything she just has an obsession with an idol trying to be around him did you not here the I'll be at the cafe from 7 am to 11 pm everyday so i can see him maybe 10 times a month? She moved cities and transferred schools and got a job to spend $400-$500 a month at a cafe hoping he comes in. Not even caring about her dad having surgery and being in the hospital for a month so she could sit and hope to see kangnam yeah no.

why are you thinking that she went to the cafe for no reason except to buy something? as if she had free time to spare? she went there JUST for the guy, she went constantly & stayed there for hours morning until midnight obsessively in hope of seeing him. this is not ok, it's stalking. i would feel deeply uncomfortable if a fan did this to me, to feel like i'm constantly watched & followed, the thought that i will probably accidentally see them in the place/streets in my personal life would make me feel nervous. your idea of stalking is seemingly the stereotyped version, the aggressive type too & that's very damaging bc it isn't always like that.

I feel like many of the commenters here didn't actually understand the episode and the reasoning behind all of this. You can clearly hear and see that she has had it very tough and that Kangnam is her escape, and it appears that she'll probably get better from now on as time passes after being able to talk about all of this with her dad and the MCs and guests.

To be honest, I was once on her place. When I got to college I was heavily bullied by a senior whom I rejected. Since he was in Student Council he has an excuse to be everywhere esp during the time that we had no professor, and my friends except for one left me since he was rejecting all my requests for forms that I should fill up to get new copy of the uniforms etc. And he had all the 3rd years back him up as they thought I rejected him rudely. (Which I didnt I pulled him into a semi secluded area and told him I cant accept him since I had a lot going on, my mom's coming to live with us after it didn't work out with her new family etc) anyways, this one friend of mine was so addicted to computer gaming that I thought since I don't know what to do, I went with him into internet cafes(he's gay just to clarify) I was already into KPOP during tht time and I got myself so immersed into it. I fall into depression with noone to turn to because my family is so busy fighting whether my mom got to stay or not. I was in the internet shop when I was supposed to be in classes. KPOP was my only solace in the time that I was all alone. My grades started to drop, the only thing I do during that time was eat, sleep, and go to shops. A few weeks before the term ends, my aunt greeted me asking how my grades are and told her it was fine. That was then, I realized what I was doing, I was lying to my family and to myself that everything will get better if I continue watching KPOP and being in a fandom in general. But it doesn't. You have to pick it up yourself. Because your oppa shouldnt be the one leading your life, you should. I slowly got out of it, and transferred schools and continue my studies, I still like KPOP but I'm not as immersed as before. She will get better once she knew that she had other people to turn to instead of just devoting herself into Kangnam. Her family has to support her. And it cannot be a one time deal only cause she's just gonna go back to old routine until she get back to her own feet. Tldr: It's a phase. What she needs is constant support from her family. Make her feel that she's not alone.

I was angry at the girl first and thought she was an unreasonable adolescent. But as they kept on digging her reason, I pity and understood her condition and reason. No girl at that age would want her dad to remarry. It's rare to have those who understand and cope with it. But still, she's so brave to be that independent at 16. It's a concern.

It’s just a phase. She felt that she had no one and sought comfort in Kangnam.

I actually thought of the idols i watched getting married, I actually cried. It wasnt for something like "he's not mine anymore". More like he finally has someone and he can be happy with her.

To be honest it is not hard to like Kangnam, i watched him in law of the jungle, and he was so cool and funny he has this very charming attititude and face. But the girl should know her limits, and i understand her situation about her family.

I don't think that it was right for the dad to remarry without talking to the daughter and thinking about her feelings. Yes, he is an adult and it's his decision in the end, however, he isn't alone. When children are involved, the stepparent will be involved in the children's lives as well. Even if he had already made up his mind, letting her know about it and introducing Eunbyeol and stepmom first so they get to know each other before the marriage took place is what I think is best for all parties involved. I understand that it is hard when a parent remarries - I would know because I was in Eunbyeol's shoes (dad remarried after a rough divorce) - but it wasn't fair to her when all he did was say "this is who I'm marrying" and giving her the phone so they could talk. That just seems rude and rushed and in the end, stepparent and stepchild won't have a good relationship from the start. That being said, Eunbyeol will eventually grow out of her hardcore Kangnam fan stage. She can still like him, however, it is borderline stalking and she is not thinking straight. She is only 16. Her focus should be on school, friends, and family. Following celebrities should be at the bare minimum. Skipping school is overboard. She seems like a really good kid. She's pretty independent already but she just needs to be more responsible about it. The stepmom also seems like she cares for Eunbyeol as well. From what I see, she cares for her well being and even bothered to learn Korean so that they all can communicate even if it wasn't perfect. She is trying. Eunbyeol should put in effort too. From what I can see, it doesn't seem that she hates her stepmom - just the general idea that her dad is remarried is what she hates most. I think she thinks it was unfair for her mother. This is just my thoughts.

i'm thankful that .. the source of the problem is communication. Because at the end of the day, both felt neglected and never realised that all they needed was each other's support. Kangnam was just a bonus and so was his new Vietnamese wife. All parents nag..that's just how they showed they're love sometimes..

Kangnam was her "soft place" for her young and confused heart... he is such a great guy! Good intervention guys!!

Boy when she started balling because Kangnam came out, I felt that. I mean I didn't cry but I did feel a sense of comfort and happiness when I saw someone I really admired up close and personal. Kangnam is very charming and I can understand why she's a huge fan, I'm a fan of him as well.

I really loved kangnam and how he was. He owned up to whatever he did and wasn't trying to sugarcoat anything. The father wants everything to go his way he's not doing his part at all. Like how when kangnam asked about him calling her once everyday, and he had no answer to that. You cant just sit and whine about stuff without trying anything first and expecting the other party to make the moves for you and according to your wishes.

I can't even with anyone trying to defend her, she doesn't go to the cafe once in the hopes to see him she has uprooted her entire life for him. She might be self sufficient but her goals are all messed up. And her being selfish enough to not see her dad in the hospital cannot be defended.

She's not really attracted to him, it's more the idea of him and the escapism it brings. We all go through it she just needs to grow and learn how to rely on herself and be happy in her real life

Lol when I was in grade 12 I had the most random crush on Kangham and it lasted like 3 days lol it was so random but I seriously thought he was hot but I didn't think more of it cos it was such a random crush.
